Nerf Legends

Nerf Legends

The multiplayer does not work

The graphics are limited to three settings with no option to turn on/off v-sync

Frame rate is awful

There’s a latency issue whenever you fire

It acts like you can change controls but you can’t

Reload animations are broken if you melee

And the melee… oof.

Melee is literally broken. It honestly is way easier to just go around hitting stuff with melee (which makes no impact sound I might add) then shooting anything. The game feels very uninspired and unfinished. I played less than 2 hours and I already found several ways to break it. Don’t even consider purchasing it unless you want to torture yourself.

I Regret This Purchase Immensely

for the love of god don’t play this

I managed to play this s*** heap of a game for about 3 hours before I got so sick of it that I requested a refund immediately before posting this review, for context.

Despite the adverts promising a true blue nerf experience (so an fps but foam flinging) this disaster is one of the buggiest, most horribly designed, and outright rage inducing shooters I’ve ever played. But we’ll get into that. If you’re looking for a tl;dr of the situation, there it is.

Waltz of the Wizard: Natural Magic

Waltz of the Wizard: Natural Magic

This is, by far, my favorite VR game- and I have a LOT of VR games- so this review is going to be long, but I feel like, even though this game is popular, it still isn’t getting the praise it deserves.

The VR market is, in my opinion, oversaturated with zombie shooters and fighting games. There are a few RPGs, but they don’t really let you do anything off the path they set out for you. They’re like rail shooters in an RPG format. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed games like Mage’s Tale and Asgard’s Wrath, but they lacked the thing I look forward to most in VR, free will. It blows my mind how lacking the VR market is in games where you can just do whatever the hell you want, it’s the perfect platform for experiencing life in fantastic ways. For this reason, I see Waltz of the Wizard as VR’s golden child. It may be “short” as far as having a to-do list, but no other game I’ve played has been so immersive. I get to be me, but me as a wizard, doing whatever I want to do, exploring and discovering without worrying about anyone trying to keep me tied to a story line where I’m only allowed to discover things when they say I can.

This game is mostly just a tech demo, and there is a free version out there you can play with instead. This one is very cheap, and it is the tech demo that sold my family on VR. My dad said “Its fun, 400$ Well spent son.”

We named the skull Bob, I don’t know his real name nor do I care, my first thought was of the Dresden Files talking skull, so that’s what we called him.

The games concept is pretty simple, you are a wizard, likely one that has lived for a long time, with a fully stocked pile of ingredients and a cauldron bubbling away on the desk, if you show Bob an item he will explain what it is, in a dark and spooky reverb voice.

Out of Place

Out of Place

Out of Place deals with a serious theme telling the adventure of a teenage protagonist and his machine companion.

It shows the challenge of questioning the irresponsible actions and opinions of older generations without losing your roots. Moreover, it underlines how hard it is to overcome the fear of the future, but instead take action for a better world. These topics are embraced in a relationship between two teenage boys from different dimensions who form a strong bond to help each other despite their cultural differences.

The intense experience is accompanied by beautiful handcrafted visuals and soundscapes.

ACTION TACTICAL COMBAT

  • Machine-like companion as a unique character that provides an immersive UI

  • Action-packed combat system with puzzle elements and tactical variety

  • Use your companion dynamically to react to the variety of events in the game world

EMBRACING EMOTION IN GAMEPLAY

  • Seamless transitions from gameplay into cinematics

  • Protect your companion in precarious situations

  • Atmospheric moments without combat system

please note that this current review is an edit to my original review, it will be quite long but its worth putting out there.

firstly when i first got this game i hated it, i wont lie about that because honesty is the best policy or at least thats what i have been raised to believe. anyways i left a rather hateful and scummy review saying that this game wasnt worth it even if it was literally given to me and looking back i realize i was a bit harsh in my words and judgement. i would like to thank Jake for contacting me and letting me know about the changes made to the game. there was a lot to look at and even with the time i accumulated (its not much but its enough for this purpose) i can now see that many changes were made for the better. there are alot of pros with this game that now allow me to change my negative review to a positive one, however there are still issues i would like to address with the game following the reasons i now find this game worth it.

Unknightly is a very solid stealth game so far. The team has been steadily adding features based on player requests and there’s plenty of fun to be had even in the first few available chapters. Peaking around corners and lurking in shadows just feels great in VR.

The enemies behave appropriately in different situations with guards becoming slightly suspicious if they only catch a glimpse of you or moving in if you’re fully visible and making too much noise. Other guards will also start hunting you if they’re near an alerted friend so you have to think quickly to limit the consequences of an ill-conceived approach. The variety of postures and communications from the guards combined with the clear visibility and noise meters support an observant and cautious play style.

The Vale: Shadow of the Crown

The Vale: Shadow of the Crown

I’m a long time gamer and someone who has seen pretty much everything when it comes to RPGs so imagine my surprise when I found something that offers a unique gaming experience! While this is an RPG, it’s also in a category of its own in terms of mechanics and that’s hard to do in this day and age.

Whether you’re blind or sighted the game has a lot to offer, it tests your ability to perceive the world through sound alone (use a headset!) Your success of failure depends on your ability to recognise the direction and distance of different sounds and respond accordingly.

This is a very unique title and I will start this review by applauding the concept!

If more games like this gets developed and expanded upon, I’ll be slightly less panicked by the thought of loosing my sight one day..

But I think there are things to improve on:

I feel like the difficulty is too low at first; those super slow charge-up roars, like every enemy is doing a Frostie’s commercial, it felt almost condescending. Of course, later on, when a thousand things are happening at once, they’re a welcome variety, but I feel like they should learn pretty quickly to not use such an over-telegraphed attack? But maybe that’s just a necessary narrative compromise for the game to exist, like the fact that we’re never attacked from behind…

Our Hero! First

Our Hero! First

I discovered this game by chance and I was really surprised by the story cause it is adventuros and charming and also funny (I enjoyed its sense of humor). I still have to finish playing but I am sure I will have a lot of fun. The characters are nice and some of them also weird (some of them looks so dumb lol), I like the style and it is evident that those who created the game put a lot of effort on details.

I reccomend it, it is really worth it.

I hope to play more games like this one!

Our Hero! First is an action adventure RPG (not turn based which I love). The sprites and animation are cute and fun and the story is original and not bad. I found no bugs or glitches while playing it and it has good frame rates. There are lots of different swords and enemies to fight, as well as lots of boss fights. The game doesn’t overstay it’s welcome and is enjoyable throughout the whole adventure of Our Hero. It doesn’t have tons of crazy features and is simplistic and easy to learn. I think this game is best for Younger audiences just going in to the world of RPGs, but is a good game for everyone who enjoys them.
