long ago: a puzzle tale is an excellent ball-rolling/sliding game. technically the former, but since it’s wall-to-wall movement, the latter also applies. you’ll find signs that change the ball’s direction, pressure plates, portals, and various things to activate or deactivate to reveal more things to collect. no timing elements, it’s completely turn-based.

A nice and relaxing casual puzzle game, with beautiful art and music, based on the classic roll the ball until it stops mechanic. Many elements come into play with each level, creating ingenious and challenging puzzles. The twist on top of the addiction of finishing levels with all 3 stars, is the narrated and voiced story behind the game. With each level you unlock more of it, revealing more of the adventure of our princess.

The metagame is a boom of creativity and knowing on algorithmic thinking. In contrast it is an aesthetic promise above gameplay. The “cutscenes” are more the game than the player’s experience.
Is this an indie game for sure? In fact it is a game made by only two brothers from Palestine (Israel indeed, see below). Despite of this the final game was in partnership with Super Rare Games publisher (based in London) mainly for marketing. In the press kit website content we can get: “The jam version received great feedback, and so Gonen and Ori decided to make it their first commercial project”. I suspected that it was a game jam game, it has many compact features typical of a game jam game. A wonderful puzzle platforming experience.
Toodee & Topdee was basically described to me as playing Super Mario Maker in editor mode, except editor mode is an actual character that has to deal with their own challenges.
You play as Toodee, the platforming character, and Topdee, the top-down block-pushing character, alternating between platforming and block-pushing to navigate the two to an exit portal. Each chapter comes with its own mechanics and trials to overcome, becoming steadily more difficult as the game progresses. This game has the appearance of being good for co-op, but in practice, both characters are not active at the same time, but instead must be swapped between, like in Donkey Kong Country. This suits the game better to a single player experience, though I do think there is still some fun to be had playing with a friend.

A Robot’s Journey
A Robot’s Journey centers around a robot exploring beautiful landscapes; collecting parts, solving puzzles, and overcoming obstacles in this single-player, 3rd-person adventure game.
EXPLORATION
Climb and jump off rocks to access items and discover new areas. Find and activate pressure triggers to open doors or move platforms to continue the adventure and explore the beautiful landscapes.
COLLECT ENERGY
Search and find raw energy rocks. Some are hidden and are not easily found. Collect 3 to charge up canisters that can be used to generate usable energy to open doors, power bridges, and reveal secrets.
PUZZLES
Activate pressure triggers by stepping on them or placing objects to open doors or move platforms. Some triggers need to be powered on first and the solution is not always so clear.
STORY
The journey this robot takes to becoming a parent is an adventurous one. Several fragment parts need to be collected and quite amount of energy will need to be collected in order for this robot to start a family. However, the story doesn’t end there, raising a child is an adventure in itself and has it’s own joys and challenges to enjoy and overcome.
PARENT AND CHILD
The journey continues as this parent teaches and protects it’s child. Enjoy calm moments of play and keep safe as unknown dangers lurk ahead.
