2. Anything game-breaking is immediately fixed usually by the awesome developers who spend so much of their time burning their eyes on the screen just to hear everyones suggestions and reports out.

3. Active developers in the community speaking and having conversation with the community in which they take ideas on from. (not that they need to, they’re not obligated to always respond or do work for everyone)

This game is so much fun. When you have even one other human to play it with, it is a comedy of errors as you try to manipulate your ship (which steers like a cow at the best of times, and a rock most of the time) into the depths of the Living Infinite, discovering all sorts of crazy new weapons and costumes along the way.

It SAYS it’s playable single player, but that’s absolutely laughable. You can fill your submarine with a crew of bots that will nominally do things like slam their weakest wrenches against the holes in your ship or fire at every small enemy on your screen (even if it’s something you SHOULDN’T BE FIRING AT, like the totem that will spawn a ghost if you shoot at it but is perfectly safe if you steam gently past it)… but they won’t help you if you want a turn on the shooty shooty guns and want someone else to steer your yellow submarine. Nor will they help you bust through walls in your caving adventures if you happened to be holding an item that does not damage walls (like the chemistry set).

There is some really good idea in this game, but need a lot more content. The mission are pretty simple, even without a full team. it’s fun to switch from one post to another.

The bot are kinda dumb, constantly lowering energy. anyway, really good potential, hope for more good stuff.

I backed the game before its Steam release and played a fair bit with some mates wayyy back, it’s made a crazy amount of progress since then and I’m super excited to see what’s to come! It’s obvious it’s in early access but still a real fun experience if you’ve got a few friends to play with - it’s playable solo but the AI is a little clunky as it is.

Easily one of my favorite games in recent memory. Rewards thoroughness, careful planning and knowledge of game systems (which some have quite a learning curve especially when starting out).

This game is a lovecraftian mesh of QWOP, SS13, FTL, and more combined. Easily moddable, and the Submarine editor could be an entirely separate game in and of itself and i’d be fun to build.

While the crews (AI) you can hire are generally OK, there is a lot you really do need other human players to do for exploration and combat outside of the submarine which hopefully gets rectified in the AI overhaul.

the game has a bit of everything in it, can be amogus, sea of thieves and has terraria-like combat and is well designed for pve and pvp, and the micromanagement (for the lack of a better word) when operating a sub with a crew allows everyone of all roles in the sub to have an equal amount of engagement, normally i go bunga when making a review but this game is so well designed for what it intends to achieve and that it appeals alot to what i like to see in these sort of games that i just had to commend it here.

So is this game worth your time?

TL;DR - Absolutely! Its for those who love the team-deathmatch dynamic with a little twist (the sharks).

I have always loved ocean life, and sharks and the mystery of diving into the unknown is a huge fantasy for most. In Depth you get to explore that world with some goals set in place. Blood & Gold is the most popular game mode in Depth, so my focus will be on what this game mode offers for this review. In this game mode, the divers (4 members) enter the ocean accompanied by a ‘S’ubmersible ‘T’reasure ‘E’xtraction ‘VE’hicle or S.T.E.V.E.. The role of the diver is to scour the ocean for any and all gold, ensure that S.T.E.V.E. successfully retrieves all gold from the safes (4 in total), and protect S.T.E.V.E. through the extraction process as well as the long trek back to the pickup point. The sharks (2 members) are aware of the divers’ presence however. Sharks seek to kill all 34 divers or disable S.T.E.V.E. before their own tickets run out (32 in total) or S.T.E.V.E. escapes. While divers benefit through all gold received through the unlock of new gear/weapons, sharks benefit from every kill made (translated as evolution points) which allow them to unlock new abilities. The 3D navigation for both sides, forced movement through objectives, gradually diminishing visibility, and progression of unlocks makes for an even balance in gameplay (in my opinion).

This review is based off sections, so you can review gameplay reviews for diver & shark respectively. Only looking to play shark or diver? This’ll make it easier for you (BUT I seriously recommend playing both at some point!)

1: It’s easier to learn shark than diver, I’ll just be straight up honest. Shark you only need to worry about accuracy for grabbing divers, and being sure to net at least two kills for every death you have; trading lives won’t work!

As a sub sim enthusiast since 688 attack sub (1989) I can tell you that Wolfpack is the next sub sim you’re going to want to play and will probably continue to play for years to come. This game is truly a profound experience!

To those with some familiarity with this genre you can expect this title to fall on the opposite end of the spectrum that the recent release UBOAT is on. Uboat is a crew management simulation. For perspective, Silent Hunter III would fall somewhere in the middle, as there is time compression and crew management but the player orders their crew to perform the individual functions on the boat.

First off, if you are looking for single player experience, go back and grab yourself SH5 and The wolves of steel modpack.

That is, in my opinion, the best submarine simulator there is.

That being said, Wolfpack has unique hands on approach with controlling the boat itself, and it really is the best aspect of the whole game, that and the ability to play with other people.

After all the good things (two things) to say about this “sim”, I would NOT recommend the game for anybody. Not on the regular price at the very least. The game is really buggy (graphic glitches, sound bugs of massive forest fire starting on your boat, being able to drive too deep with diesel engines running, AI only caring about the boat that has done the most damage. to mention a few)

Do not buy this game. After playing 67.2 hours and following the game for 1.6 years I can say it’s nothing but a glitchy almost unplayable mess, that is assuming you can actually get into the broken game server. Features are being dropped left and right with updates containing little to no content other than cosmetic fluff for the microtransation store. The game looks nothing like the trailers used to sell the game, from the world and all of its inhabitants being static, to the removal of game features that to this day are still advertised on the games main gallery. The devs have been promising from the beginning that things will get better but they never do and when asked about it they either ignore and continue as they were or make some hollow apology and promise it will change.

Vertigo Games has been abusing the Early Access Program to build a game on the backs of duped early adopters. What they promised years ago was to deliver a randomly generated, open world diving simulator with unparalleled realism, graphics, and gameplay. What they have delivered over the past couple of years is a completely unstable, unplayable fantasy game with built-in monetization and in-game purchases, with small and broken maps. Their screenshots DO NOT match the actual gameplay. When the game used to work, it was a multiplayer gameplay clone of Depth Hunter 2: Deep Drive, a decent if barren clone.

My review for this game has been long over do, an I can hardly believe that I haven’t left one yet.

That being said, this is definitely one my favorite games and one of the best games in my opinion but that could just be because I am a huge fish guy. There is a lot to do in this game and the dev still hasn’t stopped updating it. Feed and Grow does have a set of problems but more than makes up for it with its great AI and graphics. Though I do feel as if the game was better back a few years back; AI wasn’t as buggy (But it’s still really good) the megalodon was more challenging of a boss, and a good few made up fish were still in the game as well as plenty of other things that made it better. Though there are plenty of things now that rival the game back in the day, especially the new incarnation of survival mode (Which is not what I recommend playing when you first get it, as it is far more challenging then deathmatch, which is what most people play because it has no limits) which is way more fun and unique than it used to be and makes me think that dev will certainly make the game better in the future.

This game has more depth than I would allow me to accept at first glance. The more I play, the more frustrated I get. But let’s not forget it’s in a good way (except Salmon acting like they’re jack shit against similar sized Pike).

But all in all, as an arcadish game it has surprisingly varied gameplay depending on the fish you are playing. I really like this, they could easily charge 30€+ for this.

To be perfectly clear though. I f-ing hate this game sometimes, but it’s not unfair. It just in my opinion quite frustrating :D You could be doing everything by the book considering the situation but you still end up getting eaten by some fugly fish, because timing. I could see the struggle to be similar to IRL fish, albeit in a much shorter span of time.

A couple years ago, I had a friend who was interested in playing this in co-op, so I bought my own copy in advance.

Our plans fell through, but I still ended up putting hundreds of solo hours into this game.

Give this game a try if you:

+like survival/craft (Bonus points if you like building expensive, expansive storage units for your 1500 stacks of wood.)

+prefer more sandbox-y game play (There is a story, but it doesn’t railroad too much.)

+hate seagulls (You’ll be killing plenty of them.)

TLDR: Don’t buy this game yet if you prefer fast-paced development, want a ‘complete’ experience, or in any way, shape, or form find bugs to be unacceptable in your gameplay. You’ve been given a fair warning and if you buy anyway, don’t say you weren’t informed.

Raft.

This is THE game I go to when I want to just relax, zone out, and enjoy a game without feeling any pressure or anxiety in any way. Between the pacing, the graphical design, and the music, the feel of this entry is very Zen. It’s almost akin to a sort of cognitive therapy in it’s own right.
