It took me awhile to figure out that there were upgrades, but after I did, LOVED IT!

nothing especially bad about this game, but it almost seems to pride itself on being lackluster. It’s competently made and fairly polished, but I can’t help but feel like there was a great game just beneath the surface that didn’t come to fruition.

it’s not particularly fun, but it wasn’t annoying enough for me to stop playing. music is good, sprites are charming but poorly colored. level design is pretty standard fare, systems (upgrades, weapons) are intriguing but don’t make up for the repetitive and uninteresting enemy behaviors.

SokoMatch: Lizard Saga

SokoMatch: Lizard Saga

You have to clear 40 levels by playing away all colored blocks by pushing them together in a line or hook.

Moves can be undone. There is no penalty, no number of moves target.

The levels are not too easy, which is nice. I finished them a first time in 2 hours.

The music is not annoying, volume and effects can be adjusted as well as the resolution and screen mode.

Too bad the movement is a little bit sluggish. I prefer being able to play fast.

Apart from the fact I wished there were more levels, it’s the only minor issue I had.

Mira’s Brush

Mira’s Brush

Cute, colorful, and full of lighthearted humor. I had a little trouble getting a feel for the color-swapping mechanics, but other than that, I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far. Looking forward to seeing how the game develops as it gets close to full release.

Mira’s Brush is a colorful take on the side-scrolling pixel-art platforming genre, a genre that defined early video games and has persisted through the years. The basic idea is that all the color has been stolen from Chromaland which is now greyscale and it is up to Mira and her brush to restore color. You can steal colors and paint and do a host of different shapes and colors to defeat or blend enemies. Sadly it is marred by clunky gameplay and tutorial and clunky menus.

The platforming aspect of the game is pretty icy and takes some frustrating moments getting used to. I found it difficult to jump high enough sometimes and it really takes more technique to get on to stuff but it is manageable, but it should be like 10% higher. The tutorial floating text is terribly placed and floats off screen and is difficult to see. Sometimes matching enemies to the background does not work.

Poi

Poi

I’ve been playing this game since the very, very early versions of the Early Access release, before cameras and costumes were a thing, but I’ve taken a long, long time to write a review, mostly because I’m having a hard time to fully express my feelings about this game. There are way too many things to talk about, which means this is going to be a rather lengthy review, and it might also be all over the place due to the amount of stuff that comes to mind, but let’s dive right in.

I’ve spent most of my teenage years and all of my early adulthood wishing for the “perfect” 3D platformer, one that combined most of the things I like in a single, awesome package. I dreamed of a game with a rich, vast world to explore. It had to have a lot of secrets and tricks to discover, but it also had to have well designed platforming and action to boot, and the atmosphere had to evoke feelings of childlike wonderment and adventurous endeavors in boththe soundtrack, the visuals and the story. The characters had to be adorable and stylish, and the gameplay had to be smooth and thrilling.

Poi is a good Mario clone. End of story now get out of the review section and buy the game if you want to kill a good 32 hours collecting things.

okay that’s not entirely true so read this instead

PLOT

You and your sister run away from the city in order to find Adventure. On your adventure to find adventure you meet up with Mario in his mid 80’s who asks you to get his sonic ring with ribbons attached to it down from a tall stump due to him being a crotchety old man who can’t do it himself. So you jump to the top of the stump, grab his ring and when you bring it back to him he tells you that the ring is called an “Explorers Medallion” and they are foudn all over the world. So he asks you and your sister if you want to get on his magic flying whale blimp to find him and since choice matters as much as it did in TellTale’s Walking Dead Season 1 in this game, you say yes and off the three of you go to go get the Medallions and save the world or something

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX

In 1991, my father came home with a box. Then I (6) have no idea what a game console is. I have some Tomy Handheld toys and I play with them all day. Caveman speeder space vs.

We installed it with my father and connected it to the TV. My father did not buy a game, of course, there is one game in the console. Yes, as you guessed, that game is Alex Kidd’s miracle world.

My mind was blown at the beginning of the game. I said what is this game?

It didn’t take long for me to get used to it, and I made my way through my mother’s cries of “it’s enough, sleep now”. I came to the first boss, of course, at that time I did not know that his name was boss. I call it punch man paper head or something.

I haven’t read the other reviews for this game, I received it as a gift from one of my brothers so I just jumped straight into it. The Master System is my favourite console, I still buy games for it to this day, so I am very familiar with the original. While fundamentally flawed, it is still one of the best retro platformers of it’s era.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a remastered version of the game, complete with new a handful of new levels, brand new graphics and a number of changes to bring it into the modern age. The new levels are a welcome addition, very fitting into the rest of the game and adds a nice breath of fresh air to those already completely familiar with the original. I’m not personally sold on the new graphics, I think they look nice, but I will take the legacy/original look any day.

RollerCoaster Tycoon®: Deluxe

RollerCoaster Tycoon®: Deluxe

RCT Deluxe is one of those rare old gems that, no matter how much people try, has yet to have a spiritual successor fully recapture its essence or innovate in a meaningful way, and the reason for that is in the game’s fundamentally brilliant design: it’s a concise, well-balanced blend of extreme customization and structural rigidity, two seemingly-conflicting ideals that are perfectly intertwined. Coaster design, park layouts, scenery, and other aspects offer near-infinite variety, but the isometric view and deceptively simple and intuitive grid system offers a very acute precision to coaster refinement that allows a player to master the art of designing and redesigning coasters.

Real player with 377.0 hrs in game

Where to begin? RollerCoaster Tycoon is arguably the best tycoon game of all time. The game’s development was mostly credited to only one man (Chris Sawyer), and was released in 1999. There were four games that defined my childhood. The Sims, Age of Empires II, Dungeon Keeper 2, and this.

RollerCoaster Tycoon truly gives you the power to make exactly the kind of amusement park you want to build. Even in the scenarios, it largely feels like a free building game; the game does not ask you to do anything you don’t want to do. For example, instead of asking you to build a park based on nothing but rollercoasters like some games might have implemented, Rollercoaster Tycoon simply plops you down on a plot of land and basically says, “Get this many guests and have a good park rating in three years. Have fun and buh-bye!” This game should be truly applauded for being a tycoon game that is not only great fun, but never turns into a chore by forcing you into situations where you feel you’re only doing something to beat a level. It gives you an end goal, and it’s up to you, the player, to decide exactly how you’ll get there.

JUMANJI: The Curse Returns

JUMANJI: The Curse Returns

Not what I expected being honest, I was envisioning more interactivity such as those in mario party games, it’s not a bad game but it does feel lacking. After playing for around 11 hours roughly I can say I have adapted to the game-play of dragging the corresponding item to either another character or the enemy at hand, it can be somewhat challenging, especially trying to get the save every location achievement which I had to enlist the help of a friend as the Ai was not working out, this is as far as core game-play goes however.
