Scourge of War: Waterloo
This is a wargame and isn’t ashamed of it. It is a good representation of the Napoleonic battlefield. With the three DLC it covers the entire Waterloo campaign. The best praise for the game I can think of is that descriptions of game battles read exactly like descriptions of the real battles (see the end of this review for an example). Watch some videos, read some after action reports, see what the game is like. You will know very quickly if this is a game for you.
There are a lot of options on how to play, and there is even a game mode that puts you in the saddle of your commander so that you can only see what he sees. There is also a mode where commands have to be given by courier. The experienced Napoleonic wargamer (or historian) will find that he can do pretty much everything in the game that would have been done in the original battle.

This is actually not a review of the vanilla/base game and instead a review of
the mod named Kriegspiel. Since that mod actually is what Scourge of war
Waterloo never became.
My top favorite games:
Scourge of war Waterloo/Ghettysburg, Syrian warfare, NTW3mod for Napoleon total war, Take command 2nd manassas, Sid meiers Gettysburg, Fields of glory (Amiga), Men of war Assault squad, Project reality, Arma2
Here is my review about the Kriegspiel mod and the Kriegspiel gaming group:
Now the KS mod has been updated to 1.29 but the only person that really knows and can explain the KS mod in a good way is DarkRob316.

Command Ops 2 Core Game
Command Ops 2 is a simulation of WWII-warfare on the grand-tactical/operational scale.
On the surface this just means that everything is bigger: you’re in command of lots of troops, the maps are huge (several km²s) and scenarios span over longer periods of time (from 2 to 8 days). On closer inspection, however, you will find that the change in quantity and overall scale also adds an additional layer of quality: Command Ops 2 features several sophisticated systems (e.g. recon, supply, order-delay, nightfall/resting) to simulate all the important factors on this scale, while at the same time not missing out on the smaller aspects (e.g. front/flank/rear armour values for tanks, penetration of weapons at different ranges, etc.). This additional layer enhances the complexity of the simulation and turns Command Ops into one of the very few truly tactical games out there: It’s not about quick reactions and clicking fast enough, but rather, it’s about thinking, handling information, anticipating and developing plans.

A very interesting approach to operational level strategy in ww2. Instead of the traditional hex/turn gameplay, this one is rts, but plays as if it were turn based as you can pause and assess the situation and review your troops leisurely. Lots of fun pressing the play button and watching your colonels interpreting your orders.
The order of battle and equipment and crew info is detailed and feels like historically accurate and realistic, as well as the movement and combat rules. It´s a well thought strategy game.

Command: Modern Operations
This is basically an heavily updated and improved version of Command Modern Air / Naval Operation (CMANO)- but don’t think that’s a bad thing, in fact it’s a very good thing.
That sentence above might make someone who is unfamiliar with the game think: But why should I then buy CMO (Command Modern Operations) instead of CMANO when the latter is cheaper?
The simple answer to that is that almost all important aspects of the game has been improved, a lot of irritating limitations due to the state of computer hardware when CMANO was released in 2013 has been removed and a lot of new features which not only increases realism, but also makes the game more accessible for newcomers to the operationel level military ops simulation world has been introduced.

If you read some of the reviews here (or watched LPs), you will have a good idea what this game is about.
I want to adress here just some points critizesed quite often in reviews: the missing campaign and/or the lack of scenarios, leading to the impression one would be forced to buy DLCs to actually do something with this game.
If you buy C:MO you get of course quite some turorials to learn the basics. Given the mass of the simulated systems and the different time frames of these systems it is impossible to teach you every detail in these turorials. When you start a scenario and are not familiar with the weapons used in it, you will have to learn what they do and don´t do. The database gives you everything you need, but you have to read it. If you start a scenario and are not familiar with the weapons, aircraft, ships and so on you might spent some time just to get an understanding of you forces before doing you first moves. This game requires patience.

General War Memories
Great WWII strategy game. Maybe best game out there. Do not play. Vaccum sucking money game. Very bad instructions, very confusing steps in events. Everything is always YOUR fault you didn’t receive rewards for events (you didn’t spend enough money), you did not follow instructions, usually aren’t any, if there are confusing at the least. Do not care about game, only how much money they can get you to spend. Played the Vietnam version. Charged $100 US dollars. As I was spinning lucky slot machine for rewards (for the $100) game froze. Tried to reload game but it vanished like it never existed. Closed with no warning because they were not making enough money. May do same here.

Verdun
As game; which is built to give you fun; this game is quite hard to get into intianlly due to its ww1 and you can get shredded by the other side with mg13 spray the drops you body with weight of enough lead you now have scrap value to buy a new watch. But as simulator of WW1 warfare, probably it is the best you can get.its Extremely historically accurate, But this certainly is NOT battlefield 1 clone.
The maps are basically a mix of trenches and vegetation; there are no props, no embellishment; it is purely a wasteland with corpses, burned vegetation and relics of horses and tanks. In the middle of all of this; you and your team advancing toward objectives with no easy way to distinguish who is who.

Was almost dead for a while but it’s back to glory now. A lot of stuff got reworked, mechanics work more smoothly, and it’s just too much bloody fun. Get back in the trenches, cowards!

4th Generation Warfare
This Is an update to the review 11/20/21
Single player Is not bad to play. There are quality of life things that needs to be Improved.
-
Instead of checking the phone for each person or backing out the menu to re open to view messages from characters to have a simple list of all messages.
-
When you tell your military to move somewhere they will move Into borders of countries and start a war If still there traveling In two or three days.
-
More defence from cyber attacks. As a large country you cannot defend against this. Other actors can ruin your entire economy and cause mass shortages withing days.

In the beginning it was confusing but the more I played the more I realized all of the hidden treasures that this game has behind its sleeve. Its not those games that tells you everything right off the bat and spoiling all the fun by doing so, this is a progressive type game that the longer you play the more you discover and develop a history as the leader of the nation. By far one of the most underestimated games with extremely high potential by far I have ever seen to date. If you don’t like this game cause its hard, tutorials aren’t good, or you don’t understand the game play, I would say that the game provides difficulty levels and different modes to play through, play the actual game and this is 4th generation warfare which you should have researched what that means if you don’t know. Great Game!
