Kosmokrats

Kosmokrats

I have no words.

This game is truly a hidden gem. I cannot understand how this game has only around 30 reviews.

Sure the gameplay might not be that much, yet it’s still fun, but the story is just so good, I was literally excited to see how things go in diffrent paths, I got all of the 17 endings and almost all of the achievements. Nearly all details are there, even the smallest ones. There’s quite a lot of humour too.

There are so many refrences to pop culture and other games. I still cannot fathom how this game was made by ONE person, with little help from others.

This is a narrative game revolving around completing drone assemblies of spaceships made out of tetris-like pieces. The central mechanics are serviceable and make for some interesting puzzles and an alternately frustrating and satisfying experience as you try to get pieces to connect by bumping and pulling them.

Whilst that wouldn’t be enough to make a great game by itself, the narrative is the real draw here, running a pastiche of soviet-era space and sci-fi references into the exploration of various characters - and enables you to change how the story turns out as these characters vie for power and try to keep Space Force going in very trying circumstances.

Last level is a great example “How to make cool game and destroy it with final level”.

Optimization sucks and even though my PC can run game correctly with (at least) stable 30 fps, there are lots of frame drops which is annoying (unless you like playing with 10 fps).

How about setting, maybe that will change something and will make the game run properly.

NOPE. Settings is imo one of the devs joke, cause it doesn’t change anything (despite the fog from tutorial seen just after start and never again). Game looks exactly the same, no matter which variant you’ve chosen.

UPDATE: After getting past a couple B.S. parts (due to bugs) I’ve changed my mind about the game.

This game isn’t ready for prime time just yet, but it’s still pretty fun.

The good:

1. The shrink ray mechanic is fun! This might be a good cheap game when it’s done and all the problems are ironed out.

2. The artwork and music are good

3. Good voice acting

4. Good humor

The bad:

1. Shrink ray projectiles sometimes will literally go THROUGH the broad side of an enemy’s chest and “miss”. This is made worse by the fact that the reload time for the shrink ray is so long. If your shot goes through an alerted agent, you’re as good as dead. You can’t afford to miss any shots, even once.

Big thank you to my darling daughter who I unwisely made an agreement with over this game. After finding it in the survival section of the store she insisted on buying it for me on the understanding that I would clock up an ungodly number of hours on it and no being asleep in from of my computer allowed. Laughingly I agreed - I mean I like cute junky kiddie games, how bad could it be…?

sigh

I got so bored I actually wrote a guide for it. .

Okay so you have a pony and it walks around in a vaguely cute environment. Unfortunately everything that comes after that feels like someone sketched a vague idea for it out and then forgot to actually implement it. Instead you end up with a weird game which is “watch the loading bars.” Want your pony to work an 8 hour shift? Watch a loading bar for 30 seconds! Want your pony to enjoy a film? Watch that loading bar go! Feel like taking your pony to university and training in a new career? You guessed it! Loading bar! There actually is no content beyond loading bars to basically everything you do, not even tiny animations. I really cannot stress how devoid of content this game is. Even when you have an entire section of items called “Toys” barring two of them (which are also reused as the only two animation in the social interactions with other ponies) all that happens when you play with them is that the icon that represents them appears in a though bubble above your pony for a few seconds.
