Bishoujo Battle Hanafuda Koi-Koi

Bishoujo Battle Hanafuda Koi-Koi

Easy to pick-up, hard to master.

The game does a great job showing you the ropes and helping you understand how to pair each card set. It’ll take a while for you to know the sets by heart (I still need to rely on the helper and on the set list) but the more you play, the more it becomes second nature.

The game has pretty nice presentation, and the anime girls are just a nice visual treat for you to collect as you play through the campaign. It’s really nice to notice that, without trying too hard, you start strategising over which cards to pick, whether you should push a koi-koi, or not.

I was a big fan of the other koi-koi game by Zoo Corporation, this one is basically a copy of it, except that you face anime girls and collect anime girl cards.

The other game is more traditional and has DLC maps. Make your choice

DEAD OR ALIVE 6

DEAD OR ALIVE 6

My Thoughts:

Dead or Alive 6 is now officially more Dead than Alive.

I’m not a hardcore Dead or Alive player, but it was one of the first fighting games that I committed to. The previous iteration of DOA, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round despite its issues is an amazing game. DOA6 is a game that I have been playing for a full year and instead of it being the next great entry in the DOA series, 6 is plagued with flawed mechanics, questionable balancing and some of the worst development support I think I’ve ever seen.

I’m not real fan of fighting game, but this game is the only one i can learn how its system working from tutorial mode and that will help me belong to play this game, for example:

  • Triangle system (Strike - Hold - Throw) and how to counter each other

  • How to combo (Stun opponent = Launch == Juggle)

  • Strike, Hold, Throw from BASIC to ADVANCED

  • Chain attack (how to cancel hit when you perform combo, juggle, bait opponent, etc…)

  • Wake up system, wake up kick, fast recovery (which help you make advantage or against opponent when you’re downing)

Koihime Enbu 恋姫†演武

Koihime Enbu 恋姫†演武

well if you like the anime, or anime girls you probably could like this as long evade story mode… so here i will say all i think about the devolopers of this game… sadly i can’t put insults or only insults so this will be hard.

Let’s say you make a fighting game based in something famous, for example dragon ball, then put a story mode that you know all people want to play and put a difficulty curve that go from the char not move to hey i will block all you will do and if you not block me i will do a combo that will kill you. And now think that for make players lose time each time you lose not only i will put a lose screen but a continue screen that take you to char select screen but if you change chars you will start again from 1 only for make you lose time… that is koihime enbu a pain in the xxx that devoloper never disguise. I have finish the story 3 times and nope each time it not becomes more easy it becomes more stressfull seeing how i need to learn a char enough well to defend and do specials for win.

With the recent influx of 2D fighters on Steam, sometimes the key to getting noticed is to have a different approach. Koihime Enbu’s angle is “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, but almost every character is a girl. Guan Yu? Cao Cao? Sun Shang Xiang!? All girls. Furthermore, this game is a spin-off of Koihime Musou, an adult visual-novel/strategy game about a young man who travels back in time to this Three Kingdoms era. To be honest, I’m a little surprised that Koihime Enbu is an awesome fighting game.

Despite the slightly pervy character models, this is quite an enjoyable waterslide racetrack. Against the clock & lap ghosts, leaderboards to beat friends, plenty of tracks & skins to unlock also

KILL la KILL -IF

KILL la KILL -IF

I don’t really enjoy fighting games but this is one I have really stuck with. It sticks very true to the style and animation of the anime, being just as bombastic. One thing you must keep in mind with this game is that it IS kusoge, so don’t go in expecting Tekken or Street fighter tier quality. But, for a kusoge, it has really impressed me. Each voice actor for every character going, Japanese and English dubs, have voiced hundreds of unique voice lines each for this game which really impressed me. It also features a decent soundtrack, with each character getting a few tracks each. The models look good and the game is very well animated during matches.

EDIT: Review was edited

The game itself is fan-freakin-tastic. It’s probably one of the most fun fighting games I’ve played in a quite a while and is miles better than My Hero One’s Justice, and eons above shovel ware crap like Jump Force. So why is the review marked “not recommended?” TLDR, it’s the port.

VISUALS:

The visuals are incredibly damn good and faithful to the original show, recreating scenes, moves, and ultimates straight from the source. Just watch a video showcasing all of the ultimates in the game, because that will show you just how gorgeous it looks. My only problem with the visuals is the odd blur and pixelation the game has, it’s especially noticable when comparing gameplay to the UI, but it’s definitely nowhere near a game killer and doesn’t impede gameplay in any way; either way, I think this game looks grand. Not DBFZ level grand, but it gets close.

Mount Your Friends 3D: A Hard Man is Good to Climb

Mount Your Friends 3D: A Hard Man is Good to Climb

This game takes everything you loved about the first one, and dials it up to 11. Everything that may have turned you off to the first one in terms of mechanics has been remedied or simplified here. The movement is fluid and easy to pick up, only requiring your mouse and two fingers to play. The diversifcation of modes is excellent, with every single one having some kind of charm and element of fun to it. The skill floor is much lower and easier to get in to, while the skill ceiling is much higher, and difficult to master. The game can be as challenging as you want it to be, but it always remains fun at whatever skill level you play at. The skins and team customization options that you unlock through play are all hilarious, and give a genuine sense of progression without feeling like you’re missing out on anything. Custom modes are coming soon, with much more on the way, as the dev is very active and open to feedback. Basically, this is everything you’re looking for in a game and more. If you loved the first one or are just looking for a hilarious game to play in your free time, definitely pick it up. If you have a friend or two and are looking for something cheap and silly, this is an absolute must buy.

I played the first game with my buddies and always loved it for its goofy physics and the fun game modes such as low gravity and horizontal mounting. When I heard about the release of the sequel I was excited to see a different take on the classic game of mounting jacked dudes. My friends and I got the game on the release date and I streamed it. After playing the game for (currently 8.8 hours before typing this) I can say that I like this new installment more than the previous one.

Pros:

New modes such as blockade and shuffle.

Missy’s Transformation Tournament

Missy’s Transformation Tournament

It’s a fun game that aims to fill a mostly empty niche in the game market: transformation games. It has ambitious plans for the future and the developer has put a lot of thought into the lore for the setting of this game and his plans for the game mechanics of the future kingdom mode. It’s free so if you’re on the fence about it you can try it at no cost to you.

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!

This game is quick to dismiss for its price tag and its initial presentation of anime-heavy content but it’s actually fun to pick up as a fighting game and let’s be honest we could all use some extra cuteness brighten a bad day.

-PROS-

Mechanics are what you will enjoy here because everyone is capable of dashing/canceling very easily. It’s not as “on-point” demanding like in Guilty Gear or others that require (Roman) canceling to be done only with certain moves with very specific frames of attack.

Pretty great fighter, although it will take some time to get used to it. If you can put aside the theme (take my word for it, it’s tolerable in game), you are in for a treat.

There are three main reasons the game sticks out as a 2D fighter:

  • Homing button

You can use it to jet yourself towards the opponent, delay your attack, fly around projectiles, extend your combo, dodge attacks. No other fighter allows you to be this mobile in the air. It’s something that you will keep finding ways to exploit, it’s pretty great.

Battlerite Royale

Battlerite Royale

Don’t understand the negative reviews, this is probably one of the funnest games I’ve ever played.

Edited 11/27/19: We’re approaching the end of the year and with countless hours in this game I can begin to understand slightly why the game in a sense, flopped. I believe a lot of it was bad luck or perhaps focusing on the wrong issues, in that all of the issues of the game are very minute but subtly influence newer players in just the right way to be drawn away from the game; and through a series of widespread misunderstandings with this game it garnished an undeserved negative reputation. This game can be absolutely amazing if you have the patience to understand its inner workings. There are still players like myself occasionally playing, so don’t hesitate to buy this game if you’re looking for a little new fun/want to support these great developers on their next (bigger and better) project.

Rarely review games, but I feel this game justifies one.

When I first started playing this game, it was refreshing experience. It felt like Heroes of the Storm in a BR mode. There are many customization options that are on par with Overwatch. Such as choosing a costume with variants of colors and rarities. There are different mounts as well that range from horses, to pugs, and to mythical creatures.

Gameplay wise its fun at FIRST. Everything is new, you believe you get outskilled by other players, and there are many champions to explore. The game has so much potential, but I feel the first experience of your game reflects differently the further hours you invest into the game.
