Sphere - Flying Cities

Sphere - Flying Cities

Ok, so let me preface this review by saying that I am only giving it a thumbs up because I want the game to succeed, and it looks like the devs are listening to feedback. For example, there was a patch on day 2 to address a complaint that most people had (not a bug fix, but a mechanic change). There is a foundation for what could be a really fun game, and a different take on the genre; at least I have yet to play anything exactly like it. As others have said, it does give off Frostpunk vibes, and I think it feels a little like Surviving Mars as well; both of which are games I really enjoy.

Updated 16/10

Ive left my original somewhat negative review below, but after a significant developer update today, thought id jump back in and my what a difference a few days makes. Almost all the original issues have been resolved making this a good fun solid game. Wonderful to see that a large amount of work appears to have gone into resolving the initial round of issues. I cant find any major issues at this point now, and have changed my review to recommend and now believe you can play and have fun for a considerable time. Minor issues to tweak dont affect much and Road map forward looks interesting indeed. Hats off to the developers on this one.

How did I not review this game? Basically… for me… its a low tech city builder. Well, city is the wrong word. You have limited space, limited income, so you better plan accordingly. While the game isn’t severely complex it does take serious though into making the best decisions you can.

The game is worth the price and is best enjoyed with the tv or youtube going on in the background. I chose seinfeld.

Graphics: 7/10 (Good) | Gameplay: 7/10 (Good) | Music: 7/10 (Good)

Total: 7/10 (Good)

Its worth every cent of its price.

Details

Inclement is a very addicting little farm management game with its very special style. Its graphics and especially its font take getting used to and the controls and menues are a bit fiddly, but after a few minutes of gameplay it is quiet fun. Its a great game to play while doing something else – not requiring your full attention. For the most part you are waiting for resources to be gathered in order to upgrade your farm so you can gather more resources. Still its a lot of fun to see your farm grow and to progress through the different aspects of the game.

Rise to Ruins

Well I’ve just about hit 450 hours, and so far I have to say I’m enjoying this. Overall its a decent little balance of Tower Defense, City Builder, and Survival Sim. Don’t be fooled by the basic bitpixel appearance, This is a relatively intuitive game with a lot of sprites, particle effects , and pathfinding(literally). The Dev has been pretty active on the forums and in discussion and seems genuinely invested in the success of his game, and in this day and age that alone speaks volumes.

Planet’s Edge

Planet’s Edge

When the alien craft entered Earth’s solar system, the human race was alive with excitement. However, when it was accidentally fired upon, the consequences were dire. In a burst of electromagnetic energy, the entire planet Earth disappeared, leaving its gravity well and the moon behind.

In this open world, sci-fi role-playing game, you are part of the Moon base team on a desperate mission to bring Earth back. You must assemble and equip your crew, customize your ship and set out in search of unique parts to create the Centauri Drive, a device your team hopes will reverse the electromagnetic phenomenon that swallowed Earth.

Travel between dozens of stars, harvest resources to repair and upgrade your equipment, meet and negotiate with friendly (and hostile) aliens, and do whatever it takes to stay alive and bring Earth back.

Planet’s Edge features:

  • An open-ended story driven by the player

  • Dynamic, real-time spaceship combat

  • Mining, trading and puzzle solving

  • Turn-based ground combat

  • Customize and upgrade your ship for any situation

  • Select your crew (or clone a new one) and equip them for success

Very fun village builder, easy to learn, on my second run I got to the end goal (Monument). Not much random so not a lot of replay value at present. Highly recommended but don’t expect it to keep your interest past one solid day at the present state. I really look forward to new developments in this game! Some specifics:

1. Nice easy to learn mechanics

2. Tutorial needs to teach balancing, in particular (a) how do you tell when to add workers at a building, and (b) how do you know when to build more houses, and © show how to change the number of builders & carriers

Worth the $8, a good game to mindlessly play while listening to music or a podcast. I recommend turning on background play so i can click away and do other stuff while the little guys idle away. I’d like to see a better graphics option and more content as it is updated but you get exactly the kind of game you expect. It’s quaint and relaxing. I’m satisfied.

You can tell this was a game created to be enjoyed by gamers. A lot of love here.

This is a cute and fun little game, worth buying to support independent game producers, but . . . A wee bit more of a tutorial would be helpful. There are whole upper floors of my castle filled with people that I have absolutely no clue what they do apart from take my hard earned gold. D__n it I smashed a lot of pots and picked the locks of dozens of treasure chests that some benevolent person randomly leaves out on the lawn to get that gold. Not to mention the kindly watersprite that lives in the well who also donates generously to the cause. For their sake, if not for mine, kindly tell me what the devil these random strangers are doing in my castle!

A Planet of Mine

A Planet of Mine

A cute time killer that its easy to get lost on for hours at a time. The random planet load outs and landing positions can make some planets practically impossible to win which can take a while to spot. Re-starting is fairly easy though.

Very enjoyable little game~

Takes a bit of learning but it’s very fun~ you can find some good info and tips with a quick google search that might help you get started.

I used to have it on mobile but I find it much more enjoyable on PC and it runs very well.

Lots of races (I believe 16) and different ways to play. Discovers and exploration. Planets are very unique and not all the same.

You can also destroy a rivals planet completely or be friendly and trade with them.

The gist is you start on a single planet and harvest resources and build different constructs. After a while you ascend (which you can do several times) and more technologies become available. Soon you will be colonizing multiple planets.

Underworld Idle

Underworld Idle

The long-term progression in this game is fucked. Spending days on a run will give you absolutely pitiful rewards and I swear my only options are spending months slowly progressing and purchasing pitiful rewards that won’t help at all, or I would need to play for months without triggering a reset before I would even have a hope of entering the second faction’s prestige room to see what the upgrades there are like.

Let me elaborate a bit: In a few days, I can get between 150 and 200 ashes before things start getting really slow. To get one more ash, I need to multiply my money amount by ten. In order to get a single bonus at this point in the game, I need anywhere from 500-1000 prestige points (barely better than a 1:1 exchange rate with ashes, but saved between resets), and the bonuses I can purchase with those points tend to have effects on the level of “multiply your production or divide ash costs by a factor of 10-100” meaning I get ONE OR TWO additional ashes for EVERY run of the same length. For those to break even, I would need to do hundreds of runs, all of which take multiple days to complete. If I don’t want to rely on this ridiculous system, I could try to get a different faction’s currency up to a certain point, but every subsequent faction has like a third as many producers available, and the exponential nature of the game means it could take weeks to progress a single tier in their factions. I have literally no idea just how long I would have to wait before I could get to a level where I could even find out what rewards are available for purchase to see if the rewards are worth it in the first place.

TLDR: This is a clicker not an idle game, if this game was named “Underworld Clicker” I would give it a thumbs up, but since it is named “Underworld Idle” and it is not an idle game I can’t recommend this game. If you want a very active clicker game then this is for you, if you are looking for an idle game then look elsewhere.

Long version:

I have played this game for a long time now, I wanted to unlock every feature without any forms of cheats and I feel I did so now. At least every feature that is available at the time of this review.
