The Market of Light
This will be many’s first experience with Unreal 5, it certainly was for me. Let me detail why this tech demo has me excited for the future of this engine:
The scalability of detail is something I’ve never seen before at this level. It’s the reason they went with a bug theme for this demo. From a relatively great distance you’ll spot a seemingly unimpressive pile of raspberries, until you land near them and realize every piece of the aggregate fruit is rendered individually in great detail. Games using current engines can pull something like this off by lowering the LOD as you move further away, resulting in that familiar blurry deconstruction of texture and geometry detail. But it’s not present in UE5, those fucking wizards!

Running it using a mobile gtx1060 and it ran at about 28 fps. On that note, it ran really smoothly considering.
This is an incredible demo of what the new UE5 has to offer. At a distance everything looks fantastic but the magic is when you fly up close to everything. Not only does the world seem to “grow” (as in, its vastness is perceived differently depending on how close you are to it. At least in my experience) but the textures are vastly more detailed than youd imagine.
See the crate of walnuts? Go in close and realize each nut is its own entity and that the texture you are seeing isnt just a “skin” but an actual map of texture. All the grooves and roughness of the item are portrayed. A letter block? Fly in close and realize that, just like in real life, all the textures are there.

Anatidae

Diamond hunt
This is a game about collecting diamonds and avoiding traps. Sounds simple and it is simple, but do you think it’s easy?
This game is about collecting diamonds and making it to the end of the round while the rooms get bigger and they start to generate maze and traps as you progress further. Your job is to collect all the diamonds in order to make it to the next room and to use powerups to help you to survive.
Everything is randomly generated from how the maze gets build around you to where in the room your starting position will be. There’s no such a thing as remembering patterns or paths in this game. You simply have to be completely aware of your surroundings and you can’t let your guard down at any point. The difficulty curve is designed to be very casual at first, but getting frustratingly difficult towards the end. Using of powerups is required to make it to the end. You need to collect diamonds in order to use them and each powerup costs 25 diamond type. There’s four diamond types and two powerups on each diamond. In order to use the second powerup, the first powerup must be in use or activated. Powerups will last to the end of using time or to the end of current room, except for the purple powerups as you wont see their effect until the next room.
Head 2 Head
I can’t stop playing this game. After the update that included the head case and rolling for heads I’ve been addicted. Picked the game up just for the style but I love the feel of this game and can’t wait to see future updates. The games combo system is really open ended, basically letting you do anything you try. It’s easy to play but so far it seems really deep too. Has parries like 3rd strike but the game doesn’t require special move motions. Don’t know where it going or how big it will get but I’m really enjoying what’s here. Good music too. Please put in a music player so I can listen to the tracks from options screen or extras menu or something.

I AM THE FASTEST
Also this game is really fun so you should buy it. Combos feel really good and the game allows for lots of creativity. The music is also great especially once you get farther into survival mode.

TY the Tasmanian Tiger
TL;DR
It’s an amazing blast from-the-past from the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era of 3D Platformers. Very charming, with solid (but easy) platforming, great music, and with some good graphical and camera improvements.
Positives:
-
A classic brought back from the dead! This game is (considered by me and others) a classic from the PS2 era!
-
It’s a solid platformer! Nice tight controls, nothing to horribly hard, and good level design!
-
Quirky characters! From Shazza, to Maurie, to even Ty himself! They all have there own personality and, sometimes they are even funny! (Especially Maurie!) Boss Cass is a legendary villain in my eyes!

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger is essentially a 3D platformer in the style of classics like Super mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot and Croc, just to name a few. The game clearly takes inspiration of those and even wears some of the design decisions on its sleeve. Ofcourse there is absolutely nothing wrong with that when its done well.
And well they did!
Let’s look at the pros and cons!
Pros:
–—–
-
Fun and varied gameplay
-
Great and fitting soundtrack for each individual level
-
Cute characters and simple story
