Magnesium_173

Magnesium_173 is a turn-based, movement-based puzzle game with time-related mechanics that are loosely based on quantum physics. The developer was kind enough to give me a free code for the game just for showing interest in it prior to its launch, and I had a good time playing it, but you’re probably more interested in whether I think the game is worth its current base price of 15 USD or not, as that does seem a bit hefty for this type of puzzle game, and after giving it some thought, I would have to say that I think it’s worth just that, and this review will explain how I came to that opinion.

Classic puzzler with a modern aesthetic, lots of little delightful moments within the UI really make the experience.

Update: It’s been a few months, and I feel I should update my review with more detail. This is a phenomenal game, and I didn’t realize how much so until I had a friend over and we were playing through a level together. The logical progression within this game is outstanding and satisfying, so much so that talking it out in real-time with someone is both helpful and enjoyable. Pick this one up!

A Day

A Day

The first 1-2 hours I thought the game was absolutely brilliant. Not paying attention to the description of the game on the store page that mentioned you’re going for a high score, I kept thinking I was unravelling a puzzle that had a bunch of pieces that needed to be put together to have a grand finale of a story. There is an absolute gem of an idea for a game here but I think having simply made it high score driven instead of more narrative focused is a huge missed opportunity. I loved and hated this one. Loved the concept, hated the fact that after 3 hours I felt empty knowing that I was just going for points instead of something bigger.

‘‘Sonder: the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own’’.

That’s how A Day makes me feel.

The game is short and beautifully crafted, you play a different cast of characters each with their abilities, goals, and needs, over the course of a day

the Goal of the game is slowly stitching the fate of every character in a way that in the end, they can help each other.

Claire’s Cruisin' Cafe

Claire’s Cruisin' Cafe

I was hesitant at first because it give me a Delicious Emily clone type vibe. However after playing it, it does had its own charm. The graphics is really pretty, I love it very much. Gameplay is good, I like the two person serving together feature, it still need some work but good still. However, there is some part that I feel like too bland, the cutscene at every level, the story is still decent but the way it present is boring, it just give speech bubble to tell the story without animation, it feel boring after few level. Most of challenge is repetitive and not challenging enough. Overall I still like the game, it’s a beautiful game. I looking forward to the sequel with more improvement.

Claire’s Cruisin' Cafe is a casual time management game with a cooking theme. You take orders from your customers, use different machines to prepare the dishes, serve them and bill them after they’re done eating. It’s not a revolutionary idea, it’s actually been done many times before and also in several other variants (fashion design, hospital care, veterinary ward, murder investigation etc), but it’s the kind of game that I would prioritize playing above almost any other.

In terms of genre / game design, GameHouse titles most likely come to mind first, since they are the most popular on Steam among players who enjoy this kind of games. The present review aims to draw a comparison between Alawar Entertainment ’s Claire’s Cruisin' Cafe and GameHouse’s Delicious series.

This game bring to us a new thing that i really loved

Now we can use our unconscious competence in a game mode with just 5s to act

So we can practice and learn without timer and put our brain in a tough test and see if our learnings are really deeply embedded

Great Game!!!

This game is so much better than the first one! The stellar archive is very cool and the soundtrack is awesome! The new time mechanic is no joke, you need to think fast, but the freeze time and swap commands help you get through it. The new options of hexgrids changed everything and the hardcore mode is for pros, but the classic, soothing mode is there too for the oldschoolers. Congratulations Nukearts! Keep up the good job!

Quite a neat little adventure thing, with ample help for the player if you risk getting stuck (as I often am, not being the greatest fan of the genre)

Arise: A Simple Story

Arise: A Simple Story

Super Mario 3D World, if everything weren’t cats, they removed the Wii U gamepad, and wasn’t Super Mario 3D world

Random title cause I felt like it. I’m not sure on whether to give a ‘recommended’ or ‘not recommended’ for this game, cause it’s a 50/50 split between aspects of this game that I liked, and the ones that infuriated me.

Pros:

  • The Level Designs are amazing. Most games with a persistent time-switching mechanic only have 2 versions of the same map that show the past and the future, and pressing a button transports you to one or the other, but this game lets you slowly see the polygons shift whilst giving you the feeling of manually seeking and rewinding time like it’s a tape recorder. While most puzzles require you to only go back and forth between 2 points in time and freeze it, some puzzles

! (like the rolling boulder or the falling log in level 3) have you constantaneously scrub time and walk at the same time.

Arise is a simple yet clever puzzle-platformer that pushes the puzzle-platformer genre in the right direction. Arise is a soulful, relaxing game that revolves around a man’s journey of reliving his bittersweet memories with his partner.

It’s sweet, it’s simple and it’s truly emotionally driven. And combined with its beautiful world and enjoyable gameplay, we have an all-rounder on our hands.

Nice game. But!!! If you have AMD hardware you could find your computer thrashing away while running this. It doesn't happen with Hercules games. Sadly needs updating before it is usable. For reference I have 5800X and 6800XT GPU, This can run most games at 4K with settings turned up.
