Bolt Riley, A Reggae Adventure

Bolt Riley, A Reggae Adventure

It would be in my best interest to give a glowing review since I want to see this game completed but I need to be honest about the progress made so far. I do realise this game is considered Early Access and I know the budget for this game is pretty small, and you should keep that in mind too (if you end up reading the in-depth review linked below), but ultimately, is it something I would recommend to my friends or the gaming public in its current state? Considering the artwork still needs some touching up, bugs were encountered way too frequently, the UI needs fixing and the first chapter is way too short, probably not. I’m hoping that Adventure Mob will eventually prove me wrong though, as I really want this game to succeed.

Bolt Riley is a well-intentioned but uniformly misguided proof of concept.

Presumably the developers naively underestimated the effort required to achieve the level of quality best suited to their vision. Instead, they opted to release an embarrassingly short and painfully butchered appetizer.

One should be easily inclined to forgive unrefined details in Early Access but no update in over a year severely burdens the game’s credibility.

Magnesium_173

Magnesium_173

Magnesium_173 is a turn-based, movement-based puzzle game with time-related mechanics that are loosely based on quantum physics. The developer was kind enough to give me a free code for the game just for showing interest in it prior to its launch, and I had a good time playing it, but you’re probably more interested in whether I think the game is worth its current base price of 15 USD or not, as that does seem a bit hefty for this type of puzzle game, and after giving it some thought, I would have to say that I think it’s worth just that, and this review will explain how I came to that opinion.

Classic puzzler with a modern aesthetic, lots of little delightful moments within the UI really make the experience.

Update: It’s been a few months, and I feel I should update my review with more detail. This is a phenomenal game, and I didn’t realize how much so until I had a friend over and we were playing through a level together. The logical progression within this game is outstanding and satisfying, so much so that talking it out in real-time with someone is both helpful and enjoyable. Pick this one up!

When I began playing Spin the World, my hopes for having a really great experience were high. Unfortunately, after investing a little time in the game, I can say that I did not enjoy the experience. This title, in its current state, feel a lot to me like an alpha stage game, with some potential, but a ton of extra work to be done.

Firstly, the gameplay is on the forefront of what this title is about. You jump into the game with control of a mystery character, with a mystery purpose but they are holding a gun. Great! As you would, you proceed forward and start shooting things. This is when the game really goes down unfortunately. As I progressed, I kept running into a reoccurring bug where the enemies kept getting stuck in the walls. This problem does not have much effect on the game due to there being no loot, score or any real reason to kill something besides it is in your way. What this does for me, however, is makes any success feel empty due to getting by only because I didn’t have to fight for it. Unsatisfying…

I bought this for 0.89 cent on sale but I still refunded.

There are flash games that were better than this. Not only does the game have no story at all but even the combat is just one hit death to everything while enemies walk back and forth in a straigth line. And jumping is floaty af.

Buggy it is too (of course). Just try walking left out of the room and see yourself fall outside the play area, which is telltale sign of asset flip that was cobbled together in a weekend.

Yeah, I’m sure people will gladly pay 10€ for a game that doesn’t even the pretend of a story.

Train Valley 2

Train Valley 2

I loved Train Valley and although I initially preferred it as I play more of TV2 I realise this game is a bit better. It’s addictive laying tracks and trying to get the correct trains to the correct stations, upgrading them so they carry another carriage and go that bit quicker, and buying more trains so I can shift goods and people more efficiently. It’s easy to stuff up a single track route to have trains crash or go into the wrong station - but that is all part of the fun and puzzle aspect of the game. Striving to get 5 stars on each challenge is also always achievable (in my plays anyway) but might take you a few goes, which means a little bit of replayability for each map.

Create goods via different stations that rely on each other! Good gameplay, supported by a friendly community.

Solve the puzzle!

Every level is a puzzle: several towns require goods in order to finish the level. Those towns produce workers, which are required in most crafting stations. For instance, if the town needs glass, you first send workers to a sand excavation station. There workers are converted into sand over time. The sand then is transported to the glass factory, along with a new supply of workers. Finally the glass is transported to the town. The ratio is always 1:1. So before you start the level you can calculate how many workers need to go where.

Warp Drive

Warp Drive

I just had a go at the game. As much the design/models slightly lacks polish, the colors within the shaders gives off so vibrantly. Gameplay wise is like your average Asphalt game however I feel the drifting needs a slight tweak and the original concept that they’ve brought to the table is the teleportation mechanic. How it works it’s by approaching a glowing orb and pressing the A button (Gamepad) allows the player to teleport to an area where its located or grabbing a crystal (used for boosting pressing X) and pressing A to take the lead of the nearest opponent. All in all, the game is fun and worth a buy.

Warp Drive is an all around good game. It has somewhat simple mechanics and is like a kart racer but I like that the pick ups aren’t random and it lets you actually plan how you’re going to use them. The upgrade system is straightforward and simple, but it’s cool how the different parts are actually shown on your craft. Aside from these things, the game has a pretty unique style, splitscreen options, and a KILLER soundtrack.

Some fortnite skin packs cost more than this game, so there’s really no complaints from me.
