Aesthetic Melody

The game is hard and challenging.. Especially the ++ parts but with the soundtrack and all it’s a e s t h e t i c.

The only issue i had was the little stuttering effect (it’s VHS and all but it’s annoying especially while dodging stuff because you literally move an extra step etc. then restart…)

With all that in mind, i recommend the game and don’t forget to be patient !

this game is amazing, beautiful remake of nostalgic feeling game, i cant quite put my thumb on it, buuut its amazing, 10/10 for someone like adam, he made beautiful titles, and a game that makes me ragequit every 2 minutes but i ultimately come back because its so loveable

i do not however, like the bullets. that sh*t was annoying as hell

i ragequit through all the levels and had to take a break, but this game installed so fast and i love the acheivements and community market items

10/10 would recommend to your patient family member who likes old games,

Frustrate-a-ball

Frustrate-a-ball

I’ve played other modern Pongs with double paddles and fast balls and whatever but none with guns and bombs and multiballs and the game gets faster every level. Frustrate-a-ball is awesome. And only a couple of bucks! Would love to play it on an arcade machine.

When I first started playing I wanted to flip the table every time I heard “you is dead” but once I got the hang of it I had to keep playing for that high score! Really cool modern Pong with powerups.

Glyph☀️

Glyph☀️

Glyph is challenging and relaxing platformer. That’s a rare combination to see but in this case it really works well. There are multiple different level themes with their own personal soundtracks to create nice and relaxing atmosphere. Some are darker while others raise you above to clouds.

The learning curve in this game has been balanced well with the levels. At the beginning you feel like you can collect everything quite easily and you get in to nice mood. Then levels get harder but you don’t really notice it that well because you start to be in control of your character and it does what you want it to do.Even harder levels won’t feel impassable because you’re not forced to collect everything and the mechanics are simple to learn. What you need is little creativity to reach harder places.

One of the smoothest platformers I’ve ever played. It can be a bit frustrating when you first are learning, but once you get the hang of it, you literally start to fly. The world is your oyster- er… scarab!

  1. The levels are condensed, short and mostly unique, providing amazing replay value after hundreds of attempts. They’re also in a 3D space, so optimization becomes more of an interesting challenge! (I definitely haven’t played Broken Road 1000 times, what are you talking about)

  2. You can choose the levels you want to play and which ones you don’t, providing relief if a level isn’t your speed.

A New Experience, Each Time

  • Pick from scores of options when creating your battle researcher. Lux doesn’t care about how you look, merely about how you perform in the field.

  • When you’re done, you can fine-tune the difficulty level to your heart’s content. Go easy, go hard, go insane, or pick a random difficulty that might be completely unpredictable!

  • Want more? Go online and battle your friends' Coromon, testing your squad and sharpening your tactical skills!

A Word from the Developers

We’re honored to be able to provide Coromon to you, a game we’ve poured our heart into. Coromon is our tribute to the classics of the genre. While staying loyal to the core gameplay, we wanted to add new gameplay features but also keep the retro look, with a modernized pixel art style.

Thank you for playing Coromon. We hope you will enjoy the game as much as we enjoyed creating it!

Lavapools - Arcade Frenzy

Lavapools - Arcade Frenzy

You will hate bats for the rest of your life if you play this game.

An Analysis of Lavapools

Recommendation for people who like rage games/games that require skill and have lots of player death: 10/10

Recommendation for people who aren’t into that stuff: 5/10

Overview: Lavapools is a top-down rage game. You are a crab, trying to get your son back who has been stolen by an octopus who is designing traps for you.

Lavapools has 3 gamemodes on several levels:

1. Procedural

The most common gamemode. You collect gems from gem spawn points, and as you get more gems the world gets more hazardous. At 25 gems the door opens to end your progress and save your score, but you can keep collecting gems. When you die, you drop about half of your gems in one little pile and can pick them back up when you respawn (with 0 gems, of course). The hazard level/rank/music also resets when you die. The levels in this gamemode are the smallest compared to other gamemodes.

Pure skills arcade game. Why it’s awesome ?

1. You play as a blue Krabb

2. You play in a HOOOOT volcano (Yes, the game is called Lavapools for a reason)

3. It’s full of deadly trap, and you will die …. a lot.

Very easy to understand, very hard to master.

Retexo Mori

Retexo Mori

“Above all, we hold this to be irrefutable: Death is the only True Evil. Retexo Mori.”

  • Daily Prayer of the Unyielding

Retexo Mori is a Pac-Man-like game in first person, with bullet hell elements and an aesthetic that clashes early 90’s FPS pixel-art with vaporwave. It features short, high-intensity rounds inside carefully crafted arenas where you must navigate, avoid, and outwit Shadows that pursue you relentlessly. It is easy to understand, but difficult to master: while the enemies behave predictably, in tandem they can easily box you in if you don’t think far enough ahead.

Great controls, excellent variety, interesting levels, what’s not to love? This game is very difficult though - play on assist mode unless you are very well versed in difficult platformers such as IWBTG fangames. Controls are simple, but very precise. Each level feels different from each other and brings something new to the game, which is something I wish were more common in games in general.

Edit As of the last update, the game has been reworked to remove the difficulty spikes without needing to have an “assist” mode. It is now an A+ speedrunning experience. If you enjoy speedrunning platformers, GET THIS GAME NOW!

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY GENERIC APPEARANCES. Behind this generic facade of “looks like every other platformer” and the mediocre presentation lies one of the purest distillations of 2D reflex-based platforming. Silky smooth controls, impeccable level design, unique level elements, heart-pounding music and a fully fledged level and game builder round out the highlights of this love letter to action platform games!

Enemy placement and level flow are extremely well implemented; so whether you’re rushing for a time attack or carefully trying to collect all the gems without dying, each stage is a palimpsest of overlapping multi-function design with plenty of room to pick your own strategies.

Eagle Island Twist

Eagle Island Twist

Eagle Island is an amazing rogue-like game that will draw you in and frustrate you in the most rewarding you. It’s exactly the game I’ve been looking for and I’m very glad I picked it up. 9/10

How I found it.

I found EI when browsing through Nintendo Switch news. I’d been looking for a new indie game to pick-up and it was suggested as a new release. The pixel art immediately caught my attention and I added it to my to-buy list. I saw there was a demo available and decided to try it out on PC. It was fun! The demo was very fun and I had a very hard time getting used to controlling Quill (main character) and Koji (friendly owl - he attacks) but didn’t let that stop em from enjoying the game. At that point, I wasn’t in the best financial position to spend 20€ in a game. But something just drew me in. Something just told me, I have to buy it.

My original review was written extremely shortly after the game came out, but the developer has released an update in response to the mixed reviews that actually addressed a lot of my issues here! There were quite a few tweaks and overall it feels a lot better. Most notably, the runestones are now able to be backpacked and used in later dungeons, which is incredibly useful.

Additionally, I will confess that some of my complaints probably did come with lack of practice or familiarity. So if you are more familiar with this genre, or would be willing to dedicate time to getting used to the feel of the game, I’d say go for it. I’ve got 11 hours in the game now, and it may be a combination of tweaks and me getting more comfortable with the controls, but the whole thing feels a lot smoother and less frustrating.
