Q - A Neon Platformer

Q - A Neon Platformer

Really fun (and hard) platformer! I’ve now finished 2/3 of the game in ~17 hours (and 4.5k deaths), and every new level is only getting harder, but the rewarding feeling of finally beating a level you were stuck on is insane!

Controls might be a bit difficult at first, but after a few (or many) deaths you’ll get the hang of it.

Every new mechanic is introduced in a nice and easy way, if you follow the “right” level route. You may feel like the game skips over a lot of necessary introductions if you happen to find an alternative route that leads you to another world or a Dark Chapter.

I don’t normally review games before completing them but….this one is definitely worth it!

I played the demo for this game about 9 months before it was released and immediately I was hooked! Been waiting for the release date ever since!

This game is so fun! Everything about it is great! The music is awesome so that when you die over and over again you still don’t get sick of hearing it! (And you will die A LOT) The platforming feels very fresh and unique! The Neon-ness looks great!

Tough as nails (or should I say spikes?) this game is, a lot of precision platforming is required. Can’t wait to see what else this game is waiting to throw at me!

The aesthetics and artstyle is really amazing! The controls are smooth and responsive so you’ll have no issues with that. The soundtrack is spot on and fits very well.

Overall a cute and fun game if you’re looking something similar to Super Monkey Ball. There is room for polishing this game for sure but you’ll have no issues playing this game so give it a try!

A Great addition to the marble genre! it has good platforming, minigames unlocked from secrets found in levels, and customizatiion of the “marble”, in this case a squirrel in a glass ball. You can play it fast or slow too, which i enjoy in platformers. Squirreltastic!

Everything about this game makes it the perfect remake except for a few things such as the physics, not great UI, and some lackluster production value here and there. Those are, however, only slight negatives in the grand view of things as playing this game is a blast and there’s enough fun and exciting content here to last many hours.

I did enjoy this game for the five levels I played but then a problem cropped up that when I had beaten the first boss the game wouldn’t move me on to the next level. I tried everything even going back to the menu page but when I did that I found I had to play the fifth level again and still didn’t get moved on after the first boss. To be fair I requested and received a refund but was disappointed because I like this kind of game very much. I note from other reviews that no one else has said anything about this so I dodn’t know why it happened to me. Based on my love of this kind of game though, I still recommend it.

Mira’s Brush

Mira’s Brush

Cute, colorful, and full of lighthearted humor. I had a little trouble getting a feel for the color-swapping mechanics, but other than that, I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far. Looking forward to seeing how the game develops as it gets close to full release.

Mira’s Brush is a colorful take on the side-scrolling pixel-art platforming genre, a genre that defined early video games and has persisted through the years. The basic idea is that all the color has been stolen from Chromaland which is now greyscale and it is up to Mira and her brush to restore color. You can steal colors and paint and do a host of different shapes and colors to defeat or blend enemies. Sadly it is marred by clunky gameplay and tutorial and clunky menus.

The platforming aspect of the game is pretty icy and takes some frustrating moments getting used to. I found it difficult to jump high enough sometimes and it really takes more technique to get on to stuff but it is manageable, but it should be like 10% higher. The tutorial floating text is terribly placed and floats off screen and is difficult to see. Sometimes matching enemies to the background does not work.

NRG

NRG

NRG is an indie platform PVP action game, done a bit different.

Energy management is key, and keeping a constant eye on incoming bullets, hang of walls, and parkour about.

It’s ideally played with controller, and the movements feel pretty smooth.

Plenty of pewpews, bright colors, and free is always nice!

This game is quick to pick up. Great for casual play. The devs are enjoyable people. They are definitely not shy people. They are full of life and ambitions for this game. This game brings a new perspective to 3D platforming. I hope this game lifts off.

The soundtrack is alright, having it on loop in my ear for 5 hours. I do wish there were more sfx to the finishers. But i can understand why not due to copyright issues and etc.

The graphics are simplistic and adorable. Which are contradictory to their actions. 🤣 With limited maps so far, be prepared to watch the same scenery spin around your computer screen. The UI is rough to the eye, but the dev team does have some ideas on it in the future.

Rog & Roll

Rog & Roll

Rog & Roll is a fast-paced, fluid 2.5D platformer. Control a tiny enemy monster named Rog on a quest to save his fellow minions!

Long ago, enemy monsters were controlled by tyrannical bosses who ordered them to do things like harass humans and kidnap princesses. But the monsters of Rog’s world rejected that system to build a new society - one where spiders, zombies, killer robots, and walking vegetables could all live in peace. When a disgruntled final boss returns to re-enslave his old minions, it’s up to Rog, a plucky low-ranking enemy, to defy all odds and try to free his friends.

  • Simple yet deep gameplay with an emphasis on fun, fluid movement

  • Unique art style blurs the line between 3D and 2D pixel art

  • Race through vibrant levels ranging from futuristic cities to haunted ruins, each with its own aesthetic, music, and gimmicks

  • Battle bosses, mini-bosses, and an endless array of unique, quirky monsters

  • Seek out hidden items in each level to unlock special challenges and other surprises

  • Explore overworld maps complete with towns, item shops, and friendly monsters

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Episode I

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Episode I

When Sonic 4 launched in 2010, it marked the end to a 16 year drought of new 2D console Sonic games. Promising a return to the Blue Blur’s 16 Bit Roots, SEGA, Sonic Team and Dimps had quite the legacy to live up to. Unfortunately, while the game gets the things right, there are enough glaring flaws to prevent this from being a recommendation.

After the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic sets off to explore new territory alone, meaning no Tails or Knuckles, just like Sonic 1 on the Genesis. However, Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik survived his last encounter with Sonic and decides to take some of his previous creations, slightly revise them, and eliminate Sonic once and for all as the first part of his new grandiose plan.

Sonic 4 plays like a low quality and lifeless mobile game.

And that’s because it is! I’m not going to be blaming my numerous problems with Sonic 4 on that fact, I just find it incredibly funny. Plain and simple, Sonic 4 isn’t good. I think the fact that it’s a game I’ve never seen anyone religiously defend speaks volumes about its quality. I’ve seen people defend Boom, Forces, Shadow the Hedgehog, even 06, but the most I can get out of anyone with Sonic 4 is that they liked it. There’s a good reason Sonic 4 is no one’s favorite Sonic game.

my full play through here once it uploads (first youtuber to beat it?): https://youtu.be/KvQM9L30mf8

Fun game and absolutely nothing rage inducing about it. The game is short but it can take forever. I liked the little easter egg you could find as well. IF you beat the game it does feel rewarding and you can definitely tell your improving as you play. The music is super nice and relaxing as well plus the pill is doing his best to save the man with the most F**ED up teeth in the world.
