Bravery Network Online

Bravery Network Online

  • “Ok, I have the advantage here. My Digital Attack is strong against the fighter they have out right now…”

  • “If they notice this, they will probably tag out into their other fighter with a high Digital Defense stat, meaning I won’t do much damage and they will have the advantage again…”

  • “If I predict their switch, and switch to my other fighter in the back with the high Physical Attack stat, I’ll keep my advantage and then be able to set up the win”

If you like this sort of turn based, mind games type combat, then you’ll love Bravery Network Online (BNO) !! It has a good selection of available fighters (with more on the way) - all with their own pools of possible attacks and tricks they can use. You can build up your team of 5 fighters and fight online against other people in both casual and ranked matchmaking. There are some story and single player elements, but BNO is mostly designed around PvP and playing online - at least at this point in early access.

I wrote my first review when I only played 5.8 hours of the game, and even then, I had a blast with the game. Now, with 195 hours in and getting 3rd place in a community run tournament, and running a tournament myself, I came back to revise my review.

The gameplay is much like competitive pokemon, you and your opponent bring in a fighter, and you select a move without knowing the opponent’s selected move. However, what I find most interesting in this game is that it does not have the random effects that can happen in pokemon. Statuses are not applied by chance, a critical hit is not random, and neither are misses, which are parries in this game. However, other reviews will talk about this at length, so I’d like to focus on another side of the game.

Boreal Blade

Boreal Blade

easily the best melee “fighting”/slasher style pvp game in the vein of jedi knight 2/JA (inc. with mods like MB and OJP/JKE), in my opinion, of all time. whatever genre you want to call it, it’s a coming together of classics like the Jedi Knight series, Die By The Sword, Chivary, Mordhau and to games like Absolver as well to a degree.

To me this game is a beautiful marriage of the elements that made me love “melee slashers” and it’s plagued by none of the issues of other titles. The movement, animation, attacks, attack feedback, abilities and customization are all done beautifully and you can tell what’s going on regardless of how new you are to the game. The controls take a short amount of getting used to, after that it’s incredibly intuitive. It’s an incredible amount of fun to play, shockingly easy to learn and just the right level of hard to master. I haven’t enjoyed being owned by far better opponents or enjoyed owning less skilled players this much possibly ever. It all comes down to the aesthetic, combat feedback and combat design that is IMHO unparalleled by any other game on the market. Name a game with combat that’s more intense, well-thought out and encourages the least anger towards the game than this. You can’t. These developers deserve all the support anyone can give.

Edit: I wrote that because I kept trying to post my review, but I thought maybe it was too long or something so if I would just type something short it would post then I could edit it later, but then it didn’t work, but I guess it did.

Oh my oh my oh my. The beta was already super promising. Sure I didn’t get to play much in the beta since they weren’t many games running, but it was a blast. And I was expecting to pay $20, and then it’s $4, but then on sale for 10% because why not, and, and less than one 5th of the price, and, and… Oh yeah I have to talk about the game.

Found a glitch/bug where if I crouch , I cannot die.

Also I finished this 100% in like what? 2/3 days?

For those who are lazy, get auto clicker. Trust me.

[UPDATE]

Welp, this game got updated. In the old map it was just a small arena.

The auto clicker won’t be as much use now.

This game has little to offer and I don’t see it leaving Ealry Access.

The game has, but not limited to:

-Boring, discusting music

-6 minutes of gameplay

-Insulting achivements that yelled at me for starting the game

-Having got the chance to assassinate anyone in my playtime due to the horrendous aiming

-Dont see a box anywhere

Do not waste your hard earned 6 dollars on this. If you wish to burn 6, just make a salad of money and eat it with some ranch. Much more enjoyable then playing this.

Those that have played ZMR/Hazard ops before already know what they are getting into, its the same game, just a diffrent version that we havent seen in NA/EU before. The game is old, released first time around 2009 or so,a jankier smaller budget gears of wars. Cover mechanics, perfect reloads, fire from cover, all that jazz.

Dont expect any story from this game, its more of an old school arcade 3rd person shooter, and it can be fun in short bursts when it comes to gameplay itself. You choose a map in a lobby and shoot stuff. Several game modes that come down to 2 types in the end, small mini stories called Ops,and wave based survival.

Real player with 554.8 hrs in game

Well I’ve been putting off writing a review but every time I come and look, I see that a negative review (from a guy who I see playing all the time) is the one getting all the attention.

It’s ZMR, Hazard Ops, Black Fire, whatever the hell else it’s been called.

BUT

You need to treat it like its a new game, because unlike the previous iterations there is many more systems added like the crafting, and maps dropping materials, and a whole lot of things that are on the way.

This game has one of the most dedicated playerbases ever, there have been people playing for years and years. But there’s a few players you’ll see every day who got burnt from previous versions being shut down, they’ll tell you the game will die soon and it’s pay to win and a whole lot of other things (while playing the game themselves).

Soldat 2

Soldat 2

It’s a good, fun game, but still lacks a fair bit of refinement.

Hit registration is absolutely horrendous at the moment. You throw a knife at someone, you can see it hits the mark, because it then stops and drops to the floor, but no damage is done.

Similar thing with sniper rifles. You see the bullet pass through the opponent and it does zero damage.

Grenades. Sometimes you hit a person with all 3 grenades and they still don’t die, but they throw just one back at you and poof, you’re dead.

Player balancing system is just silly. When you join a server with an even number of players, you become the poor soul that is going to be tossed back and forth between teams whenever the team you’re in exceeds the other team’s score by 2 (flag caps or bases occupied). You might get thrown into the opposing team just as they’re about to lose. Lovely.

Real player with 71.2 hrs in game

I wouldn’t recommend buying this, even if it’s for nostalgia purposes.

The game is literally dead, whenever I attempt to play there’s noone online on any servers - I’ll join a game and play with bots for a while and occasionally 1 or 2 people may join but then leave after 10-15 minutes.

There’s no Oceanic community, that’s for sure. The only community is a few Russians and Germans that sometimes populate their server, but other than that - it’s essentially dead.

There’s also no effort to boost the player population, such as creating communities for specific regions, simple things such as in the Soldat 2 Discord you can create a rank specifically for their region so people can tag @Oceania or @Australia “let’s populate a server” - there’s none of that or anything close.

Project Xandata

Project Xandata

Project Xandata is a skill-based, team-focused, competitive 3v3 first-person shooter by veteran Filipino developers Secret 6.

Explore an expansive customization system that lets you play in your chosen way. Engage in your chosen play style and synergize with your team to win rounds, collect shards, or eliminate opposing players. Enjoy a world that blends sci-fi & fantasy in a game that blends gunplay discipline with skill-based gameplay.

Choose between the stealthy Agent, nimble Marksman, and tanky Juggernaut. With 2 elemental affinities each, they all have their own unique set of skills. Pick between 9 weapons with various perks that match how you want to play.

KEY FEATURES

  • Easy Access - All classes have access to the same weapons without needing to earn anything.

  • Pace & Movement - Outmaneuver your opponent with agile skills and fast-paced gameplay. A longer time-to-kill balances out the fast movement.

  • High-Impact 3v3 - The smaller team size means players have a more important role in the team, allowing for a good mix between synergy and individual impact.

  • Unrestricted Weapon & Perk System - Pick your weapon loadout then select the perks that work for you. You can choose the loadout that suits your playstyle.

  • MagiTech System - MagiTech is the ancient technology that powers a Xandat’s elemental skills. Master the skills to make an impact aside from just shooting weapons.

4 GAME MODES

  • Corruption - Race with the enemy team to collect enough shards. Eliminated players drop 1 shard and the goal is to collect 100 enemy shards to win. Need more shards? Keep your eyes open for the Obelisk that spawns around the map. Destroy it for an extra 8 shards but be careful of the enemy team!

  • Skirmish - Square off in a time-limited skirmish. Every elimination gives 100 base points, but different manners of elimination give extra points. Turn up the skill and the style if you want to reach 5,000 points first and win the game.

  • Overcharge - Secure the discharged battery, bring it to a Lightning Rod, and charge it to 100%. Defend the battery well because the enemy will try their best to steal it from you.

  • Annihilation - Wipe out the enemy team in pure combat. The first team to win 5 rounds will win the match. You only have 3 revives available per round so use them wisely! Do you go for the revive or can you win with a man down?

4 MAPS

  • Aruum Station - Malandoq’s Lightning Archipelago rests in high orbit, with many interconnected stations that span across the Xandaigdig. Aruum Station is one of the key facilities used for speedy transportation of personnel and supplies throughout the known world.

  • Site Agalon - The Tundra Warlords survive by scavenging the wastelands for trade. Excavation Site Agalon is newly discovered so elite Xandats are still trying to secure it.

  • High Suludlan - Easily the Imperium’s symbol of pride and strength, High Suludlan rests cleanly above the Water Elevator, guarding the Imperium Enclave from intruders.

  • Sundown Forge - This weapons facility is a rogue faction’s contingency plan should their ambition within the Alliance of Nations prove to be untenable. It holds a vast number of schematics and prototypes from various Xandaigdig time periods that can help develop a war arsenal.

Combat Core

Combat Core

A great 3d arena brawler, Combat Core has the “pick up and play” accessibility of a party game while providing room for a lot of technical depth once you understand how the various mechanics work. Fights involve 2-4 players and uses the character stock system similar to Super Smash Bros..

Basic combat involves utilizing weapons, grabs, quick combo strings and core attacks to deal damage to your opponent; as a party game this is enough to ensure a good time if you just want to beat down your friends in a few matches. However, once you understand how the parry and defensive roll mechanics work the technical game opens up considerably.

Real player with 48.3 hrs in game

Combat core is an excellent arena brawler. I highly recommend this game if you want something fun, casual, and different than your traditional fighting games.

The gameplay is very solid. There are no special inputs you have to execute to perform specific attacks, it’s as easy as pressing one button, or you can mix it up with two different buttons. There are a handful of fighters that you can choose from at the moment, they all have their own unique moveset and look.

Before every round you can select a “core”. These grant you special abilities that you can use, such as laser beams, super uppercuts, super piledriver, charged rush, etc… These cost energy points to use during battle.

This game is great! You can get to kick your office coleagues' asses and not get sued for that :)))

Jokes aside, the gameplay is dynamic, and the leveling up scheme makes you feel edgy, looking for hp and xp. Great idea! Enough of the AAA games crap, this is where gold lies. Can’t wait for it to get popular!

Slapshot: Rebound

Slapshot: Rebound

Slapshot: Rebound has got to be one of my all-time favorite video games. Growing up on the NHL series for console, Slapshot: Rebound is a refreshing take on computer hockey video games that hasn’t been done in quite some time. This physics based, arcade-like game is so perfectly intertwined into what the game of Hockey is truly about, that Slapshot: Rebound is a MUST HAVE for any Hockey fan, or sports fan alike. AND ITS FREE!!

The Pros:

  • FREE TO PLAY. This small 3-man Dev team has made this game free to play for EVERYONE. How awesome??

Real player with 579.0 hrs in game

Slapshot: Rebound is an intense 3v3 multiplayer physics hockey game. It’s skill heavy game where you control every aspect of your character from, movements, stick handling to customization. It’s a one-of-a-kind game, filled with original mechanics and fast-paced gameplay. The controls are easy to pick up for new players. After the tutorial, you can hop in a custom game with your friends and start slapping. Lack of skill doesn’t make the game less enjoyable. At that point., every good pass, shot, or play will be exciting. If you play against people your level, even the smallest achievements seem big.
