The Tainted

The Tainted

You play as Jezebel, a mysterious girl who awakens in the woods, with little memory of her past. Unlike most of the humans of this world, she can use magic and communicate with intelligent creatures. In trying to live up to her motto of always doing what’s necessary, she often finds herself in uncomfortable situations.

Along the way to exploring the land of Xanthia, you’ll gain allies to help you face the many challenges that await. Do you have what it takes to stop the Taint?

Features:

Old school, 2D style RPG

Turn-based combat

Partial spell customization

Mature/immature humor

Mini-games

The Tainted was created using the RPG Maker MV engine and makes use of a lot of content created by the RPG Maker community. It attempts to tell a unique and funny story, as well as show off some of the talent found in this often overlooked community. Much of the humor is of a mature nature and is not intended for younger viewers. So, if you enjoy classic RPGs with turn-based combat and are also an adult that still thinks farts are funny….you might also enjoy The Tainted.

UnMetal

UnMetal

Worshipping its inspirations, yet being a unique game

What to expect?

If you are at the age of about 30+, »UnMetal« might have gotten your attention due to its graphical similarities with the top-down »Metal Gear« games (MSX2, NES, GameBoy), and »UnMetal« plays very much like those: While escaping from your prison cell, which you were thrown into for »a crime you didn’t commit«, you explore your surroundings and stumble upon files about an imminent terrorist action you then try to prevent. Sneak around your opponents, distract them, knock them out with your bare hands or even shoot them (but with a catch), use mine detectors and nightvision goggles, disable surveillance devices and so on. In contrast to the aforementioned »Metal Gear« games, »UnMetal« follows a rather humorous approach while referencing iconic scenes from its inspirations. To get a first impression, I recommend playing the free demo.

I first heard about this game a couple months ago and was interested when I saw the retro NES Metal Gear style game play. I played the demo and loved the humor in it. I was excited to give it a go when the game came out and it did not disappoint. The gameplay is great. My only complaint about it is that at times, it’s hard to get right up behind somebody to punch them if you’re approaching them vertically without alerting them. It’s probably more to do with the 2D design than anything else but I had to knock a slight point off for that. Fortunately, after the first few chapters, you get chloroform which you can hold from a greatest distance so you won’t run into that issue again.

Captain Disaster in: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots

Captain Disaster in: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots

I had fun playing the free prequel “Dark side of the moon”, and I thought of giving this one a try. It’s a very different game. Much more polished in many ways.

The visuals are very consistent, increasing in quality as you reach the climax, which is very rewarding. The story has a lot more work, with more developed characters and references to the prequel. The music fits perfectly and sets the mood. finally, it’s really rare to solve a puzzle by chance, or have to do pixel hunting. Almost every puzzle can be solved by applying logic. The dialogs go on the same line as the prequel, with tons of pop culture references, and a bit of breaking the third wall, plus tons of comedy everywhere, as you can probably guess from the title and the trailer. You can tell there is quite a bit of work leaving enough hints for the player to solve the puzzles when stuck.

This is a delightful game that uses a traditional point and click interface. It has all the elements of a successful adventure… witty dialog, funny cut-scenes, well acted voice-overs, a silly story, quests with obscure solutions, and a hero you can’t help but like. In a word, it is just plain fun to play!

You control Captain Disaster as he navigates the cosmos, picking up and delivering a package. What should be a simple errand sets off a chain events that will keep you smiling through the entire game. Cultural references are constant and puzzles range from easy (if you are paying attention to the clues) to obtuse. In the end, I never minded ‘try this, try that’ problem solving because the accompanying narrative kept me entertained.

Internet Court

Internet Court

I have to admit I found Internet Court really funny. It does have a lot of silly moments that make you go what but I loved it from beginning to end. You can beat this within 2 hours but it is really fun to get through. I love the acting being silly but worth it to make a good comedy. The Judge always makes me laugh at every turn. I love the silly ending that connects all 4 cases and my favourite case was the first one. I may not be a fan of the music in the game but love the credits song at the end.

Great writing, including fun dialogue when you make bad decisions (intentionally or otherwise). Clear video and audio with acting by Gamecola staff emeritus.

The judge once said, “I’m going to let you try again, but first I’m going to give you a strike!” giving me my third strike and ejecting me from the courtroom. I might have gotten carried away exploring dialogue options.

Barney’s Dream Cruise

Barney’s Dream Cruise

A fun cute little game. I love the humor and the characters. Puzzles are fairly logical. The game is short; you can finish it in about one hour or two, depending on how often you get stuck. There are no actual choices to make nor multiple endings. It could really use some music, though. (It does have music, sometimes, like in map) ** UPDATE: They’ve added the music. I appreciate the effort. Yeah, it’s just music, but the game feels A LOT better now.

If you’re not sure about buying this game, you can play it for free on mobile devices.

Currently playing this on my gaming channel. I like the zany (and sometimes adult) humor, but I feel like the sudden disappearance and reappearance of music is a little distracting.

Also, I feel like some of the puzzles are a little too nonsensical. I spent a lot of time trying everything on everyone, only to be shocked to find out it actually worked. For example:

! The old bird at the bank kept talking about collecting stamps, so I thought that was a hint to find a cool stamp or something to give to her to make her leave. However, it turns out it’s some random flyer for a shoe sale. ???

Farty Bird

Farty Bird

This is arguably the best game of 2021, I’ve only played at least 10 minutes or so but that doesn’t disregard the fact that this game is made with complete effort making it such an amazing game, the 10 minutes I have played was the best 10 minutes I have had on any steam game, no game can compete to this beast of a $2 game, thank you Bro Code for making such an enjoyable and amazing game.

Neighbours from Hell Compilation

Neighbours from Hell Compilation

First, let’s talk about Steam release.

This compilation includes the original 2 games of the series. You may seen other games which have numbering from 3 to 7, but those were made by other publishers and aren’t exactly official, from what I know. (Most of them are quite ugly and didn’t bring any evolution/revolution to the formula of the first game)

This Steam release is a simple and flat “put game as is”. This can be blamed on that new publishers have no access to the source port or other materials. Thus you will not find any trading cards, achievements, widescreen or any optimisation at all, not even Steam Overlay work in this one. On good side, the game should still work on modern computers.

And that’s how you do it!

I could not believe there is still Neighbors from Hell (Böse Nachbarn in german) available, I played some years ago a game that was a good follow up on this concept and, damn if that game would debut on Steam it will be an instant buy. The game was Prank TV… sadly, I don’t believe that this game still exists.

The game is a classic casual game about pranks, and not getting caught pranking a really rotten apple of neighbor… Meet Mr. Rottweil (well, I just hope that no poor dog of the same race will be harmed by this game) a bad mooded, rotten and foulmouthed stinker in your neighborhood… He did several very, very bad things - like biting a neighbors dog, and now Wally is in for Revenge…

Putin VS Zombies

Putin VS Zombies

It is one of the best games I ever played. Some time is needed to get to know the controls but after that was figured out the game was super fun. As long as you don’t play around you can’t lose because all your abilities are overpowered and super fast ready. After you completed the game all levels reset and get harder. I’ve completed this game around times, it’s just super addicting. The Songs are awesome but a bit loud on my point.

Pros.: Funny Gameplay
