RICO: London

RICO: London

Rico 2 is a sequel to the first Rico that not a lot of people played, but the ones who did, did mostly enjoy. The game for me was and still is pretty fun for what it is and i do recommend it, despite a few problems that it carries.

In terms of story, it’s just like the first game (which means: SKIP). I like the art style, i think that real XIII style graphics (Cell shaded) are not used enough and i find it charming in this game, which also has a bigger verity of environments and a bigger attention to detail. sound design is nothing special, does what it needs to but nothing memorable.

RICO 2: London has an amazing art style, a classic rogue cop premise and good voice acting. All of that is weighed down to its death by a boring loop system, the same soundtrack played over and over and over again, a needlessly complicated weapon system and enemies who are laughably bullet spongey for zero reason.

Don’t buy this game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition

This game has aged well and still stands on its own merits, even with Injustice 2 available. A fun, casual friendly fighter with a decent story and good overall direction. The characters all look and feel great. In truth, I prefer this to the sequel in a lot of ways. That said, this recommend comes with some hefty caveats:

1. S.T.A.R. Labs is a set of hundreds of side-missions added to the game to pad its length. They generally involve either a flash-game quality arcade style minigame or a semi-normal fight with your arms tied behind your back and/or major RNG components. They are godawful, but there’s an achievement tied to completing them all with the best score possible (but only requires completing 240/300 missions since the last 60 are DLC), so they’re unavoidable if you’re an achievement hunter. I can’t express enough how terribly designed and balanced this aspect of the game is and it was almost enough for me to leave a negative review. Grinding them out is a truly awful gameplay experience, which I think the devs realized since the skins we’d normally have to unlock there come pre-unlocked in this version.

“Gods Among Us: Anyone can be a Hero”

Fighting games have long since descended from their all-conquering dizzying heights (in the 80’s and 90’s) to become almost a niche genre, as both games and gamers diversify. Within this evolving landscape, ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us (The Ultimate Edition)’ manages to brawl its way into contention as a polished, well crafted fighter, that despite its issues, is a fine addition to any Fight Game enthusiast’s collection.

Campaign: Released in late 2013, NetherRealm | Warner Bros. follow up on the commercial success of ‘Mortal Kombat: The Komplete Edition’ by essentially replicating that game within the DC Comics universe. The ‘Campaign’ mode follows the story arc from the ‘Injustice’ comic books, wherein a crazed Joker has killed Lois Lane and detonated a nuclear device in Metropolis. The game picks up with an enraged Superman asserting martial law over the planet and slowly turning from protector to oppressor. Narrated through well conceived animated cut-scenes and interspersed with 1-on-1 battles, gamers assume control of all their favorite characters as well as some others they might not have been so inclined to. The usual suspects are all here – from Batman, Superman, The Joker, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Green Arrow and Bane to a host of newer faces like Doomsday, Solomon Grundy, Frost, DeathStroke and Aquaman. A variety of Single Player Arcade-style Tournaments, Challenges, and lots of unlockable comic lore round out a content-rich title.

System Under Surveillance

System Under Surveillance

PLEASE NOTE: the game is still in development.

System Under Surveillance (SUS) is an upcoming indie stealth game with adventure and puzzle elements, reminiscent of some of the classics of the 80s and 90s. The graphic style is retro with a modern twist, with gameplay taking place in an old-school isometric world, while the story unfolds as an interactive comic book with all illustrations hand-drawn in pixel art!

THE STORY SO FAR:

His only memory is being in a car chase involving his mother, after which, Adam finds himself alone in the middle of a dystopian city, not knowing how he got there. He soon discovers that a mysterious governmental organization is after him, but he has no idea why.

During his struggle to evade the murky forces hunting him down, Adam meets an eccentric cleaning robot. Despite being called TURBO, Adam’s new robot friend is clumsy and slow, albeit with a big (digital) heart. TURBO teams up with Adam in his mission to stay alive and uncover the dark truth surrounding the accident.

IT’S A COMIC BOOK, TOO!:

Get drawn into the game through its carefully illustrated pixel-art comic book. Your progress helps tell the story. Recover the missing pages to piece together the unsettling truth behind the accident and why you’re being followed wherever you go by deadly robots. And the story has only just begun.

STEALTH OR DIE:

In the world of SUS, you have no power over your enemies. You’re completely vulnerable! Without any combat capability, your only chance of surviving is through stealth.

Scan your surroundings and work out how to use them to your advantage. Make the most of each character’s unique abilities to trick your enemies, sneak past them and stay undercover.

SWITCH BETWEEN TWO UNIQUE CHARACTERS, AT ANY TIME!:

TURBO,is a rickety old cleaning robot, but it has some very handy skills! It can:

  • hover above holes to propel itself to new areas;

  • transform into a metallic ball and roll up pipes and down narrow alleys;

  • generate a powerful electric shock by spinning in place, temporarily disabling nearby electronics;

Adam, is a regular boy who is also uncommonly resourceful. He can:

  • remotely take control of enemies, open doors and disable security systems;

  • create diversions with everyday objects;

  • make use of clever gadgets to solve the puzzles in minigames;

  • and more…

NO ORDINARY HEALTH SYSTEM:

SUS replaces the old-school health bar with a threat level. It serves to immerse you even further into the story, bringing you closer to Adam, the ordinary boy whose life depends on outsmarting his enemies. Stay undetected to keep the threat level low, or get detected to make enemies follow you, only to trick them into letting you into restricted areas. The threat level goes back down when you hide. But you can’t stay hidden forever!

Had a good time, reminded me of Custom Robo quite a bit which I loved as a kid. I didn’t play with anybody, because it’s not online multi, which kinda sucks. But the single player had a lot to do. The guilds are a bit awkward to get through, but playing with a full build on day 6 was pretty sweet, lots of things to think about, pretty complex. Looking forward to future patches!

Fast, fun, satisfying fighting game that incorporates a nice blend of different character progression elements. It’s quick to learn but difficult to master and there’s plenty to experiment with. I’m partial to Ignissa but Vito is a close runner up. Looking forward to future updates!

Had fun with this. Took me about 2 hours to beat. Easier/more forgiving than a lot of retro-style platformers, which was a plus to me. Some very fun music, and a grappling hook that felt good to use. Would have liked if it was a little bit longer, but still felt satisfying enough as-is.

I will change this review if need be but so far, you can’t seem to save and the game will crash to windows.

SUPERHERO-X [Alpha Edition]

SUPERHERO-X [Alpha Edition]

This is a very unique fighting game, combining high-octane Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style acrobatics with MCU-style superhero powers and mixing them together with a very well designed create-a-fighter core gameplay mechanic.

There are no pre-designed characters in this game, you create all of them yourself, that is what sets this game out from all the other fighting games.

You want to create a superhero that can summon huge tornadoes that pickup your opponent and send them flying? Or maybe you would prefer to create a lightsaber-wielding Sith Lord type of character? Perhaps you want to create an evil Captain America-like character that shoots lasers out of his eyes like Superman? Well in this game you can do all of that!

Don’t get me wrong… this game has the potential to be good in the right hands but it’s a half ***ed made game. The graphics are okay, the combat is simple with little effort into actual combo’s. I could literally get my opponent in a nonstop juggle combo until I win. You have to play to unlock most of the costumes to even create your character and even then, it’s not enough to keep playing after unlocking everything in 75 minutes of boring loading screens with the same voice commenting the same thing… over and over and over.

LOVE AND HATE.

that’s how i feel about this game

LOVE

for the simple fact that I love anime-style games that have that old Japanese vibe and that music that is so relaxing

designs so rich that they captivate a lot

HATE

I’m not that good at thinking about the attacks I need to be able to finish off the demons, it cost me a lot to know that

I can also say that at first it was difficult for me to understand why he died but then I saw that I was missing an object that is obtained at the beginning of the game

Fate of WINDSHIFT is a game full of great surprises. Surprises such as the artistic design of its characters that are very well achieved and with a very beautiful level of detail in their costumes and physical characteristics that can be better appreciated during the dialogues. It is a turn-based J-RPG that has a certain degree of initial difficulty if you compare it with other games of the genre and that is experienced by the player during the first fight that performs its function adequately as a tutorial, but with some peculiarities such as the skills of each character that transform the battle system into a good combination. As the game’s story unfolds, and the development of the characters progresses, you can appreciate the interactions between them and how this element enriches the experience and the story itself.

Garbage Crew!

Garbage Crew!

Garbage Crew! is a game about chaos! You work in a team with up to four of your friends and an angry garbage truck driver. Your job is to empty garbage cans and containers. Sadly your contract doesn’t state what kind of work you are required to do, so your manager loads you with all kinds of extra work including firefighting and forest work. Naturally you are completely understaffed and your short tempered driver has no intention of stopping the truck and wait for you just because you couldn’t empty all the garbage cans while extinguishing a raging wildfire. Luckily there are heaps of powerups that help you with all these tasks, so your stress level won’t reach dangerous heights.

Gameplay

Garbage Crew! is a roguelike action game so to progress to the next level you not only have to make a fight plan on how to coordinate your operation but also unlock and buy powerups that make your life much easier. To unlock the next level you need to complete all three incentives and finish the level in time. If you’ve made it in time and cleared at least one incentive you unlock a new powerup that will help you advance on your next run! While in game all kinds of unexpected events occur so make sure you come prepared to adapt to all circumstances! After all, you are doing like 10 jobs at the same time!

Return to your timeline

Powerups are nice and helpful, but with great power comes great responsibility. One promising contraption that the crazy professor living behind the dump came up with should have enabled you to slow down time. Sadly but expected things don’t work out according to plan and the powerup teleports you back in time! Despite there being a lot of garbage to take care of in the past too, you obviously want your old life back which leads you to a chaotic journey through time!

Multiplayer

Although you can play Garbage Crew! on your own, the game is most fun when you team up with your friends! Therefore, Garbage Crew! supports local multiplayer with up to four players. Don’t worry you can also play with your friends that don’t live near you thanks to Steam Remote Play Together which requires just one of you to own the game!

Garbage Crew! Will be released in 2022 as Early Access starting with three brand-new levels in completely new eras!
