Eximius: Seize the Frontline

Eximius: Seize the Frontline

In late 2017 I came across a RTS-FPS hybrid genre, it has been sometime since an actual development of a video game in this genre and pretty rare too. I soon found out who the team behind who design and craft out this game. I wanted to helped out and so I did as a volunteer community testers in the early days of EXIMIUS.

I loved C&C Renegade and this game was like the missing puzzle in C&C Renegade where it was suppose to have RTS-FPS hybrid. It was heavily inspired by Battlezone II and the cancelled video game called “Tiberium”. I myself was also a modder , knows that making a video game or a mod is require a lot of resource & manpower. With constant Q&A and R&D is not easy

Explaining the game

Eximius is an asymmetrical 5v5 team-oriented game that combines both the FPS and RTS genres. Unlike most hybrid games that are simply either an FPS with RTS elements or visa versa, Eximius implements both genres equally and in their entirety.

The RTS side of the game implements all of the features of a traditional RTS game like base building, training units, researching upgrades, using unit and commander based abilities along with map and resource control. There are 3 resource types the commander utilises: Credits, Energy and Supplies. Credits are your standard general purpose currency, they’re used for most things and can only be gained through resource nodes on the map. Energy is the more advanced resource used for upgrades and higher tier units, this can be obtained through resource nodes and commander built power plants. Credits are needed for the use of abilities and some unit upgrades, they can only be obtained through resource nodes. Much like Company of Heroes you can reinforce resource points by setting up, depending on faction, an armoury/mule near the point, this will increase the resource income of that node and make it so the node cannot be captured while the armoury/mule is reinforcing it. Both factions within the game are divided into 3 sub-factions similar to the likes of C&C3 and C&C Generals: Zero Hour. Each sub-faction has unique abilities, units, unit variants and research which allows for a considerable amount of options for the commander. These options are only further expanded by the unique interactions between each unit/ability and the players on the ground.

Really, really, like this game. It’s the perfect game for VR, makes you feel like you’ve been pulled inside an 80’s arcade game. Playing on the Quest via Oculus Link, it freezes a lot (total loss of data between headset and pc, game continues to play, so it’s just too much data for the cable I believe) and I have a substantial rig that can handle anything. Playing via wireless (Virtual Desktop) no freezes, but there is lag when the screen gets real busy. Overall, it’s one of the best games I’ve played in VR.

I have 3H in the game and this is my review.

Motion sickness : YES is there, from the first 1 second u push play

Fun: After you get used to the motion sickness, it is really fun but is just a 15 minutes game, i only played 3h cuz i’m insane and i want to do all the difficulties (also i was streaming and i looked at chat a lot)

Quality: The objects are far away sow i cant really tell but 2 of the 3 attacks ware not even 3D, 1 was an orange png bulb of light, the other was blu…………….

Gameplay: There is 1 tipe of gun with a few “tipes of bullets” that you “unlock” as a temporary power during the run. But is ok, really fun arcade stile. Reload? no, you do not reload. Aim? It aim assists you…

Talk about nostalgia!!!! This game is the old school kid playing new school dress up and I absolutely love it! Right off the bat I notice the similarity to Gauntlet Legends one of my top favorite N64 games ever! The salute to Monsters Inc. who comes up with this stuff!?! I half expected Randell to run out and start stealing kids!! Is boom stick an Army of Darkness reference or am I just reading into all of this way too much?? Also, I can’t remember the last time I had a LAN party. I have deeply missed a good old fashion LAN party and now that I’m old enough to bring beer why do I not have them more often than ever, oh yeah responsibilities. I have played solo as well as in a group, but honestly it seems like this game was made for groups. Get yourself some friends or your gunna have a bad time.

notice: bear in mind i have yet to play past the tutorial. will update the review after i do

i really like that this is a defend the payload local co-op twin stick shooter with a dab of RPG elements. that’s one of the things the game does right in my opinion. it definitely has something unique going for it

now, the game seems like it could be fun (and it is; the little i played was surprisingly engaging) but do bear in mind it’s very light on content, with just 14 missions not including the tutorial. though, i do not know how long each mission is/could be. i wouldn’t say no to an endless wave mode or something like that, but sadly, it appears to be abandoned

Evaluation 9/10**

Very beautifully decorated Russian forests. (The feeling is that you yourself run there)

The other cards are also beautiful.

Weapons are certainly not enough, but you can upgrade and inflate the lyule)

If you play with 3 friends fun triples!

I advise you to buy and encourage friends to buy this game!

Since 8,86$ is not so much for such a quality toy.

With enjoyable game-play, decent graphics, and strong co-operative potential to draw from, Ghost Recon Future Soldier should have been a fantastic game, and the console version is. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has proven once more to care very little for their PC fan base by releasing a game so riddled with bugs, that a huge portion of the player base cannot even play the game, which is just an example of blatant laziness on the part of the developers.

No matter that it is based on an extremely successful franchise and could otherwise be a brilliant game, using the controls is unbearable, let alone all of the left over icons from the Xbox version, inclusion of mouse acceleration and the lack of any real customisation menus. This makes it difficult to want to be able to progress through the game regardless of how good the story or multi-player could be.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III

Campaign: An interesting attempt at something different storywise late into things, but starts off poorly and isn’t really fun to play at any point. Pass.

Multiplayer: Decent enough weapons balance and perkset, but the overreliance on Specialists and their abilities is grating, and the fact that a CRAZY amount of weapons are locked away behind lootboxes sits really poorly. Pass.

Nightmares: HAHAHAHAHA no. Pass.

Zombies: Five fantastic original maps, nine incredible remakes, and an endless assortment of custom maps… All with the most fantastic movement mechanics, perk balance and weaponsets you could ever want. Let’s face it - this is the Zombies game. Everything else about this game may be trash, but as a hub to play a HUGE chunk of the best Zombies content that Treyarch has to offer, Black Ops 3 really delivers.

Black Ops III. I have mainly only played the zombies of it, but i have enjoyed the hell out of it, especially the custom maps. Even if this game didnt have custom map support, it would still be really fun.

DISCLAIMER: This ranking is pretty much only for zombies, but some things (Grind, Audience, Gametime etc) are also transferable.

UNITED COMMAND ®

Nice game with command and conquer vibes. Surely needs some polishing but already in early access I had some fun with the coop-campaign. The assets for the troops and the buildings look very good, the maps should be a little more detailed. Also it would be great to be able to sell units - especially when the raffinery is destroyed and you need money to buy another one.

BallisticNG

BallisticNG

Review updated after release

BallisticNG is an homage to the old PS1 generation WipEout games (the original, 2097/XL and 3). For those who haven’t played them, you pilot a jet=powered anti-gravity ship across crazy tracks, using weapons and piloting skill to reach the finish line in first place.

The game really does feel exactly like a WipEout game. The handling is a nearly perfect clone of Wip3out, the teams clearly bring to mind the eight Wip3out teams and even the announcer is straight out of Wip3out.

Real player with 7977.6 hrs in game

BallisticNG is a fun game.

There is a certain satisfaction you get when you manage to weave your way through a complex and tight track in a hover car going at blisteringly fast speeds. Other racers fly with you, leaving their colourful trails in their wake as they try and blow you and each other up in a hectic battle to get first place. The ships you pilot are striking and recognisable and all feel satisfying to pilot once you’ve learned how to fly them properly.

The game has a very simple control scheme, and the game itself follows the concept of “easy to learn, hard to master” to a T. The response to input causes the ships to swing around and really brings out the feeling of weight from the ships you pilot The faster you go, the skill ceiling gets higher and higher as you discover tricks and skips and improve your airbraking and steering skills to help get faster lap times. True tests of skill come often and the difficulty doesn’t often feel cheap. The game is compatible with keyboard and XInput controllers out of the box and you can switch between them seamlessly, as you can have both plugged in at the same time and be able to switch input on the fly.

ArcRunner

ArcRunner

ArcRunner is a beautiful Cyberpunk-styled action rogue-lite set in the far future on board a huge space station where the controlling AI has gone insane, and its up to you to traverse the Arc to find and destroy it.

You start each run as a newly-cloned human, and using credits earned in each level augment and replace your body using robotic and cybernetic enhancements until you’re more machine than human.

The game features frantic 3-rd person action, a randomised weapon and augment system with almost unlimited possible builds, huge bosses to fight and 2-player online co-op.

Fortification: tower defence

You have a main base, where your escape vehicle is. you protect it by creating turrets along the way to it.

where this game STANDS OUT is it has unlimited amounts of maps, as they are autogenerated from a random text. it has multiplayer. and you can alter the route on the maps by manipulating the ground up or down, this game is not just good, ITS GREAT! buy it. just do it, and try it, i bet you will not refund it. its THAT good.

I really want to like this game. Unfortunately it’s quite rough around the edges and has some major issues with it.

A few of the bigger issues that ding this game quite hard are.

1. Neirodata isn’t always rewarded after launching your rocket. This is the biggest issue since Neirodata is your research points in the game. It stops advancement in the game and getting the upgrades to optimize your towers. I had a massive source of frustration with this after 5-6 runs in a row and not getting a single reward. Even after attempting to play the game more I only get rewarded every 2-3 runs at best. This kills most of the fun with the game being the entire progression system, since beyond that its bare-bones.
