Trials of Argolis

I’ve done a lot of testing for this game and nearly every time was a joy (bridge boy frustrates me sometimes!! ;-;). Very fluid and smooth first-person combat with challenging bosses and fast paced action. The handpainted artwork lends a really neat aesthetic and overall it looks gorgeous. A great dynamic in play styles despite the rather simple controls and each boss has a particular gimmick to it. Lots of content and deffo worth a buy! ;_; eek

Fruit Ninja VR

I have never gotten into this franchise but my wife asked if this was available for Vr a few weeks ago. I just saw it pop up on the Vive Subreddit (great community there btw) and purchased it to suprise her. So far…she hasn’t had a turn. Obviously….I had to test it first! It was much more fun playing than I ever thought it would have been. Not sure if it has to do with VR but I had a blast. Then I discovered the Arcade mode…thats even better!! I hear that the devs are going to put additional features, some new to the franchise for VR and that might add some additional value for the veterns. It runs great as well (using gtx 970). Be carefull though, I just broke my first wrist strap on my ceiling fan. Edited because I before E except after C…thanks phxrocker

Sword Mans

Sword Mans

My hope was that this game could fill the hole in my heart left by Gang Beasts and it’s successively worsening updates, and I was not dissapointed. Sword Mans is a silly and lightearted fighting game in which you play a sword whose wielder drags like a ragdoll behind you. This leads to an unusual combat in which you are trying to swipe at your opponents whilst protecting the wielder that limply follows you. My girlfiiend and I laughed uproariously on more than a few occassions.

Four player multiplayer is where this game really shines. The controller support is also nice. A surprisingly diverse weapon selection also introduces an interesting element of strategy. The large selection of stages helps to keep multiplayer fresh as well. I liked the inclusion of both cooperative and competetive game modes, as well as the ability to include bots in versus mode to keep things hectic, The physics are hilarious and the stages are fun to smash apart and varied. You can tell that an indie dev put a lot of love into this game, and the developer has promised periodic content updates which is exciting. All things considered I enjoyed this purchase, and feel as if I got exactly what I wanted. An easy to pick up local multiplayer game that’s funny and great with friends.

KnightOut

KnightOut

Best early access game to invite others over to play after COVID 19 pandemic!

I haven’t been able to find a game online; however, Discord server is active and devs can help find players to play via steam. You can also PM if you’d like to play.

If you have kids and know what you are doing, you can go 2 v 1… 3 v 1 is a bit tricky. Devs are active on their discord and have stated to change respawn times later.

Bugs at the moment are not that bad, but yes, it’s early access.

In any case, it’s great for a KnightOut with friends or your kids locally. Just wear masks, wash your hands and game controllers.

The game has friendly fire in co-op. Which makes the experience a joke. The coins disappear extremely fast and seem to determine how many stars you get. There’s also gated progression which requires a set number of stars per map to progress. Not a very casuals experience for some local co-op.

There’s also the problem when the game zooms out the entire screen is one big BLUR.

Dashwalk Dueling

Dashwalk Dueling

Dance your sword across the arena while trying to keep your feet on the ground in this fast-paced platform fighter. Its minimal mechanics and visuals are the foundation for complex ground movement, creative combo routes, and fast-flowing combat! Choose from eight supers and reversals to dismantle the competition.

Intricate Combos

Dashwalk Dueling’s combo system lends itself well to 50/50’s and frame traps, although some simple combos still existed throughout, as you carry your opponent across the stage with jab strings. Players will darken when in hitstun to help you to understand combos intuitively, alongside a combo counter that will give you clear feedback on your combos and strings.

Guarding and Parrying

Dashwalk Dueling has a deep guarding and parrying system. Players can hold a guard against their opponent, and at any time during that guard they can dash away, release the guard to parry, or guard poke, to help them to react to an opponent’s option and parry. Guarding on its own does nothing but open up these options, if you are hit while guarding, it is the same as being hit while not guarding.

Grounded Movement

Dashwalk Dueling’s combat is built around grounded movement. When you’re hit offstage or run offstage, you can jump back, otherwise, no jumping is allowed. This encourages spacing heavy grounded play with any airtime being a struggle for your life.

Powerful Training Mode

Dashwalk Dueling’s training mode is built with labbing and competitive play in mind. Features like frame advantage, move frame data, hitbox displays, per frame simulation, an adaptive combo counter, and more are included and togglable.

Infinite Dungeon Crawler

This “review” summarises my early impressions after having played this game for about 6 or 7 hours. I may update it when I learn something worth adding or changing.

Edit: Having played more than 30 hours, I find the game more interesting than before. I’ve updated my review, but decided to put the update in a forum post.

My original review:

In a nutshell: I recommend this game wholeheartedly to all players who are willing to adjust to somewhat unusual game mechanics and to cope with sometimes lengthy turn-based fights. And I recommend to try the free-to-play version first. Go through a few fights, and then make up your mind. Be prepared for some initial frustration, because fights can be lengthy, with both you and your opponent missing most of the time. You may decide that this is too boring and not worth your time. But you may also take it as a motivation to find out why there are so many misses and what you can do to hit more often - which is not so difficult once you understand the game mechanics and rules better. You can experiment (the fighting log tells you exactly what is going on), or you can read the great guide which you can access via the Steam Guides section of the game. There is also an interactive tutorial, which focusses mainly on the fighting system, but may be a bit too abstract to be used for your very first fight(s). It may be better to start playing without the tutorial, and to play it after your first, say, two or three fights, or in conjunction with reading the guide.

Before I start, there is no way I can describe the way this game has changed my life. Words can not do it justice. Before I was a husk in the horrible creation that is society. I had no friends, family, or ounce of happiness. But now, instead of a husk of a guy, im a hunk of a man. This game grew hair on my chest, and made me 5 inches taller. It enlightened my spirit in the darkest days. I owe my life to this game. I will play this every day until when you look at me all you see is a holy blinding light. This is what the game can do.

By the date, I think this is the 1st Steam game for this dev. I think he’s a new coder, which is fine.

This is a simple idle game, with simple art and minimal content. Sort of a learning project/game I guess. And that is also fine. The interface is a little . . . confusing at times, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy enough to navigate. It’s a great little game for chasing Steam achievements at least.

My primary issues with the game are chiefly that it causes the Steam client to crash, which then in turn crashes every other Steam game running at the same time. That’s a major problem, especially if it corrupts other Steam games. It often also deletes the save game when it crashes. Not sure exactly what the issue is but I could only run it for a few hours at a time to minimize the risk of crashing, but it still happened. According to the game engine designers, the dev has coded something wrong, and that is causing the crashes. Additionally, as the game is coded in HTML5, it saves its games to the IndexedDB inside the game’s mini “browser”, which ends up getting corrupted when the game crashes. The dev could have exported the IndexedDb to JSON files for each of the save slots, and that would make sure that the players' games saves and progress is fairly safe, but he didn’t.

Oh boy where to begin, wish I could give stars instead of just “yes” or “no.” Well There are goods and bads to it. But not enough goods to justify $22 (CDN) I’m glad I got it with humble bundle. The game itself is pretty good, there are just a few cons that drag it down to the point that makes it hard to recommend at $22.

Pro’s

-Unique and original story. There is so many tropes and over done stories and copies out there, it’s nice to see something unique for a change. The game doesn’t go too heavily into the story through the playthrough, but if you read all the tablets and lore you figure out easily whats going on.

TL;DR: SKIP TO CONCLUSION!

Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth is an action adventure platformer that gives a good sense of nostalgia to the old school N64 Legend of Zelda.

You play as a young child who is trying to find his father, who visits the spirit realm, and sort of merges with the two other children to try and protect the forest. The world is open, but there are a fair amount of loading screens when going between areas.
