Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist

Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist

This is a terribly broken game; I was stuck at the loading screen for almost five minutes despite having a very powerful computer.

I selected the “No Lasers” mode difficulty, and what do I get? Lasers. I was stuck there for hours trying to get past the rediculous challenge. It’s not even a joke difficulty; the game has a “Lasers” difficutly.

The tiger chased me past where I could clearly tell the chase was over. The funny thing is: Strange NPCs popped up and started dealing with it. Honestly, I could have sworn I had heard them scrambling around before the chase started. I don’t get it!

I’d write a review, but someone is already doing it, seems like I’ll have to wait… Should I?

Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist, which I’ll refer as simply Dr. Langeskov, is an adventure game also labeled as a walking simulator, along the lines of games like The Stanley Parable. It’s a really short game if you’re just focused on finishing it. It may take 15 minutes to 45 depending on how much you look around.

“You can’t, you can’t, you can’t… You can’t play it."

Really interested where the story goes next! I like that there is an interactive mini game inbetween parts of the story and most of the game is grammatically correct or at least to the point where everything is understandable overall a pretty neat start to a game would love to see more types of mini games and the ending was a great set up to part 2! This game allows you to kill all your allies as soon as you see them, which means it already has more freedom than anything Bethesda has ever made. You often get stuck on small objects that barely seem like they collide with your character but this just means the collision is better than anything Bethesda has released. The player character seems pretty slow at first and can’t sprint but that just means this is better than the new Halo. I downloaded this as a joke and unironically had an enjoyable experience. If you like movies that are “so bad they’re good” this game would definitely be worth a play.

Game is terrible, it’s womanizing, I can’t stab woman, there’s story (ew), and my biggest gripe is some idiot comparing this trash to the masterpiece that is Gachi Revenge, To that idiotic reviewer, this game cannot be compared to that masterpiece. Gachi Revenge is the best game on steam and I can’t believe you even compare this GARBAGE to it.

Moral of the story, I can’t stab woman.

One Way To Die

One Way To Die

Short text based game with achievements and trading cards (not dropped, must be bought on market or through badge booster packs) that requires the lost art of reading and that even more ancient art of knowing the reference used for the pun or punchline. I personally nominate this character for a Darwin Award … now 131 times.

This might be free-to-play but the 0.99 cents (US) DLC is worth adding, and quite often on sale for 0.49 cents. 111 different ways to die (with DLC added), some bizarre, some funny, some absurb, some WTF, some STEAM related and all a reference or pun to something (even the page titles). With the 2015 Halloween update there are now 121 ways to die (The 10 Halloween related deaths give the achievement The Hallowest.) The developer added another 10 deaths for 2015 Christmas and claims this will be the last time. (The 10 Christmas related deaths give the achievement Crimson X-Mas). Note: Both of the holiday related deaths and corresponding achievements are only available during that particular holiday.

Every Monday I return home after a less than soothing weekend with family and take my grievances out on my boyfriend by javelining sharp, rough cascades of abnormally peculiar games in his face for the rest of the week. His is usually a face that only sees major titles and nothing else. So I keep picking up random games just as silly as this and as we sit together and play I feel joy in knowing that I’m introducing the surprising amount of fun (and pain) indie games, that wear their simple mechanics and bare graphics proudly like some trendy new quirky armour, can actually be. A lover of such wacky video games, a good deal of my allocated gaming time is spent playing glorious “abominations” on the likes of Game Jolt, itch.io and Desura. There is a difference between badly made games and games of an acquired taste that seem bad unless you know how to consume it. OWtD is like a free slab of English Blue Stilton cheese or Japanese Nattō at the supermarket. So I was dissapointed to see the reproach of less than happy reviews after the inital positive curiosity upon release. This game is a wonderful idea and fun to try out though it is useful to step into this game with a bucket full of greasy, troll humour ridden popcorn.

Absent

Absent

Absent doesn’t quite get off to a very convincing start, but don’t give up on this game just yet! Hang in there and things get a lot more fun pretty soon!

Pros

  • Fantastic voice acting (I loved Danielle in particular)

  • Catchy music that entirely matched the scene (near the end especially)

  • Surprising plot (be patient and you’ll see)

  • Great length (for a free game): many hours of fun and adventure puzzle-solving

  • Many acts and different scenes to explore

  • Interesting and memorable characters

FREE indie point’n’click about paranormal shenanigans in British college. Apply here, mate.

Something happened to Steve’s girlfriend, Crystal. Friday night he was talking on the phone with her, and Monday morning he finds out that she never came back home. As a player, however, you’re privy to a strange event – a paranormal entity taking her…somewhere. Steve doesn’t know about it and immediately considers her murdered by a jock who bullied Crystal the same night she disappeared. This could be the end of the story, but, thankfully, Steve has two good friends who possess common sense (Eve & Murray) and aren’t so sure Crystal was murdered. In fact, Murray is starting to have strange visons that only confirm this theory. Armed with Crystal’s cell phone that was dropped during kidnapping and good, old British humor they set out to unravel the mystery.

Coffee Run

Coffee Run

What can I say, about Coffee Run. Coffee Run is a game that goes beyond what one might expect from a game. Generally, one expects level progression, an actual ‘goal’, and ‘gameplay’. This game does not have any of this, which to a more inexperienced player would seem like a negative thing. But, this is how the game developer decided to tell his narrative.

Now, if you have already played this game you would most likely be asking, “But how does this game have anything resembling a ‘narrative’?” Well, you are looking for the wrong things. The player character is a man in his 20s or 30s who can’t stop running, and what keeps him going, coffee. This basic premise tells us something about him. That he needs to keep running, but why? Well, he needs to collect more coins so that he can purchase the things he needs to survive. Here, the game functions as a metaphor for late-stage capitalism.

Coffee Run, a title that will not only be remembered for the exemplary graphics and music enhancements, but the message behind the run.

The protaganist (will not presume it is a man, it is 2017 afterall) is galloping through the streets in order to get his fix-of-jo. The cars travel backwards-and this is done intetionally. Society has this “backwards” thinking that we should be getting coffee and rushing to where we should be. Meanwhile in the ancient middle east (before the ooolalalala jihadi johns) the turks and arabs and even the dirty persians all went to coffeehouses to rewind and enjoy not only the coffee, but the company of others.

So, uh… a spaceship crashed in my yard.

Cute short fun funny game.

Seems it was made in a GameJam session and for the length of it, it has enough entertainment.

While there are only a few interactions required for the game, the dialogue is where this game is most enjoyable. After some months, I played the game for a second time (plus another 7x for the Speedrun Achievement) and though I new there was a chuckle or two to be had, was still caught out amused by the comedic content and delivery.

Tidy li’l package of a game. Perfect for a light duty game sesh, waiting for games to download or an RPG dungeon to be available. - Unless ur a Healer or Tank, we usually get in straight away ;P -

I went into the steam store wanting to play something truly unknown, and when I picked this up it only had 2 reviews, so the score didn’t even show up and I didn’t know what it was going to be. At all. I was really pleasantly surprised! Thsi game is hilarious. I made a playthrough of it:

Primero, debo de decir que estoy genuina mente impresionado. No soy Español; por lo que no tenía idea el alcance de la filosofía del señor Bueno en España, pensé que era más bien algo de culto y que los profesores y alumnos y alguna gente de hispanoamérica conocía el materialismo filosófico solamente. Por eso no esperaba un juego. El humor también es muy sutil, y me gusta la mezcla de la estética de los comics antiguos como Mortadeo y Filemón. También la crítica a las universidades españolas no esta demás.
