TRF - The Race Factory

An extremely fun game to play whether you have friends or not. It’s a very easy game to get into, and even easier to sink into. Especially when competing with the leader boards.

There are various modes and events to try including a pretty easy to use track maker and various different vehicle types!

Recent updates have made the game more stable, and the developer is working on new features, which is really good. Lots of bugs have been fixed since release.

The game has several fun gamemodes, two types of track editor (one currently in beta, as of writing this review), multiple car classes, including street, formula, karts, trucks, boats, among others. The difficulty is alright most of the time, but do not play drift mode on mountain circuit. Just don’t, you’ll regret it. That was the first thing I played, and it lead me to leave a negative review at first.

Concept Destruction In-Depth Review

Concept Destruction is another attempt bring back the Destruction Derby style genre into the modern day, and it does this quite well!

Optimization & PC Settings

In terms of graphics, the game has settings for things like bloom, depth of field, ambient occlusion, but nothing for texture quality, which is a bit disappointing because many of the textures are lower quality, and compressed. This is very apparent on the room texture, where its a very bad compressed 2D image. The optimization is a little hit or miss. I’ll see many times where the game is running a high framerate, but instantly will bog down to 60 - 70 FPS when there is a lot of vehicle parts on screen. For a game that is very simplistic with graphics, its a head scratcher on why the FPS can be so inconsistent. I hope that the developer can improve this optimization aspect, and give us an option to improve texture quality.

So, Destruction Derby/Flatout (well, more DD than Flatout) mixed with Micro Machines (I’m not that old but yeah, I know those). Visually, the game is good, the miniature cardboard aesthetic is done quite well but that’s about everything positive there is say about this game.

The controls is the second best thing to say about this game, why second? Well, they work but apparently the developer doesn’t play PC games cos acceleration, turning and reverse is all mapped to the arrow keys instead of WASD. Yeah, I know I can use a controller, but guess what, it doesn’t work with this game, I’m not sure if it’s the gamepad or the controller so I won’t bash the game for this. I’ll just guess is restricted to player 2 or something dumb like that. Which btw, the game doesn’t have online play, just local and split screen, just like on the good old days of gaming… except I don’t have anyone to play with and can’t invite anyone because… ya know.

ELEC

ELEC

A match-based, competitive, VR racing game heavily inspired by 80s futurism.

Inspired by the neon futurism of the 80s, make way for ELEC, a fast paced competitive VR game.

Start your journey into the world of the game and begin a match with computer players or real players in peer to peer style.

Take your cycle by the grips and delete your opponents as you race around the arena.

Be the last man standing, win for your team, or play in endless roam against bots and take your time to hone your skills.

Not enough?

Each round you can earn “quanta,” the games currency, to buy new cycle colors and helmets to kit out your rider and show off your winnings against the other players.

Are you ready to take the planes of ELEC?

I’d like to see you try.

In Other Words:

For a long time, we’ve had this idea about a game of this nature.

Something fast, but simple, that still required elements of strategy and skill.

While there’s plenty of games on the market that fit these requirements, none of them felt like what we wanted.

So, what do you do when you’re a couple of programmers, wishing there were a game that felt like an idea of yours?

You make one.

So we did.

Taking inspiration for the games in a certain movie from 1982 that shall not be named, the mechanics were there, all we had to do was implement them in a way better suited for modern gaming, specifically, for VR.

Work started on design and prototyping April 13th, 2021, and here we stand, proud of our work and ready to share.

But that’s not all, oh no. We have plenty of big ideas for the future of ELEC.

So stay tuned, and enjoy!

NOTE:

Native Pimax support, full wide fov, no parallel projection required

200 character summary

PocketCars is a nice RC combat racing game with a lot of potentional It looks great and has very nice physics simulation, It does lack in content for now, But the gameplay is already extremely solid.

Gamemodes & Gameplay 7/10

The game only has one game mode for now, Seasons, Here there are 36 events, Some are time trials some are normal races some force the use of a specific car or tyre or only allow a certain class, Each race has 3 challenges, Like hit an amount of cars, evade mines, hit a certain laptime or finish first. You can do the same race 3 times to complete each challenge seperately. Each challenge gets you a star and a certain amount of stars in a season will unlock you cars, tires, weapons, but also new events and new seasons.

A lot of fun to play, but the regular graphical glitches are irritating.

This game is a ton of fun. Driving these cars around is a real hoot. They slip and slide and scramble for grip in a way that’s really engaging and reminiscent of real-life RC cars. It’s this that sets it apart from other driving games and provides a lot of enjoyment for young and old players alike. The challenge is fair, and you are encouraged to try out the various play modes. The ‘stunt’ mode is very inventive - allowing you to throw your car around in search of trick points. The weapons are OK but nothing to write home about.

Wow, is amazing. Chaotic and in some moments peaceful, and I really really love the cars and characters xD, very good early access. The online mode is perfect to play with my friends, but I suggest that at the end of one online race, keep in the room with the same players, althougt I understend that is a recent release

A nice and fun arcade racing game with some original mechanics and nice details like the cars (I miss some iconic cars like a doggo van), Since I use the keyboard I will love to be able to change the keys, also I want to see what the developers have to offer during the EA.
