Feylin

Feylin

I like the art and I think that it has potential to be pretty good. I am unsure how to accomplish it but the mouse being the indicator of where you swing your sword isn’t that good when you’re constantly moving around. A different control scheme would certainly help. A little more content would be nice but for the price it was a pretty decent framework for a game. I would also recommend more sounds for when enemies are hit and different ways to attack. Great start for a game but definitely needs work.

MidKnight Story

MidKnight Story

MidKnight Story is a story driven adventure action-RPG set in a steampunk & fantasy open world.

The game focuses on three core gameplay experiences: Exploration, combat, and story.

The player will take control of Paran, a young scavenger, who’s able to explore the game world in its entirety, climbing up buildings and towers in the main city, swimming on the surface and underwater to reach wild islands and grottoes, gliding and dashing with a special sword, sneaking into tight spaces, and breaking through walls with explosive barrels.

In terms of combat, Paran can approach his nemeses hidden and launch a surprise attack, or he can throw himself into battle head-on. The choice is up to the player. He will also need to alternate between using his sword and pistol to best defeat each enemy.

In exploring the world of Numia, and defeating the enemies he finds there, Paran earns Cogs and collects ammunition, potions, and experience points. To collect these XPs, he must use the special capabilities of the sword. Like in many classic RPGs, experience points are needed to level up and improve Paran’s stats.

By discovering secret places and defeating the most formidable enemies, Paran will earn rare treasures to keep in his collection.

MidKnight Story’s adventure begins when Paran discovers the sword called Durindana. The legendary sword will serve him in more than just combat against enemies, in fact it will be the very key he needs to unlock the world of MidKnight Story and to reach new levels within it.

The sword will be upgradeable to unlock new abilities, with features such as the propeller that allows Paran to glide from place to place and reach areas previously unexplorable.

I’ve been looking forward to this game since I got my hands on a super early version at Day of the Devs 2018. The game has come a long way since then, and has turned into a beautifully crafted world with a story that you must piece together by finding memories throughout the game areas.

If you played the demo of the game, you got a single short level where you were able to power up real quickly. The final version spreads out the powering up over the course of the entire game, making it feel like a true metroidvania. You’ll pick up powers such as double jumps, dashes, and hacking abilities that let you manipulate certain things within the game. There are also a total of 5 different weapons to find. I finished the game in about 9 hours of play time.

Really went into this game wanting to like it and I’m mixed.

-The Demo-

I played the demo since I love neon and synthetic world kinds of aesthetics (Tron, Fract OSC, Heavy Bullets, Reboot, ect). It just has a cool world look/tone and feel. I’m for it.

Real good conveyance for where to go and what to do, and the ability progression was so well paced and rewarding.

Great demo, I was excited for this game ever since.

-The Game-

Playing this game still has a cool look/tone and feel. I really like the main character’s flashes of light, the particle effects and jitter. The world is a particle effects display that is so enjoyable.

Tidal Shock

Tidal Shock

This game is addictive! I find myself wanting to play “just one more round” again and again. I love the array of weapons and the variety of terrain in the arena makes it slightly easier to navigate as you play more. Controlling your character underwater in 360 degrees is a new take that makes this game all the more entertaining and challenging.

I’m not great at this game (or any multiplayer shooter for that matter), but I keep coming back for more. Even if I’m not in the lead, I always feel like I’m still in the running. The lead changes often throughout the round and your position in the game can change in a split second with one profitable kill or one strategic drop off at the reactor.

Gameplay

Tidal Shock is multiplayer arena shooter with an underwater setting. At first glance, it looks like your typical shooter where you run and gun to make it to the leaderboards and for the most part, it is just that.

What makes it stands out from other shooters though, is its setting. Instead of running around in corridors or jungles, you swim around underwater. This gives you the freedom to move around both vertically and horizontally. That not only translates to movement but also for enemies to look out for as the enemy can be right on top or bottom of you.

The Divine Invasion

The Divine Invasion

Sort of cyberpunk slasher

Truly decent action/slasher in cyberpunk style. In this game you’re going to be a hitman emerged into beautiful Sci-Fi environment. I can also tell that combat system is rather good, you can fully enjoy it when fighting multiple enemies simultaneously: dodging attacks and activating slo-mo. Didn’t notice any bugs or something, I wouldn’t even say that the game is on Early Access.

  • Beautiful graphics

  • Good storyline

  • Dynamic gameplay

I’ve added this project to my wishlist because of the very interesting and unique story. Today, when I’ve seen graphics, I made purchase and I’m glad I did it. I understand It’s still Early Access, but even now game looks cool. As a huge cyberpank genre fan I’m glad to add this game to my collection and I will recommend to keep an eye on it to any cyberpank games fans.

Intrepid Izzy

Intrepid Izzy

Intrepid Izzy is a great game that has the old school charm with new age design, graphics, and personality. This game reminds me of the “New Super Mario” games on Wii or Switch. There is that nostalgic feeling while playing these games but also a fresh and relevant game play for 2020.

Playing Intrepid Izzy, you have the freedom to move around and re-enter stages. This is part of the games charm, as you acquire new suites while going to different levels. These suites give Izzy powers, such as fly/glide or climbing walls. As Izzy progresses through the game, she can go back to previous stages to find additional key items.

This is a case study on how important sounddesign is in a game. Visually the game is top notch but then you have 15 sec looping music and bad stock sound effects that really distract from the experience.

I do recommend the game but only with the music turned off.
