Monster Jaunt

Monster Jaunt

This game has that classic Nintendo couch party vibe. I’ve played it with a few different groups of people, and it seems to work well with both frequent and casual gamers. The minigames have a good amount of variety to them, and there’s enough minigames to give it a plenty of replayability. One particularly nice touch is the adorable art of the hybrid creatures in the game. I’ve fallen in love with the panda/andaconda hybrid"pandaconda" and the fiery otter “magmotter”.

I would heartily recommend Monster Jaunt for anyone looking for a new party game.

The mini games give you a variety of challenges that mostly focus on skill and not pure chance. The board game is engaging and yet lightweight enough to be understood at a glance. Nearly the entire game allows for simultaneous play, so you don’t lose engagement while someone else it taking their turn. The Remote Play Together integration works wonderfully, as expected. Being able to play a local game across the country with little detriment is a huge bonus feature for a game like this.

Puyo Puyo Champions

Puyo Puyo Champions

This game is puyo straight through. No Tetris, no influx of rating and offers some pretty good tutorials for beginners. I find this much better than Tetris because it’s more than an RNG battle when you vs Puyo as a Tetris or Tetris as a Puyo. That’s all the positives I can give because this game is overrun by bugs and the ones where they can destroy your experience as a player, even for a beginner.

For starters, the ranking in the game is more refined to the point where you are not seeing huge rating changes like in PPT (Puyo Puyo Tetris) and they’ve actually fixed it so that you aren’t getting matched up by a person way stronger than you. The ranking system matches you with a player near your skill level, but here’s the thing, the skill level could be vastly big still, even for a beginner. I’ve been matched with people in the 3000s while I was a 2200 and it completely ruined the experience for me as a veteran puyo player. The fun thing is that you can’t just back out because it locks you into a 30-second agreement to battle each other, which I find not needed because of how many times I and other players bumped into these high levelled players. I even faced against players more than 500 rating points below me and I feel just awful being forced to battle against them. I feel that this is maybe because of the lack of players since steamcharts says that mainly 30-40 people play this around the world per day, but you can get matched up with people from the other side of the world and start lagging, making you do wrong inputs. I do say the 30-second rule stops people from delaying to accept the duel and even gets rid of AFK players which is a plus for this game when it came out from the update. I enjoy playing against others around my level but if I’m going to be decimated by a guy way superior than me, then it’s no fun. This evolves into a few other problems and bugs that are introduced into the ranking system, which is where all the bugs are found.

$10 for what makes PuyoPuyo so fun: the online battles.

If you’re a new player, like, BRAND new to PuyoPuyo, I’d recommend that you hold it off for a little while before buying it. Not to get it on a sale, but for when new solo content gets added in the form of free updates. Since as this game stands of the time I’m writing this review, 90% of its content panders to multiplayer, while the rest are just freeplay CPU battles. No story mode and such, which is to be expected considering the budget price.

“If there are two cubes left in the world, one of them will want to kill another”.

That’s a good description, well..

This game has only one single achievement, which will unlock on startup - nothing else.

Its tags are indie and massive multiplayer.

Quite interesting.

The main menu actually, without some chance to regulate graphics and everything else, puts you towards a choice between a normal mode and a PVP one.

The normal mode, still, will let you choose between 0, 1 or 2 players - choosing 0 players of course will lead you towards the good old SNES auto-modes in fighting games.

Youre a cube that shoots another cube. The controls are wasd + j to shoot…there is absolutely no reason this’d be worth $2. I wouldnt pay a quarter for this…

ClusterPuck 99

ClusterPuck 99

Note: This is my first review and I purchased Clusterpuck 99 for (ironically enough) $0.99.

Clusterpuck 99 has a lot of elements that make it an ideal game to pick up and play if you regularly play video games with people on your couch. It boasts the rare ability to have 8 players play at once (if you have the controllers and USB ports to pull it off, mind you), and what it lacks in graphics, a sluggish pace, and the glaring error of no online multiplayer it tries to makes up for with its simple and engaging concept and gameplay. This simple game (with its ~4 controls) regularly creates the memorable moments that most people look for in local multiplayer games. You know, the ones where people are laughing, yelling, or high-fiving because of momentary displays of skill, chaos, or brilliance.

I wholeheartedly recommend buying ClusterPuck ‘99. My friends and I went out to buy Cards Against Humanity, but ended up coming home with a Steam giftcard to but Crawl with. We had another $10 leftover, so we looked up “great steam multiplayer games”, or something along those lines—and came across this game. We watched the first trailer (not the live-action one) and it peaked our interest. Then we watched the live-action trailer. We were hooked. We experienced some issues downloading it because Steam was experiencing “heavy load” at the time, seeing as it was Memorial Day. It was well worth the wait. ClusterPuck ‘99 is one of the best games I have played in my life. I would be willing to give PHL Collective the funds to make as much DLC or ClusterPuck ‘00 if they wanted (if I had the money, but I’d be willing to work for it). These devs are awesome and so is their game. I can’t recommend this enough. Just make sure you have enough controllers, because everyone’s gonna wanna play.

Garfield Kart - Furious Racing

Garfield Kart - Furious Racing

Thirty seven hours, thirty seven hours is all it takes to see god. Have you ever seen something so magical, so wonderful, that your mind cant help but look back on what could have been. In my thirty seven hours of game-play in “Garfield Kart - Furious Racing” my soul felt as though it left my body. Soon all I could see was Garfield, my toilet, Garfield, my table, Garfield, even my entire house was transforming into Garfield. It was at that moment I realized, it was him, right behind me, staring into my eyes menacingly. I tried to run away but my world began to crumble, the floors collapsed as I fell fifty feet into what seemed to be a massive cooked lasagna, the landing was rough but I seemed to come to my senses quickly. It was then I turned to my left to see Garfield’s massive dong swinging from side to side, his eyes locking onto me as he slammed it down onto the lasagna, I tried to run as quickly as possible but his dong began to suck me in, I screamed as I tried to escape, but no one could hear me. Soon I was being slurped down by his massive sausage, my screams slowly becoming muffled as everything turned black, it was over. Although I am still currently engulfed in Garfield’s massive nuts I cant deny loving every second of it, if your a fellow Garfield lover and love big nuts covered in lasagna please by all means purchase thirty seven copies for you all of your friends, 10/10 would play again, oh also nerf Odie that dude OP as hell.

“I do not assume any phrase can give an explanation for a person’s existence,” says one of the searchers thru the warehouse of treasures left in the back of with the aid of using Jonathan Arbuckle. Then we get the well-known collection of pictures main to the closeup of the phrase “Garfield” on a kart that has been tossed right into a furnace, its paint curling withinside the flames. We keep in mind that this become Arbuckle’s adolescence kart, taken from him as he become torn from his own circle of relatives and despatched east to boarding school.

Absolute bomb of a game. Just go play it its a fighting game drug.

Ahoy,

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R is one of the best fighting games ever made. It was just updated with rollback a little under a year ago and it just received a massive update to the player room system today that, if you just want to play a lot of matches with the time you have, makes it better (faster) than the lobbies used in more recent fighting game releases such as Guilty Gear StrIVe. This game is usually $15 and frequently goes on sale for about $3. The quality to price ratio is the best you’ll find.

Real player with 547.5 hrs in game

Killer Instinct is the best and the most unique fighting game of modern time.

Why? It’s probably the first to shake and transform seemingly eternal rules of fighting games. If you think about, since the iconic Street fighter II they practicaly haven’t changed. Yes, they added more mechanics, more gauges, more crazy characters, more interactions, a lot of things. But none of them ever tried to change the basis of the whole system. Killer Instincs did. And it did so in an absolutely genius way.

Almost all of the other titles are about combos. You learn the best buttons, you learn the most damaging combos, you learn to start them whenever you want. Yes, there’s a whole lot of other things, but in the end it’s all about memorising and performing combos. That’s why watchiing a lot of tournaments is really boring. Especially if it’s something like DBFZ, KOF, pretty much any anime fighter etc.

Lethal League Blaze

Lethal League Blaze

This game’s become a complete obsession. I loved the first game cause of its unique gameplay, though I didn’t get to play it nearly as much as I would’ve liked. When I heard a sequel was in the works I got instantly excited. And how is it? It’s fucking amazing and improves pretty much everything the original had and then some.

The gameplay is refined and smooth, with a surprising amount of depth and strategy required for high level play. Having to utilize all of the moves that are given to you to their fullest, with a bit of mind game and prediction thrown in there as well.

Real player with 526.2 hrs in game

Improves on all aspects of the first game. If you liked LL1 you’re sure to enjoy this installment in the series. Adds a number of new and interesting mechanics and 3 completely new playable characters + the full roster of the first game returns.

I cannot recommend this enough if you enjoyed the first game. If you didn’t play LL1, I would favorably compare this to games like rivals of aether & brawlhalla as far as “easy to get into, hard to master” goes.

2.5d graphic style works really well for this game’s aesthetic.

TEKKEN 7

TEKKEN 7

I have fully gone down the rabbit hole of this game, gotten to the highest rank, won several offline tournaments, made close friends, and I still think this game is not worth your time. The developers are lazy, and Bandai Namco is as corporate greed as it gets. They celebrated 8 million sales with a definitive edition that is 60 dollars and doesn’t even include all of the content. “How should we reward our fans?” Sell them the game again! (incomplete of course, can’t include that juicy licensed content!)

Real player with 1565.0 hrs in game

Best modern fighting game in terms of gameplay, fun at all skill levels and definitely worth picking up for the right price. FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS THE COMPLETE PACKAGE, DO NOT GET THE DEFINITIVE EDITION. It is hilariously overpriced, especially for a game that is on sale all the time. For the current autumn sale, this is what you want to buy:
