Office Strike War - Multiplayer Battle Royale

Office Strike War - Multiplayer Battle Royale

This game is great! You can get to kick your office coleagues' asses and not get sued for that :)))

Jokes aside, the gameplay is dynamic, and the leveling up scheme makes you feel edgy, looking for hp and xp. Great idea! Enough of the AAA games crap, this is where gold lies. Can’t wait for it to get popular!

Bravery Network Online

Bravery Network Online

  • “Ok, I have the advantage here. My Digital Attack is strong against the fighter they have out right now…”

  • “If they notice this, they will probably tag out into their other fighter with a high Digital Defense stat, meaning I won’t do much damage and they will have the advantage again…”

  • “If I predict their switch, and switch to my other fighter in the back with the high Physical Attack stat, I’ll keep my advantage and then be able to set up the win”

If you like this sort of turn based, mind games type combat, then you’ll love Bravery Network Online (BNO) !! It has a good selection of available fighters (with more on the way) - all with their own pools of possible attacks and tricks they can use. You can build up your team of 5 fighters and fight online against other people in both casual and ranked matchmaking. There are some story and single player elements, but BNO is mostly designed around PvP and playing online - at least at this point in early access.

I wrote my first review when I only played 5.8 hours of the game, and even then, I had a blast with the game. Now, with 195 hours in and getting 3rd place in a community run tournament, and running a tournament myself, I came back to revise my review.

The gameplay is much like competitive pokemon, you and your opponent bring in a fighter, and you select a move without knowing the opponent’s selected move. However, what I find most interesting in this game is that it does not have the random effects that can happen in pokemon. Statuses are not applied by chance, a critical hit is not random, and neither are misses, which are parries in this game. However, other reviews will talk about this at length, so I’d like to focus on another side of the game.

Warhammer Underworlds: Online

Warhammer Underworlds: Online

Disclaimer: I got this game for free like the rest of you all this week. I am only writing this review because I see so many uniformed reviews. You’re welcome to dislike this game and find it boring, but leaving a negative review because it is exactly what it claims to be seems petty.

Summary:

This is a pretty close clone of the Age of Sigmar tabletop game by the same name. Tabletop combat can be clunky, time consuming, and even boring if your army has been wiped out or you’re waiting on your opponent to make a tough decision. So just like the tabletop game, this game has similar quirks.

I have mixed feelings about the current situation of the game. I am hoping that by the time this game goes past early access I will have only positive reviews!

I’ll start with the good stuff:

  1. This game is implementing the mechanics of the table top version of Underworlds - Shadespire perfectly and I have faith that the developers will do the same justice to Nightvault and Beastgrave.

  2. The game looks great for early access. the Visuals are great and the models look fantastic. I would like to see the background change from game to game and make it feel more like a changing city but it should not be a deal breaker in my opinion.

Warbands: Bushido

Warbands: Bushido

Warbands:Bushido isn’t that bad. Indeed, there are very good points such as the graphics and th concept : we don’t have that many minatures games, especially japanese ones. The rules are easy to learn but hard to master. There are numerous options mixing units and cards. I also must disagree with the fact it’s a “pay to win” game because you don’t need real money to buy new units, scenarios or cards. Of course, the possibility to spend a few bucks is offered but it’s not mandatory because you will get ryos (virtual money of the game) to do the same : it will take more time, that’s all…Plus, for every new day you’re connected, you get 100 dust (used to buy Legendary units) and 50 ryos.

Warbands: Bushido is a digital collectable miniatures game, a good one. Not that I’ve played many digital minis games, but bear with me. I’ll throw out the the one low point first, the English isn’t great and can be confusing (though there’s a thread to help them update!). It’s enough to get by on, but some unit descriptions are fairly confusing until you see them in action a couple times.

Where Warbands: Bushido shines is in it’s short, tactical PvP battles and the incremental rewards it dishes out that keep you searching for just one more opponent. There are single-player campaigns but since they don’t help you level up your units or acquire more than a small handful of units, they’re never going to get you into the heart of the game: collecting and maturing a group of Seven Samurai-esque killing machines while planting other people’s would-be heroes in the ground.

Mordheim: City of the Damned

Mordheim: City of the Damned

Hi all,

I will present this review in different segments depending on if you are:

  1. a GW fanatic and preferably familiar with the Mordheim Tabletop game. (GWF)

  2. A general fantasy/tactics lover (GFTL)

  3. everyone else (EE)

First the TL:DR version:

  1. a GW fanatic and preferably familiar with the Mordheim Tabletop game. (GWF)

You have been waiting for this game since the first time you critted the Ogre mercenary. It’s here. Go buy it. Oh wait, its not a straight conversion like BB? Hmmm. Well then have a look below to see if this adaptation is for you. Yes there are some bugs and yes the AI is not great, but this is meant to be played vs friends anyway right?

Real player with 874.9 hrs in game

I know the feelings about this game are very mixed but as far as I am concerned it is perfect. The difficulty is the kind of unfair that requires you to think about every move you make, even one attempt to cut a corner and you’re punished severely.

I’ve played a fair bit now and from the negative reviews I’ve read alot of people seem to dislike the hardcore nature of the game. I can appreciate why but I don’t think anyone was ever mislead about how difficult this game would be or the penalties your units face for going out of action in a mission. This is almost a roguelike RTS, the best thing about this game is that you use the environment as part of your strategy to out manouvre the far superior enemy, lock them down and beat them into nothing.
