ScubaVenture: The Search for Pirate’s Treasure

ScubaVenture: The Search for Pirate’s Treasure

Treasure in the abyss.

The wreckage of the Barbosa, one of the last terrible pirate ships to sail in Caribbean waters, rests at the bottom of the sea with its cargo of pillaged gold and valuables. The journal your father left behind before he mysteriously disappeared while searching for the Barbosa’s lost treasure holds the secret to locating its sunken remains. Strap on an oxygen tank and flippers, it’s time to finish your father’s work and go diving for fortune!

Plunder the submerged wreckage of a pirate ship in this colorful 2D side scrolling underwater action adventure originally developed by Apogee Software Productions for the pioneering PC publisher Softdisk. All manner of deadly sea life, hostile divers, and even spooky ghosts seek to prevent unwary adventurers from obtaining the lost treasure. Will you return to the surface with immense riches, or will you perish along with the pirates in a watery grave?

  • Scour the wreckage of the Barbosa to find all eight hidden treasures.

  • Fight off sea creatures and rival divers with your harpoon gun and bombs.

  • Plan your route and watch your oxygen level carefully so you don’t run out of air.

  • Beware of vengeful pirate ghost bosses who haunt the wreckage to protect their treasure!

Pros:

  • Nice concept, nice cut scene.

  • Exotic story.

  • Gameplay, graphic, sound track, sound effect are not so bad.

Cons:

  • Game progress is very slow at begin you must do many quest to get new gears. (doesn’t mean mining or crafting for me)

  • Enemies are really hard to fight for beginner. (no problem when you equipped with end game gears)

  • Your ship will flying very slow at begin, and the story line are quest running.

  • Seem the game are in development.

I need to say something to developers. Did you try your game before release ?

I started playing this when arteries was the only map available. The game has come a long ways, the new maps have been enjoyable, and while they still have some things to work on and bugs to crush, I’ve found myself enjoying what is very much like a space / aircraft fighter game with resource harvesting.

Also, if you are a fan of movies like Innerspace or Fantastic Voyage, you may find yourself sucked into this even easier.

The Fisherman - Fishing Planet

The Fisherman - Fishing Planet

I’ve played both Fishing Planet and The Fisherman: Fishing Planet, they are both great and have different issues. One reason I enjoy The Fisherman is that you don’t need to worry so much about making money in the game. You buy licenses one time, travel is cheaper, no cooldown on forwarding the time, and you make baitcoins by catching uniques (a few species gave credits on uniques). I got the game when it was on 60% discount, and I think it’s worth that but would probably think twice for paying full price for it (could be better to spend that money on the regular Fishing Planet instead).

Gave this review after not playing the game enough: This is what Fishing Planet used to be before they decided to change everything. Catch rates are so so much better and it is very much less grindy and believe me I grinded my backside off in Fishing Planet. Still early days but would recommend it but not at £34.99 I shopped around and got it much much cheaper.

Edit 31/01/2020: There is still bugged fish in the game where no matter what you the fish either runs and runs or comes so far in and then runs again.
