Here are some of the Pros and Cons when you buy this game

Pros

  • Fun and Challenging Levels

  • Strategy is needed to complete the levels

  • Good Cutscenes

  • Good Graphics

Cons

  • Maximum of four buildings can be built at any one time

  • Sometimes it requires more luck than strategy to complete the levels because of the building queue system.

  • The Ion Cannon is unusable in some of the levels because by the time you get to use it, nearly all the infected have destroyed either the control gates or barriers and powerplants.

Good things:

This game was released in 2014 but only in 2020 it was added to Steam but I’m happy that it is here now. The game has good story and dialogue and some funny moments. There are 3 maps in total and a total of 41 levels but level 1 and 2 and 41 does not have an alternate or hero versions so in total you have 117 levels to play. After you finish a level it unlock an alternate level and after you finish a map the game unlock more challenging hero levels. It is challenging to get gold ratings on them all.

Citizens

Citizens

Citizens is a turn-based hybrid of a city builder and strategic puzzler where you create beautiful cities, manage resources, plan long term investments, trade with foreign civilisations and look after your subjects. Explore beautiful islands, deal with difficult problems, and think about your next move very carefully, for it could be your undoing!

Planning your expansion is extremely important. Play through a challenging campaign which puts you into a large variety of scenarios, focusing on economy, trade, and warfare. If you prefer a more sandbox experience, try Challenge and Free build modes, where you are given more freedom to explore and experiment.

If you feel you don’t need to know anything else, just try the demo! Six challenging islands are all yours to conquer. Be weary though, for you’re not alone in this world; there are others who already inhabit it… and they won’t let you take their land without a fight.

Our demo offers you a taste of what Citizens is like. It presents you with early-game mechanics and showcases the basics of the grid-based combat system, which is greatly expanded upon in the full release.

Your feedback is super important to us. Join our discord, pop us an e-mail or even write a message on the community board; let us know what you think, what you like and what you don’t like, so that we can make the game even better. The Demo will be continuously supported along with the main release.

As an architect of your settlement, you need to carefully exploit the resources around the area. With a limited number of turns to achieve your goal, every move counts. Explore over 50 different buildings spread over several production chains and extract or process over 30 different resources, including but not limited to Timber, Pottery, Cheese, Wine and various forms of Weaponry. Collect tax from your Citizens as they pay for luxury goods, provide your people with jobs and build a glorious civilisation. Along your journey you will meet other civilisations with whom you can trade, or wage war.

Citizens offers:

  • New approach to city-building games

  • Campaign with challenging quests

  • A ton of replayability!

  • Combat and Trade

  • Endless fun with random level generation

Meet various civilisations along the way. Sightsee the Aztec pyramids, trade with the people of the Orient, and defend yourself from plunderous Vikings! Focus on trade or combat depending on which path you take in the campaign. Certain civilisations might even have some interesting resources for sale, unobtainable by your own hand!

Citizens offers a grid-based combat system; it’s designed to feel familiar to strategy veterans, and to be easily picked up by newcomers. If battles are not your thing though, that’s fine. Diplomacy is always an option! Well… most of the time.

Be mindful… Other civilisations are not your only enemies. Fire and Plague can be as dangerous as the Sword.

With all this doom and gloom above, just keep in mind this…

If all you want is a peaceful and soothing experience, then try out Free-Build mode! Place buildings without any restrictions on a randomly generated island, or try out economy mode for something more challenging: that’s where anything can happen! You’ll never run out of new lands to explore. Something will always be different.

A short-term sci-fi Colony Building Resource Management puzzle game

It’s a causal game where you build machines on a grid-based 2.5D map, to harvest resources, and refine them into things like food, water or fuel. Which you’ll need to birth colonists or launch rockets. Meanwhile, you’ll have to manage pollution levels or even fight alien infestations, threatening to block off your precious building slots!

Real player with 37.3 hrs in game

A colony management simulation where you are preparing planets for human colonization. Build the necessary structures and gather resource. Then manage the planet and continue to progress, eventually gaining colonist and venturing on. A causal game that takes planning, and has a lot of indie charm.

Sky Tale

Sky Tale

A fun game to pick up and enjoy some nice hours in sandbox mode or try to get the highest points possible. Quite simple but still enjoyable overall.

The achievements are fun and challenging, but the windmill/wheat field one seems to be broken/wrong, as with all 8 wheats placed directly next to water tiles seems to never trigger a progress on the achievement itself.

Some polishing might be required, so that users can actually know how many resources there are on a tile (X rocks, X trees), how many resources are taken by each building (e.g. by hovering over the tile) and how many points you get at the end turn from certain buildings (houses)

sky tale is an islanders -like, so I’ll be making a lot of comparisons to it (you might want to check the link for my review). this one’s on a grid with a bit more to it than plonking down random buildings where they give you the most points. sadly, neither lets you re-visit previous islands without copying files over, and this only keeps the one currently in progress, not all your previous attempts like islanders. I was hoping they wouldn’t copy this aspect as well…

Time’s Up in Tiny Town

Time’s Up in Tiny Town

Time’s Up in Tiny Town is a fast-paced simulation game, in which you will build a town for a pocket-sized world.

As mayor and founder of Tiny Town, construct buildings, collect food and house as many townsfolk as possible. You will score points on how large your population grows but also on how sustainable your town is at the end of your mandate.

In Tiny Town, the more you build, the more land you acquire. And the faster your population grows, the more time you are afforded.

But be sure to balance-out your production, your population’s needs and your world’s natural resources. Because if your environment collapses, so may your townsfolk know deprivation and famine!

ISLANDERS

ISLANDERS

Islanders Review

This adventure never ends!

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Procedural Generation; the fun never ends!

  2. Two gameplay modes

  3. Indie Gem 5/5

Gameplay & Controls:

The game is played with your keyboard and mouse; the layout and keys are pretty simplistic. This is in no way whatsoever a bad thing! This is simply a minimalistic game that doesn’t require much to offer you hours of joy.

You start the game on one island, choosing between two build packs. Once chosen it is up to you to determine where to place your buildings. Depending on the position that you build, you will receive a score for each placed building. There are several factors that multiply the score; it can either be increased or receive a loss. It comes down to some strategic thinking.

THE ONE-SENTENCE SUMMARY…

Islanders is a simple yet sophisticated city builder that is both incredibly relaxing and delightfully addictive—and a VERY worthy addition to your game library!

[➕] THE POSITIVES

  • The ART STYLE. The game makes the absolute most of its colors and shapes to provide a minimalistic setting where you can build and grow your idyllic island city. Everything is themed to “fit” together—from the sprawling farmlands to the Tetris-like cities and manufacturing areas—and ultimately results in an island-scape that feels like your own, personal creation!

Good things:

It has a few funny moments and it is a good game mostly for kids. It is more a fairy tale than it is time management game and the normal mode for this game even deletes any time requirements to finish levels so it is good for kids but if you are an adult and want any challenge you will want to play it on heroic mode.

Bad things:

The game was released in 2013 but only now in 2020 it was added to Steam and it shows that this game is old. If you want to play it in 1920x1080 it ads black stripes on left and right side. Some things in the dialogue does not make sense like when main heroine says someone attacked them but they did that because they were hungry but no one attacked us… and some other things. Also while a few dialogues are funny most of the time the cat is just annoying and the jokes about food gets old fast. Also the heroic mode that should be at least a bit challenging is more like easy or normal mode in other time management games. Also many times I wanted to click something but at the same time the dialogue pop up appeared and the game counted my click as skipping the dialogue.

Feels like those small F2P phone games except it’s not a F2P. Puzzles could be solved by a 3yo in classic mode but it passes time pretty well. Kinda repetitive at some point. You get what you pay for. 🤷
