Divide and Conquer: The Board Game

I’m really enjoying this game. The AI is challenging, but not impossible. Fun to play and exercise the brain.

After about 50 minutes of play time, this isn’t all that bad, even though you have only 1 slot machine here to play, there are some others you can buy all 4 dlc’s for .99 cents. I’d say this isnt all that bad for $1.99 it is a way to kill a little time, I do recommend buying this just to kill a little down time?

Very very bad game. It’s boring and has very bad graphics and ridiculously bad sound. I don’t understand why anyone would recommend this “game”. By the way, I love online slot machines and casino games.

Graphics 0/10

Lucky me gets the dubious honour of writing the first review for yet another construction kit template flip on Steam.

Medieval Wars is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from serial copy+paste infringers, Phoenixxx Games. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects from the Yoyogames/GameMaker Studio store and try to scam people into paying for someone else’s work on Steam. They have run asset flip scams half a dozen times, and this is no exception. It’s nothing but a cash grab.

An outstanding game, one I thoroughly enjoyed playing and reviewing. Great artwork, excellent game mechanics, balanced play, plenty of progression, an epic score, and such a tonne of content for a great price. If you are looking for a review, then please take a look at the link above. Otherwise, get out there and buy DragonClash.

PROS:

  • Card game about Dragons' fight

  • nice cards / art

  • complex actions and ruleset

CONS:

  • very confusional

  • not beginner friendly

  • very long battles, if you are starting to grasp the game’s content

  • a little tiring and/or boring

NOT REVIEWED:

  • boss battles / mechanics

  • further ingame depth and progression

As a Dragon lover, i picked up this game because it would have been a nice addition to my library (or hoard, since we’re talking about Dragons).

Also the game game seemed to look nice.

Conflict Area

Good game very underrated, the graphics are amazing, but here are things that i think you should change, the snow map seams really uncomplete, you should add textures to some of the building’s, the bots are always cramped together which makes it very hard to move and its easy to get lots of kills, the other thing is changing knife, currently the only knife is a Karambit it would be nice if you could add other knife, one more thing is that you should be able to have bots when doing Defusal and be able to change the bots difficulty. That’s all, overall the game is amazing and i would recommend it for people who are going to do commentary since kills are very satisfying.

Valor & Victory

Valor & Victory

I was a beta tester, and from the start it gave me that original Squad Leader board game feel, more than any other computer game I’ve played, and I’ve played a lot, really since the beginning, since Pong. It is not overly complex, but the basics of fire and maneuver apply to the game, just like SL. The scenarios are small compared to many games, and they are short. You can play from either side and the AI does a good job. Depending on how fast you play, 30-60 minutes for a scenario would be my guess. There was great improvement in the AI during the beta period. Yobowargames was very responsive during beta testing and worked extremely hard on honing the AI. As with all such games, the AI plays better on defense, but it now can give you a challenge on offense. The AI can now, for example take Pegagus Bridge as the British in that scenario, something it could not do when I became a tester. If you want the elegant Squad Leader feeling without layers of complexity, you will like this game.

If you have any interest in Squad Leader type board games you will not be dissapointed. This is a labor of love by a small team and I think they have delivered on a simple game style that flows quickly yet leaves the player many decisions during game play. I will play any and all squad level games and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses but I keep coming back to V&V for one more play.

The scenarios are quickly played and the AI actually uses some fairly good judgement most of the time. The dev’s have been pretty open to ideas and responsive and I believe there will be a bright future for the game.

Field of Arms: Tactics

Field of Arms: Tactics

Field of Arms: Tactics is a strategy game set in the 18th century Caribbean, recreating clashes between the empires of the time for control of territories, with a unique board game aesthetic, players will face the enemy in a tactical map to defend or attack strongholds in sieges and maneuver units during tense battles.

Using a real time with pause system where every move and action counts, the player will need to be aware of each of their unit’s defensive and offensive capabilities, and also the type of terrain they are standing on.

Features

  • Play as different empires (England, Spain)

  • Play through Scenarios in Historical Battles

– Command different units, each one with unique gameplay elements and abilities. Unit types: Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, and Naval vessels.

  • 18th Century maneuver warfare: Take into account unit properties like fields of fire and broadsides of ships.

–Battlefields with different objectives and plenty of opportunities for a variety of tactics and approaches

– Use different tactics taking into account the terrain. Also be wary of enemy fortifications and Structures.

– Built on Unreal Engine 4

Gameplay Mechanics

Units have the following characteristics:

-Firing arc: Units can only fire in their respective arcs. Infantry fires forward and ships sideways.

-Facing: The unit has to rotate to bring weapons to bear, during which it will be unable to move or fire.

-Terrain properties: Each terrain has defensive bonuses and movement speed depending on the type.

-Unit damage dynamics: Each unit has different damage bonuses depending on the unit they attack.

Unit Flanks: Depending on where the unit is attacked (front, flanks or rear) it will receive damage accordingly.

Roles and gameplay variety

Careful use and positioning of units make the base gameplay for the tactical battles in Field of Arms: Tactics.

Infantry: Main units, makes up the bulk of the armed forces. Exercise a variety of roles and are used to control territory.

Artillery: Long Range units focused on attacking enemy fortifications.

Naval Units: One of the most important features in Field of Arms: Tactics is that you can not only play with the soldiers on the ground but also command the available ships on the sea bombarding from afar and help your army achieve victory.

Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition

Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition

I hadn’t played this game since the 1st edition that came out in the 80s. Back then three Hunters chased a nearly-impotent Dracula around the map, eventually slaying him. Nearly every time, anyway. Dracula had hidden movement behind a screen, and left some rumors in his wake, but the damnable hunter cards would give him away at horrible times, and if you encountered him he would get caught during the day more than half the time (you rolled a die, but the hunters had more cards) - a vampire during the day is as feeble in combat as you would think. We called it “The Frustration of Dracula.” He was fun to play, but it was very difficult to win with him. Still, I have fond memories.

While no game is ever going to translate perfectly from the board to digital I have to tip my hat to Nomad games for taking on Fury of Dracula, not just for doing it, but doing a very capable job.

*When you read negative reviews about the lack of 1 vs 4 during initial roll out of the game, I have to point out that this was clearly posted on the store page well in advance and in the discussions. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone and it’s a poor excuse to give a thumbs down. It was perfectly clear and the developers have repeatedly stated why they released it as 1 vs 1 and 1 vs AI initially, along with their plans to work on and release 1 vs 4. Understandably, the developers want to get it right, so we just need to be patient. Their professionalism and consistent feedback to our inquiries leads me to believe they will get it done.
