The last earth man

The last earth man

In 2XXX, a strange virus suddenly appeared on the earth. It only infects humans. The infected person’s body will slowly weaken and then die within a few weeks. The infectivity of this virus is extremely terrible, and human beings cannot avoid being infected by any means. When the whole world was in despair, a Arcturian named bill came to earth and declared that he was willing to help treat the virus. People on earth thought they had met a Savior and fully cooperated with Bill’s treatment. However, the treatment had no effect. Soon, human beings became extinct. Bill holds the gene bank of all mankind, so he continues to clone humans to study the treatment of the virus. In one experiment, due to a coincidence that the probability was infinitely close to zero, the virus on a human clone was removed and had immunity to the virus. Bill told the human that the coincidence could not be copied. If you want to revive other humans, you can only go to the source of the virus: Sirius. So, the last earthman drove the mecha provided by bill to Sirius. But waiting for him is a conspiracy

Crucible

Crucible

I’m one of the developers for this game; I produced the game, put together the overall design vision, and programmed the bullet patterns. This project was an incredible learning experience, and I’m thankful to my team for making it such a fun and fulfilling time. It was my very first game project, and very much a passion project.

Things that went well:

  • For a six-week project between three freshman-level developers, I’m proud of how much we squeezed into the game.

  • The game is extremely short, but is a complete experience. The player can win and lose, and there is a progression in difficulty (if imperfect).

My play through here:

Review

I really liked the music a real piano bop and the game itself it’s challenging and I’m glad the game gives you a reason to play through with no continues. Normal mode is definitely manageable, but it’s still challenging enough it’s pretty rewarding when you beat it on normal with no continues. Legendary is beyond my skill level, but normal is pretty user friendly and if you really struggle you can use continues to make the game beatable by everyone you only get the best ending with no continues though. Definitely recommend a solid free to play that lets you practice/test your bullet hell skills

Red Horizon

Red Horizon

Such a great pick-up-and-play roguelike

Different to any of the games I’ve played, more like an amalgamation of a lot of ideas and games - really like the auto-shoot mechanic, makes it more about timing and skill no matter what power-ups you get (can’t just tank through to the end!)

Decent difficulty levelling system, took me about 4 hours to even realise there was a boss….. and when I did, woah boy did I suck

Awesome (and hysterical) graphics and wicked chiptune theme.

Got the game for free to beta test, but really appreciate the work so bought it once it was released.

I was gifted this game so I can’t complain too much about the game. The game has few options for controls which may be an issue if you prefer using Arrows. When you kill enemies they say silly cuss words and overall the game has no depth or story besides shoot until you die. It is insanely hard to beat the game and I mainly play this game waiting between online classes. If this is someone’s first game being made I would say it is alright but this is not really much of a game.

Space Elite Force

Space Elite Force

Summary:

(longer version below)

Space Elite Force is a pretty neat and lite side-shooter, offering some builds/customization and a fair amount of gameplay. It doesn’t come without drawbacks, but they’re minor, so at the end of the day, depending how much you pay for it, you can get a pretty decent local co-op game without regretting it.

Reminescient of games like R-Type and Gradius, this shootem will bring back fond memories. It is a masterpiece and a game done right in this genre. It is 99 cents well spent. I would’ve gladly paid for $5 or more for it. Exceptional development.

Demon Slayer Akagi

Demon Slayer Akagi

Just as advertised: a solid, classic arcade-styled game; the sort that will kick your butt at first, but becomes very satisfying and replayable as you get better and learn to handle its unique and tricky mechanics with all three of the different selectable ability sets.

Jammin' soundtrack with simple but cute visuals and character designs as well.

DISCLAIMER: I received a key to bug test this game a few days before release.

Short Version: If you like Touhou 1, then you’ll probably like this game.

Long Version: Demon Slayer Akagi is a bullet-hell breakout arcade game where you control Akagi in her quest to free girls from the control of a demon. The core gameplay revolves around propelling a magic ball onto tiles to slowly break them down, but, unlike many Breakout-like games, the tiles will shoot back at you, and you will have to avoid those in addition to your own ball. Additionally, there is no penalty for missing your ball, so you can drop the ball as necessary to avoid incoming projectiles. Just make sure that you don’t get hit by it yourself, since it counts as a projectile.

Lazer Cops

Lazer Cops

Using a tether tied between you and your buddy is an interesting gameplay mechanic i havn’t seen before. Trying to coordinate with a friend (or two cars by yourself) can be challenging but you get the hang of it pretty quick. The levels introduce new senarios and mechanics at a nice pace to keep the game fresh. Enjoyed my playthrough of it.

I’m a fan of good coop games, and Lazer Cops fits the bill for me. There are quite a few games that claim to be coop that can really be played just as well single player, but Lazer Cops is not among them. The cool lazer tether mechanic in this game really favors having a buddy cop or two at your side, and the way it makes you work together can lead to some fun moments.

The game has a varity of different levels that give you the chance to explore the different ways in which the lazer tether mechanic can be used. Some of them are harder than others, but fortunately you can skip to any level within a zone at any time, so you aren’t blocked on the levels that don’t appeal to your playstyle.

Hell Blasters

Hell Blasters

I’m fairly new to playing shoot em ups (shmups) to actually be good at them rather than just credit feed my way through an arcade game. I wanted to get into ‘bullet hell’ shmups but the games are really intimidating. This game was recommended because the designer is an accomplished bullet hell player who made the gameplay the top priority - and made it so you can use the story mode to actually learn to play a bullet hell.

It’s been an absolute blast and the story mode really delivers bite sized chunks of training and the arcade so you can practice them and learn how to deal with the enemies.

This is the Bluesmobile of shmups. It may not look like much on the outside, but it’s got the cop motor, cop tires, and probably even the cig lighter. Great level design & bullet patterns, a ton of modes, leader board & replays, great shmup tunes, it’s all there. Great work, devs!
