Ruin Hunters

Ruin Hunters is a turn-based tactical game where players must lead a party of three heroes. Wander into the deep of the dungeons, defeat enemies, gather treasures, while your party grows in power.

Features:

▪ Turn-based combat (position your heroes, and choose the right skill for attack or defense)

▪ Use the environment (use it for cover, attack, or just simple push the enemy to it)

▪ Level up your heroes (learn new skills, talents)

▪ Momentum points (some skill generates points, some needs points to cast, but when the hero reaches the maximum momentum, he will be able to perform stronger actions with the skills)

War of the Human Tanks - ALTeR

War of the Human Tanks - ALTeR

Welp, this certainly was a pleasent surprise. who would have thought that having a cute army of tank girls would be so interesting. The music is also interesting and I never tire of the battle/death cries of my, and my enemies, troops.

In the story there are acouple minutes of dialouge then a skirmish. For the battles, you must deploy a tank that acts like a king in chess, if she dies you lose (you can even have multiple). then you can make other units (if it is within the maps unit cap) like artillary (slow but long/wide range) shock tanks (fast/cheap/suicide explosion), assault tanks (medium speed, medium attack range) and much more. There is a fog of war, so you must proceed with care to find the enemy through scouting and prediction based on where you see them fire. You must build and upgrade your units by using supplies from winning or losing battles, so you may have to grind in the caverns or in free battles if you cannot preserve your troops.

This game… this goddarn game.

I’m not exactly sure where to start, so first off: this game is absolutely fantastic! I haven’t played EVERYTHING yet (still need to get Glitch-Heshiko and play the 2 or 3 optional Floor 90+ Battles), but still. The combination of Visual Novel and (Semi-)turn based Strategy game is beautiful and really well balanced, most if not almost all the tanks have their use and encourage players to figure out their favorite strategies and the Modules and combination of them just add to the fun (I still have fun giving my Peko-Peko a Tank Life ensurance and just making her explode, achieving absolutely nothing… I’m an Idiot.).

Mind Over Mushroom

Mind Over Mushroom

This is a very fun turn-based strategy game. The battles have enough difficulty to be frustratingly fun, but not so difficult that I want to quit the game forever. There is a lot of strategy involved. The character variety adds to the mechanics, as a well as the terrain. The style of the game is also aesthetically pleasing. After having it on my wishlist for several months, I’m glad I actually bought it.

Liking it so far. Fun tactics game with a good amount of challenge. Graphics are simple but nice.

Archons of Doom

Archons of Doom

This can be a fast paced game, but if you are very crafty you can slow it down and make it yours, but you will have to have worked on your skill with your spells and any objects you may find.

You can think you are winning and then BAM you are lost! Very good challenging game play by the enemy Archons, they’ll trick you and surprise you with their antics!

A very very addictive game. You lose so you want to try again, you win so you want to better your score. Very repeat playable. I Beta tested this but there were times I loaded this up just to play it anyway as it is that good!

This is in the top 10 games of any turn-based game on the market. I is in my top 20 of all turn-based game I’ve played, ever. It takes a while to hone one’s skills, but that is the fun of the game. I was fortunate to beta-test the game and subsequently I learned a bunch about the mechanics. However, the finished and polished game is even more challenging, despite me knowing several of the maps.

We can also create our own Archons! Having played around 175 hours when this specific feature was added, I thought, “oh, I’ll mop up with my hand-designed Archon along with a hand-picked team. Nah. Wrong. This game is challenging. There is always another Archon with minions that counter your advantages.

I loved the visuals, for a puzzle game, there sure was a lot! (over 30 levels!)

I’m not proud to say that I was stuck in the flower one, though. That one was pretty difficult to understand.

Irongrave Tactics

Irongrave Tactics

-This store page will continue to be updated as the game is developed-

The Emperor has decreed the Irongrave is ready - the tournament shall begin.

Recruit a team of gladiators and compete against friends and AI enemy teams in tournaments in the Irongrave, with tactical turn-based combat.

Tournaments

A tournament in Irongrave starts with you recruiting a team of 5 heroes - however you must pick from 10 randomly generated units - meaning you must be flexible and adaptable to win, rather than just being able to rely on a favorite strategy.

In-between tournament matches you have the chance to heal your heroes wounds, buy magic items, level up your heroes to improve specific stats and abilities and more.

Heroes

Over 18 different classes, ranging from melee Fighters, quick Monks, and powerful Wizards - to Necromancers able to detonate the fallen bodies of friends and foes.

Barbarian - Brash melee warriors able to charge enemy lines with high HP to tank hits, but low armor leaving them vulnerable to enemy status effects

Sorcerer - Ranged magic users that can deal damage in a wide area and set enemies on fire

Blood Mage - Magic users able to pull blood from enemies to heal themselves and shoot their own blood into allies - healing them at a cost of their own HP

Fighter - Melee heroes with high armor and consistent damage, able to keep enemies nearby

Necromancer - Magic users able to summon the dead, their Detonate Corpse ability makes them very powerful at the end of a round

Storm Mage - Ranged magic users focusing on AoE attacks with effects to slow and push enemies

Details on more classes to come…

Combat

Combat is quick paced and tactical - you will need to out-think and out-strategize your opponents, either AI teams or friends over Steam.

Many attacks inflict powerful status effects - from slowing enemies, preventing healing or stunning them. Each unit has a magic and physical armor value that protects them from these effects as long as that armor remains. Inflicting such status effects and keeping your own units safe is a major part of a winning strategy

Swords and Sandals Crusader Redux

Swords and Sandals Crusader Redux

I’ve played all the version of Swords and Sandals.

I like the franchise.

I also, suggested to some friends to buy the “Swords & Sandals Crusader Redux”

But there are major issues I have with the game, regardless of the bugs.

As I always say, bugs can be corrected, but fundamentals always remain.

My problems are mainly with the fundamentals that drive the game, if it makes any sense…

This review is more about addressing the fundamental issues I have with how the game operates and the design of it’s mechanics - most of all, rather than a suggestion not to buy the game. Because if you don’t have any problems with the issues ill state, then certainly go ahead and buy the game.

Real player with 26.8 hrs in game

I played this on version 1.0.5C so some of the bugs or rng stuff(I know Oliver - [game maker] must have add some of these) or locked features the game had to offer are no more. Just giving it a note.

SaS Crusader Redux - I never though any of the future Oliver’s games could beat my all-time favourite SaS2ER classic, but this one did it! It’s greatest SaS game to me so far, and I can’t wait to play every other game mode it has to offer in the future!

This game solves all the frustating problems the original Crusader had. One really good thing to say about this game to compare it to the original Crusader, Pirates, and maybe some other SaS games is that it’s totally not RNG(randomness) based, it truly feels like a strategy game to me, or just a game where simply human skill matters and is on top, not your luck, a good example to show that, is that I managed to win at #1st place all the knights tournaments in a row that I had during the campaign mode. This is fantastic!

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector

A nicely animated, turn-based tactics game between the Primaris-heavy Blood Angels and whichever Hive Fleet.

On the hardest difficulty setting it is reasonably challenging, particularly during the first half of the campaign…

Until you get to the final mission. I got wiped on my first run, which looked pretty bleak, only to discover that hitting the Defeat splash screen for the last mission got me the Steam achievement for completing the campaign.

So I won? You can win too. Wait for a sale unless you affirmatively want to support old school games with Warhammer 40K skins.
