Jazzpunk: Director’s Cut
The 1960’s were a strange time, atomic paranoia fueled the cold war as the space race allowed mankind to make monumental leaps forward technologically. Global espionage was the tool with which the cold war was fought as agents from both of the world’s super powers battled for information and technology. Amidst all of this, counter culture exploded and use of psychedelics became a new past time. Jazzpunk uses this period of time as an aesthetic springboard for it’s comedic hijinx and in doing so plays out like an episode of Saturday Night Live with an overarching theme to it’s skits.

Jazzpunk is…well it’s…umm…hmm…
Sitting here having finished the game, I haven’t the least bit of an idea how I’m supposed to describe the bloody insanity that is Jazzpunk. I could say it’s a psychedelic love letter to obscure references; an outrageous consolidation of ridiculous moments and hilarious dialog, brought to life with a bizarre art style and deadpan delivery. But what is Jazzpunk really? Well I guess it’s all of these things and so much more; an barrage of creativity held together by forces beyond our understanding. It’s insane and absurd, and I love it so much.

Interactivity: The Interactive Experience
7/10
As the name makes it quite explicit, Interactivity is a game about interacting with things. The goal of the game is to reach The Button, with some puzzles to be solved along the way and things changing each time the game is replayed, as you walk through what seems to be a museum about interactivity, with a narrator that explains things to you along the way. Some Stanley Parable feelings are felt during the game, though not in the same way.
Even with the game changing each time it’s replayed, it’s still a very short game, but an interesting experience while it lasts.

A very dull and repetitive experience. It leads you along with a somewhat interesting beginning that tricks you into thinking there is something worth playing for, but just ends up making you feel like you’ve wasted your time. Each time you beat the game, it loops and alters some things but never adds much content, if any.
Without getting too into spoilers, there is a reveal at the end that further cheapens the experience by making the game completely and utterly pointless in retrospect. I think I would’ve actually kind of enjoyed this aspect if the game was free, or maybe even a dollar, but after spending 4 bucks on this, I just felt a bit cheated. This, as well as all artsy games, have a lot of subtext which I usually enjoy. I might’ve read into it wrong, however the feeling it left me with personally was very cynical and nihilistic, and not in a tongue-in-cheek way.

As I have now actually completed all five episodes of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Season 1, I can give the game a proper review instead of just saying that it’s a cool game for attractive people, even though, you know, it kind of is.
First of all, we’ll get this out of the way: Unless you are a fan of the Homestar Runner universe, there is a probability that you won’t enjoy this game. It makes endless references and jokes related to the series that you wouldn’t understand unless you’ve seen some of the episodes in question. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t buy it just because you might not understand some of the jokes though, either way this game is extremely funny and the humour is very dry, as you would expect from a game where you’re controling Strong Bad.

Paradigm
Paradigm is Strange, disturbing but most of all, one of the freshest games I’ve played in ages and probably my favourite game of 2017 hands down. As if LucasArts some how came back to life and gave disney and star wars a mighty middle finger to them!
Point and click through the bizarre Jacob Janerka’s masterpiece, as you play as the lovable creature Paradigm. A chararter whose looks could rival that of Clint Howard and john c reilly. As you go on heroic to save the world! while trying to make time for Phat Beatsies.

Pros:
-
funny as hell, if you like this kind of funny
-
seamless dialogues, very natural, nothing feels forced
-
hand drawn environments, portraits and cutscenes
-
music is just right
-
points for Fallout reference! (and other classics)
-
Tumour’s voice! ❤️
Cons:
-
you can skip a dialogue on accident
-
some hints are available before the story unravels
Usually I start a review by saying something nice about a game just so it wouldn’t feel too harsh when I go to critique. Not this time. If Paradigm was released in the 90’s it would be a classic of its genre. Unfortunately it was released now, in times when games like that are drown in the sea of very average titles. And yet it shines.

Solar Panic: Utter Distress
The comedy is trivial, easy to grasp but not loud.
It is shallow, but quite interesting at the same time.
Those times when everything else feels overwhelming and normal humor feels like a burning dagger in your back, that is the mood you want to be in when you play this.
It soothes, with obviousness and a promise of something more.
The game is very short, it feels like a very well polished student project, but it is detailed too.
However, 15€ is way too much for this, a big discount is recommended.

THE CORRIDOR
Incredibly simple concept for a game that manages to not only create different puzzles to solve but also leading you on a fun and quirky adventure to push every last button out of spite for the narrator. If you’ve ever played The Stanley Parable, this is a game that’ll bring back fond memories and create new ones that you’ll love to go back to! From going rogue and disobeying the narrator, to meeting a cardboard man with a cardboard plan, there’s bound to be something that brings a smile to your face and gets you laughing and having a good time! Highly recommended, honestly one of the funnest games I’ve played in awhile and it really deserves a chance!
