NUTS

NUTS

Nuts is a fantastic little game with fantastic art and sound design. I played the demo when it was released and immediately fell in love with the look and feel of the game. The best way I can think to explain the extreme appeal of this game to ME is that it feels like you are occupying a liminal space. Like you are on the threshold of two planes of existence. From the desolate bus stop that you initially arrive at to the wide empty forests with these strange little squirrels being the only living things besides yourself… it’s strange, perhaps even a bit eerie in later chapters, but overall peaceful.

I feel like I am the perfect audience for this game—I love Firewatch, Gone Home and almost all first-person adventures / walking simulators. Recently I’ve enjoyed Call of the Sea and Old Gods Rising, despite their flaws. But Nuts left me very unsatisfied.

The success of a game like this rests on three things: The game world, the puzzle mechanic, and the story. Ideally, all three would be great, but usually one of them is weaker. So, Firewatch has an incredible game world and characters, but weak puzzles. The Witness has an incredible game world and puzzles, but no real story. Sadly, Nuts has an incredible game world, but the puzzle mechanic and plot just did not work for me.

Born Punk

Born Punk

A former combat hacker, a corporate CEO and a malfunctioning android get possessed by mysterious, otherworldly entities and must band together to save themselves and uncover the entities' origins. Talk, puzzle and explore your way through this (often humorous) cyberpunk thriller.

Bornholm. Today, a quaint island in the Baltic Sea. In 2155, a sprawling metropolis able to compete with major world powers. Thanks to the Space Elevator, a technological marvel built by Bornholm’s corporate consortium, The Conglomerate, few nations on the planet are more influential both in industrial matters and space exploration.

In Born Punk, the player slips into the role of three people (well, two people, depending on your stance on artificial lifeforms) living on the island: Eevi, a corporate combat hacker turned bartender down on her luck; Mariposa, the CEO of Bornholm’s biggest corporation; and a malfunctioning android who calls himself Grandmaster Flashdrive.

The three characters have one thing in common: they all, one after another, get possessed by strange entities of unknown origin and even less known intentions. They must work together - and sometimes against each other - to find out of the nature of those beings, what they want, and why they seem to think that their ‘mission’ is of vital importance for the future of humanity.

Key features:

  • A classic point-and-click adventure experience: we’re very proud to feature our own distinct style, but we are also definitely influenced by games like Monkey Island or Beneath a Steel Sky and try to please both veteran afficionados of the genre and newcomers alike with a traditional pixel-art appearance and a streamlined, modern approach to game design

  • Movement everywhere: you won’t feel like you’re walking through a still life painting; Born Punk’s world is alive and full of animation, soundscapes and small details to discover

  • Choices and consequences: often, it’s possible to approach dialogues and puzzles from different angles. As a result, interactions and dialogues with other characters, the difficulty to overcome certain obstacles, and the results of many actions will vary greatly depending on what the player chooses to do

  • Full voice-overs: every character in Born Punk and every line is voiced by professional voice actors. Yes, that includes the cat.

  • Bombastic music: the main theme and various other tracks are composed by Jeff Kurtenacker, composer of Wildstar and choral arranger of World of Warcraft. Jeff is joined by a merry band of synthwave musicians to create a genuine and emotional cyberpunk/sci-fi soundtrack with a Nordic twist

  • Let’s be serious, it’s funny: Born Punk is science-fiction with heavy cyberpunk influences; but we’re also boasting a hopeful, often humorous undertone. Point & click adventures without at least a bit of humour are unthinkable to us!

  • A comprehensive universe: there’s a slew of background info to read and experience, all of which becomes available in your PDA as you interact with the game world. Sometimes, in-game lore will also serve as an optional gameplay mechanic.

Female characters are cute. It is recommended to add more horror elements. I hope the game can be designed with good-looking badges and backgrounds.

Mystery Tales: Master of Puppets Collector’s Edition

Mystery Tales: Master of Puppets Collector’s Edition

I spent a little over 3 hours going through the main and bonus content, So, based on how much these sell for on Steam as opposed to Google Play, it’s way over-priced for the amount of content.

This one was also very simple and repetitive with the “puzzles”.

That being said, it was still fun and overall enjoyable to play, but it’s not worth more than a few bucks, IMO, based on other games of this type.

Game is buggy. I got to the point in the doll house to replace the gauges and scene went back to the start when Miranda was sent to the doll house. I then was unable to proceed. Also the game’s rendering went all crazy. Only the hot spots for actions were visible, the rest of each scene was whited out. Anyway getting a refund, this game is trash. Bugs like this shouldn’t happen with proper testing. I ran into similar bugs with other Domini games. So, I’m of the opinion that the Domini developers are incompetent.

Project Boost

Project Boost

First of all, i have been privileged to be a tester for Project Boost.

This game is not your ordinary shooter; hereby it is not for everyone. Project Boost is hard and it requires, at least speaking from my own 6 in-game hours, a learning curve. Although it does possess the basic mechanics of most shooters, it comes pack with gameplay elements which i will refer as uncharacteristic for the genre. Project Boost is frankly both a frustrating but satisfying experience in the end.

I will recommend Project Boost for it delivers for an indie shooter game but i stress once again - it is not for everybody. If you like a difficult game, this game will certainly please you!

Project Boost

Project Boost is a brand spanking new fast-paced, third-person shooter. Right off the bat, the game starts on a chaotic rampage without much context.

As I started to progress the game slowly limped together the whole plotline. The way it’s done and presented could’ve been improved. The game had already lost me in its chaotic, fast-paced shooter scenario before I figured out the plotline.

## Halloween Stories: Horror Movie Collector's Edition

I was going to click No however, this would be a good game for a preteen or teen. It is not scary and a bit juvenile.

This is the first Halloween Stories game that I have played and is overwhelmingly the absolute best ever hidden object game that I have ever played. It is the complete deal. Story line keeps you interested in the game play and the bonus chapter picks up where the main game leaves off. The interaction with characters is one that I myself have never encountered. I extremely enjoyed the added "liveliness" of some of the animations, (streets apart from anything I have seen) congrats to the entire team that are responsible for them :-) I have no problem at all recommending this game to anyone, in fact I would encourage you to buy this game. My many thanks to the entire team for an absolutely fantastic, unforgettable and pleasurable game. Thanx

## Lucid Cycle

As of finishing this game, I have played all of Tonguc Bodur's games. I love these games and this one just may be my favorite. There is just the right amount of relaxation, using your noodle, and strategy in this one. I can't wait for the next game. Would love to be a beta tester for future games.

I've been a fan of Tonguç Bodur now for quite a while. I find his slow-paced games relaxing and visually stimulating. His creations are often of an introspective nature, exploring life and the inner self. He is the meditating person's game developer.

"Lucid Cycle" is described as a series of short dream-like experiences. Exploration with minor puzzle elements. It takes around two hours to play through the game, which saves after every dream scene. Apart from a cat, you share your small apartment with an AI that comments on your dream sessions every morning after you wake up.
