Rise to Ruins

Rise to Ruins

Well I’ve just about hit 450 hours, and so far I have to say I’m enjoying this. Overall its a decent little balance of Tower Defense, City Builder, and Survival Sim. Don’t be fooled by the basic bitpixel appearance, This is a relatively intuitive game with a lot of sprites, particle effects , and pathfinding(literally). The Dev has been pretty active on the forums and in discussion and seems genuinely invested in the success of his game, and in this day and age that alone speaks volumes.

bought the game at a discount of 90%, not a bad game, there is not enough multiplayer, but one is not bad either. it is clear that the developer has not abandoned this brainchild and continues to release updates.

My 5yo absolutely loves this game. It’s just simple enough to where he’s learned the WASD and mouse movements enough to play it by himself. Really appreciate developers who put stuff out that little ones can play.

the game is good & i love it but its pretty buggy right now but alot of fixes have happen in 1 week with only 1 developer doing it so he deserves a lot of credit & support so join his discord by going to the discussion thing & most of you probably dont know where thats located so all i will say is look carefully & you might just see it by clicking on the game but not play it yet. the developer he needs to make changes like making the visitors spawn more often because im sick of being stuck with a low amount of villagers & i hope the max amount of villager is high enough to my likeing & that zombies & bandits go though some changes like spawning more often & being a bit harder after a while & there need to be more food in game & better stuff to refill energy faster & better & much more

Grim Nights 2 expands upon the original title with new occupations, resources, art and music. The focus has now shifted towards colony management. After picking your preferred location and biome (currently only 2 available) in a randomized world, you assemble four members to start your new settlement. Their perks and initial stats, which are determined by culture and background, will be instrumental in time and resource management - so pick wisely. You can later hone your settlers' skills, change their primary and secondary occupation and assign them items. They will require rest and food individually, so make sure you build them safe beds and grow and prepare enough grub.

I would really love to give this game a good review, but I simply can’t. It is broken, unfinished, and not even completely translated into English.

It is a nice, stylish looking tower defense game, but there is much that either is unexplained, doesn’t seem to work, or both.

For example every gun has options beneath it, that might mean damage, range, health, rate of fire and crit chance, but clicking on them doesn’t seem to do anything. All of those are stats given for each gun, but nothing changes when you click them, even after they seem to have leveled up fifty times.

The game has been translated over from Chinese, there are typos in some places (e.g. after base destruction). You can also see direct Mandarin in some text areas e.g a boss has appeared.

I also have a bug where if i zoom out too much the screen starts to shake i believe only on smaller maps. (May be due to ultrawide monitor 3860x1600)

Otherwise, the game is fun! Reminds me of Yorg.IO.

Great price at less than 10AUD, looking forward to updates.

Kingdom: New Lands

Kingdom: New Lands

An otherwise simple and fun little survival game ruined by frustrating mechanics.

Kingdom: New Lands is a simple survival sort of game. From what the tutorial, in the form of the previous ghostly monarch, tells you in small words, you have to “Build, Expand, Defend” It’s fun at first, you have a couple citizens, you buy tools to make them builders or hunters, and you build, expand, and defend, and than you might just have doomed yourself already.

First off, everything in this game is done by the power of money, you use coin to do everything, and anything. If you don’t have any coin, you can’t do a single thing but wait. Through the final words, build, expand, and defend, your first run may have you do just that, build your walls, expand them, than defend at night. First wave comes, it’s easy and you survive. All seems well unless you’ve fallen into a major mechanic the game hasen’t told you. You realize your hunters arn’t making any coin, which is because you may of over-expanded and now those little rabbit spawn points are behind your walls, which makes them despawn, therefor killing your economy. Thankfully there’s some treasure chest around the map to give you more coin to do things, so if you thought to explore and find them, you can play a little longer.

Kingdom: New Lands is the sequel to Kingdom: Classic and is bigger in scope in every way. Much of what I said for Kingdom: Classic holds true for Kingdom: New Lands as well, but there are quite a few changes that need to be addressed.

First of all there’s multiple stages this time around. The victory condition in this game typically involves rebuilding the ship (around 50-120 gold) to sail to the next island (up until Skull Island). You may ferry over a handful of troops and builders to the next island, so carry what you can, because you’ll need it.

I feel like it is important to point that this game this is made by solo dev, who has been great at interacting with everyone in discord and is willing to listen. Now those of us that have dipped into the early access games will know that this is something to cherish lol.

Also the Gameplay well let me go into more detail about that, but it is important to remember that it is early access so may change after i write this review but what i have found so far is:

Tower defence - The towers have this kinda Age of Empires feel to them this brings back that old nostalgia i love that! There also is an Arachnophobia mode this is something i recommend you play i wont tell you why, just trust me it is worth it! The enemy ramp up nicely giving a good amount of failure and felt to me like fun Gameplay

This game is excellent for civ building and tower defense gamers. I am a seasoned (72 years old) player of both. The combo of both makes the game intriguing and challenging. It has depth without drudgery. Folks who do not play either of these genres may like this one just for that reason. To me there is a third aspect included - research. Which path should you choose first. There is no formula - one choice may be the best this go round but not in the same sequence the next time. And there will be a next time as you progress from map to map. Deciding how to allocate workers is another juggling complexity. The Dev’s UI design is a thing of beauty. Easy to use, informative info tips and an effective warning/informing system. Whatever your gaming proclivity I encourage you to give this one a try. It is just that unique.

Unfortunately even for the price of £2 its still pretty terrible, i went into the game thinking wish it had more than 5 missions, was quickly replaced by not been able to wait til i finished it, literally, left during the 4th mission, i could be so much better but was blatantly abandonded early on during alpha

Welcome My Lord!

When we think about the Middle Ages, then most often it seems to us that this is the time of romance of knightly tournaments, beautiful ladies of our hearts and a cheerful life with a mug of ale!

But in fact, these are harsh times, when people were sick more often than they ate and died before they reached a better future!

But it is in this game that you can become a Lord and feel all the power and strength of your hand. With this power, you can create a better future for your citizens here and now!

Stronghold 1 is love, Stronghold 1 is life.

I love this game, from the age of ten all the way to now, I have loved every single second of it.

The campaign is challenging and fun whilst keeping you thinking of new ways to take over that pesky Pigs' castle (Still haven’t been able to get past that mission). I’ve played a few multiplayer games and it is quite polished. There is no lag, and if there is, it is either connection lag (99% of the time) or your computer is a potato (1% of the time).

To this day, I say to myself, “These graphics are perfect for this game”. I have absolutely no problem with these 2001 graphics, plus the HD remake makes it even better by adding bigger resolutions.

Infectra

Infectra

This is a good game, but it has potential to become an even greater game.

Here are some of the Pros and Cons when you buy this game

Pros

  • Fun and Challenging Levels

  • Strategy is needed to complete the levels

  • Good Cutscenes

  • Good Graphics

Cons

  • Maximum of four buildings can be built at any one time

  • Sometimes it requires more luck than strategy to complete the levels because of the building queue system.

  • The Ion Cannon is unusable in some of the levels because by the time you get to use it, nearly all the infected have destroyed either the control gates or barriers and powerplants.

Great quality, smooth visuals and challenging missions - all wrapped in a cool storyline.

Instant recommendation, just a must have.
