This game is absolutely amazing! While i was playing, i could definitely feel like Xenon put all of his love and personality in it, i usually don’t like RPGs but Xenon managed to make it really fun and dynamic with amazing characters CRITTERZ!!!

  • JINX IS RAD!!!

  • WEAPONIZED FOOMBA!!!

Cons:

  • NEEDS MORE CRITTERZ!!!

Even if the game is still in early access, it’s already amazing! Thank you Xenon for the work you’re putting in this game!

And the third entry in the Space Funeral series sports a lovely Vaporwave palette. OK, not really, but it might as well be. I could leave it right there, and it’d stand just fine as a recommendation or not, but I’ll elaborate. This is one of those RPG Maker games that defies the usual, and flies in the face of all the half-assed creations that make most people wary about buying anything from the engine. It’s still a little rough around the edges right now, but it’s certainly playable, and I can’t wait to see the finished product!

HOLIDAYS

HOLIDAYS

What a fun time, the writing is definitely what shines most. I had many laughs while exploring the town. I also really enjoyed the art style, especially the cut scenes. Playing Holidays brought back memories of my youth, I bet Wallace and I played some of the same games growing up. The turn based battles were never too challenging. Which felt like a good choice, since I was there for the story. Occasionally I would unlock a new spell, but the first few spells felt a little useless. Then late game spells are OP, as they should be in a RPG. I’m looking forward to future installments to the storey or whatever the Devs make next.

Orangeblood

Orangeblood

I would recommend this game. However, I will not do so without SOME talking points.

First - The art is amazing. However, it becomes very jarring when moving around inside of zones the fog of war and tilt shift become VERY hard on the eyes.

I STRONGLY suggest that anyone wanting to play the game mess with the settings at length.

Make sure the bottom three settings are OFF (Tilt Shift, Chromatic Aberration, and CRT) and the color scheme is set to something easy on your eyes like Flat or Cinema. Vivid works as well but will be slightly more straining.

The world is one interconnected hub and unlocks different areas with to the story’s progression, but they all loop back round to each other and fast travel is conveniently placed. Given that the story is kind of a placeholder (name more than maybe ten stories in games that aren’t), I kind of wish it skipped the explanations about why you’re going from one area to the next in favor of an unspoken, Shadow of the Colossus/Legacy of Kain style, web of bosses you can choose to fight in any order you want to.

Vairon’s Wrath

Vairon’s Wrath

old school late 80s JRPG like adventure game. The team with just 2 persons spent 3 years making the game.

at least 20 hours or even longer gameplay for casual playing.

The game is for you, if you want feel that kind of old school adventure game.

content is really rich, npc conversations, main quests, side quests that reward you with travel improvement, and the creative puzzles you need to solve to advance

BGMs are so great.

The gameplay and story will surprise you, the team added new ideas into it.

Here is my full review of it. If you like action RPG’s, this game won’t disappoint. It’s definitely worth the 13 dollar asking price.

The Endless Empty

The Endless Empty

TL;DR: This game is excellent. Please please give it a shot. It really clicked with me. Content Warning for the game for

! violence, sort of gore/unsettling imagery, eyes, teeth, arachnids, death

I think this is one of the most important games I played to me. The surreal and uncanny to slightly disturbing imagery here is perfect at communicating the themes of the unknown, of dying and not having a clue what will happen. I get really existential at times and I worry about death and non-existence a lot. I think this game’s given me the closure to what I’ve felt in the past by validating it by putting it into words. Well, picture form mostly, the abstract nature of what this game tackles is only something that can be materialised in images.

I deliberated a lot about how to write a review for this game that wouldn’t be inadvertently telling others how to experience it, but what I’m able to share at that point becomes very limited, so I will just reflect on what I took away from it and leave the rest up to the prospective player to discover for themselves.

The Endless Empty is a short game, but it is beautiful in its own discordant way. It has a story to tell and it will tell it on its own time. Exactly what that story is can change slightly depending on the choices made by the player, and so it’s able to contextualize itself slightly through said player’s expectations. Even being about the death of a character with a defined history, it strives to connect the player to the questions being posed on a personal level, and it definitely succeeded in doing so for me. The levels and the characters that represent the frames of mind being traveled through express many observations about the world the body has had to live within, and many of these observations may be readily recognizable as the sort most if not everyone has wondered about at some time in their own lives. If nothing else, the way the game manages to put on full-display those perceptions that often come with a sense of isolation and self-uniqueness also serves to highlight just how companionable the struggle being discussed really is, and there’s a special kind of heartbreak that comes along with this realization the closer the player gets to the end.

Cupcake: an Apartment Adventure

Cupcake: an Apartment Adventure

Not for everyone in terms of length and visuals, but I enjoyed some of the heartwarming moments when it comes to dialogue and making friends. The game is 1 to 5 minutes long with about 60 minutes of exploration in total, I ended up replaying it 10 times to find most of the endings. Essentially the goal is to dispose of 6 cupcakes any way you like, you can eat them yourself, give them to friends to improve your relationship, or put them in weird places (and you get some pictures at the end based on your choices). While some endings are pretty easy to get like flushing cupcakes down the toilet, other outcomes can be a lot more cryptic. For example, I run into a few hidden dialogue lines that are not accessible unless you do something specific. It would be nice to have achievements just so I can track all of the secrets. The closest game I can compare it to would be Dear Red that introduced me to this subgenre of choice-based exploration games, it’s a fun way to navigate the story but I find that you need more than just a decent narrative to make it work.

Monster Academy

This game is pretty much a visual novel with RPG combat mixed in. It has good character designs. The girls have likable personalities and the dialogue is funny. I enjoyed the school mystery. Be sure to stock up on potions and dispels whenever you get the chance.

This game was actually quite good and would recommend it.

Played it without using a walkthough and got the first ending with Anna (Vampire) after reaching Episode 7

Plan on playing it again to see what other endings I could get aside from that it reminded me a little of the Rosario + Vampire manga series.
