Soko Loco Deluxe

Soko Loco Deluxe

I’ve looked at quite a bit of the games that sok pop has put out, but I think this one gives you the most bang for your buck. If you really enjoyed messing around with toy trains as a kid or like a simplistic resource manager time waster I think this game is good for you. Several levels, difficult challenge modes that force you to understand all of the games mechanics. My only complaints are the inability to move the camera around in a 360 degree view, along with some of the very challenging flag mode stages. I just wish the developers put more time into this game to flesh it out even more with more feature and maybe a story.

One of the most entertaining games ever! I’m a fan of 2D strategy/puzzle experiences like Into The Breach or Rimworld, and this game clicked with me in a similar way. It is well balanced and designed. For me it is like a hidden gem! Mechanics are simple, but complex enough to engage for days. Only drawback - sometimes pixelart UI elements are hard to understand, but one can get used to it after first few missions, otherwise it is a very elegant game, worth trying! I had to write this, I spent 16 hours in this game and I have it for like 2 days. It was hard to turn it off to leave this review. OK, now I need to get some sleep it’s 4am where I live… :D

No inertia management (the main interest for a train sim). When you put the power to 0, the train stop instantly. So… useless.

Train Valley 2

Train Valley 2

I loved Train Valley and although I initially preferred it as I play more of TV2 I realise this game is a bit better. It’s addictive laying tracks and trying to get the correct trains to the correct stations, upgrading them so they carry another carriage and go that bit quicker, and buying more trains so I can shift goods and people more efficiently. It’s easy to stuff up a single track route to have trains crash or go into the wrong station - but that is all part of the fun and puzzle aspect of the game. Striving to get 5 stars on each challenge is also always achievable (in my plays anyway) but might take you a few goes, which means a little bit of replayability for each map.

Create goods via different stations that rely on each other! Good gameplay, supported by a friendly community.

Solve the puzzle!

Every level is a puzzle: several towns require goods in order to finish the level. Those towns produce workers, which are required in most crafting stations. For instance, if the town needs glass, you first send workers to a sand excavation station. There workers are converted into sand over time. The sand then is transported to the glass factory, along with a new supply of workers. Finally the glass is transported to the town. The ratio is always 1:1. So before you start the level you can calculate how many workers need to go where.

Red Trains

Red Trains

Red Trains is a strategic simulator game. Build tracks to connect industry and cities. Customize locomotive designs to optimize for particular goods and routes. Manage your political clout to avoid being removed from your post.

Train Design

Train design involves balancing train strength, speed, and capacity to optimize various cargo types and different length routes.

Research

In Red Trains, research progresses automatically without your input. The People’s Republic never stands still. You can, however, affect the direction of research and make requests for particular areas to be investigated. Research unlocks components for train design, increases production, and even enable new types of rail tracks.

Signals

To better manage train pathing and scheduling use signals. While collisions never happen in the People’s Republic, deadlocks and other problems can occur if signals are not skillfully and carefully placed.

Story Scenarios

Twelve novel scenarios with light story to provide alternative play experiences.

StarScraper

StarScraper

I have loved watching this game grow and can’t wait for it to grow even more.

I love the variety of rooms,

The music is kinda cute,

I love that there is a management side to it,

The requirements of the rooms give it a bit more of a challenge.

I do feel like there are some improvements to be made but they all seem like minor things.

It would be nice to not have to click so much. The option for a tutorial would be helpful too.

And the option to customize the over all color of your tower to give it the aesthetic I would want.

Real player with 10.7 hrs in game

StarScraper is a fun chill game. It’s feels sandboxy. There is some progression, you unlock rooms and amenities. There’s not campaigns or scenarios. It gives you a lot of room choices up front rather than having to unlock a bunch, which I think is what gives it the sandbox feel. I haven’t tried the Speedrun Mode yet though.

I’ve never played SimTower, but I’ve played a lot of Project Highrise. Very cool to have another tower builder game to play.

I’m not into making the most optimal money farm, so I’m not playing it that way.

Eggcelerate!

Eggcelerate!

Tim Beaudet’s, Eggcelerate!, brings a spin on racing games, where your objective is to finish the level without dropping your egg. A novel twist on the classic egg and spoon races, that as kids we are too familiar with, with just as much frustration.

From the sound effects to the music, it is a quirky and fun little game, that will certainly test your patience.

It didn’t take me long to realize that this game is impossible to play with a keyboard, so word of advice, unless you have nimble fingers and a keyboard that allows for great reaction times, then do yourself a favour and grab a controller, and have some fun.

Real player with 50.2 hrs in game

Eggcelerate! is a game where you can sink your teeth, playing hours on end trying to beat the developer’s time.

Opposed to other games, the times set by the developer are very challenging!

If that wasn’t enough, you can try and compete on speedrun.com/eggcelerate !

Even if you’re not that of a hardcore gamer, this game is still a great content.

The many puns, silly sounds and overall aesthetic that cracks you up every time you play.

A solid game to try if you have a couple of hours to spare.

Haulin' Oats

Haulin' Oats

This is a game about truck driving, the US highways, and oatmeal. During your time as a truck driver for the Starkham Oatmeal company, you will be tasked with delivering crates of delicious oats to the local grocery store. The roads are fraught with dangers, as well as delights, so be sure to take along a trusty co-pilot and / or pet.

Arranged as a digital board game, you will encounter a wide variety of characters and obstacles ranging from drug cartels, bike gangs, random maniacs, pop stars, police, serial killers, and the few folk that aren’t completely crazy. Make your way around the board and collect your wages every time you complete a delivery then return to the warehouse. Use it to buy spare parts for your truck, the favor of lot lizards, or sometimes bribe your way out of trouble.

When you start a game, each player will get to choose one of eight different drivers; with three locked by default. Each has two strengths and weaknesses, like bonuses to truck ramming checks or penalties to dealing with the law. Mix and match the different drivers with co-pilots and pets to get the upper hand against your opponents.

Just like the drivers, each co-pilot and pet has one different benefit and disadvantage. If you get a bad Incident card draw, you might just accidentally leave ‘em at a truck stop somewhere for an opponent to scoop up. If none suit your play style, you can choose to play without one if you want.

Special guest characters (drivers, co-pilots, and pets) can be unlocked through different quests or by doing certain things a bunch.

Old friends from our previous games make surprise appearances. One cannot go through Starkham without seeing familiar faces like Bill Finnigan or Aloysius. They are sometimes found in Encounter or Incident decks. Depending on who you find, they may have a mission for you or an item to barter.

There are a lot of other characters as well. Scattered throughout the Incident, Encounter, and Resource decks various characters await you, either to rob you blind or give you mini-quests to complete. Heck, some might just need something as simple as a ride down the highway a bit or a wee bit of your money.

A quick and dirty list of features, for those of you who like bullet-lists:

  • Music by Azucar, Yoshua Shafer, and El Castor

  • All hand-drawn art

  • 36 squares all filled with adventure

  • 8 different drivers, 8 different co-pilots, and, of course, 8 different pets (including special guests)

  • 50 different cards per Encounter, Incident, and Resources deck

  • Play with others in online or LAN multiplayer

  • The usual breakdown of statistics and leaderboards to measure yourself against

  • Achievements that actually unlock stuff

Whether your driving record is spotless or you’ve played one of our games before, get some quicker in-game unlocks with the Mileage Club! For each of our previous games that you’ve owned or played (demo, family share, or free weekend), you will unlock guest characters or table accoutrements.

Haven’t done so or don’t got ‘em? Don’t worry, you can get all the same characters and bonuses by just playing the game. And with a little elbow grease.

Food Delivery Battle

Food Delivery Battle

Update 9/3/2021:

This day marks the end of my food delivery career.

After a fierce battle, my arch nemesis “NiiChungShanChiiShingChun” beat my WR, ate my tofu and had sex with my wife. In the past, everyone respected me and looked up to me, but now even beginners laugh at me and call me a pathetic loser. I put my life into this game, poured thousands of dollars into my bike, practiced every corner at least 100 times a day and then NiiChung came and took everything from me.

I hate you Niichung…
