Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days - A misunderstood masterpiece

Dog Days, Follows the perspective of self medicated, schizophrenic, psychopath James Seth Lynch (or Lynch for short) and ex-mercenary Adam Kane Marcus (or Kane for short) and their attempt at a ‘Last Job’ so they can finally settle down and get out of the game for good. Lynch has been working for a criminal businessman who goes by the name Glazer, since the events of the previous game. Glazer has a big arms deal planned that will pay enough to put Lynch into retirement. To aid the deal Lynch calls Kane knowing his expertise will more than help if things go south.

IN A WORD: WORTHWHILE

IN SHORT:

WHAT TO EXPECT:

One or two player FPS. Violent adult themes. Great crime-based setting. Brutal story. Graphically visceral, lots of blood and gore. Satisfying gameplay but very taxing on hardest difficulty. Fun multiplayer but low player-base. MP modes require a minimum number of players.

ACHIEVEMENTS: A mixed bag. Story ones cant be missed. Some require MP play.

STATUS: COMPLETE.

WHEN TO BUY: ON SALE. DLC rarely on sale.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men™

Played this and Dog Days back when they originally released on XBox 360, starting in 2007. This is a fantastic couch co-op and a fun single player experience too! I don’t understand the criticism levied at these games, as 7/10 isn’t a terrible score; it is slightly above average. People, I am assuming post 2000 birthday “havers”, are the ones I see doing this.

1. The cover system is janky, it does it automatically. Guess what?! This was a cool mechanic at the time and pushed the envelope.

2. The story is almost so violent it is comical. Not true, it is gritty and this story was well written and I would watch a movie of it….OH WAIT, we all have!! John Wick. Think about the story, and even GTAV with Michael and Trevor’s relationship. They broke ground in this game.

SPOILER-FREE (more like this on quietschisto.com )

TL;DR: Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is a cover-based Shooter in a mostly urban setting.

The story follows the ex-mercenary Kane, who wants to save his family from death, which technically isn’t anything you haven’t seen a million times before, although the narrative shows a fair share of potential.

Sadly, it is presented so badly that it has no way of really telling the player anything.

The game mechanics work (not great, but they work), but fail to bring anything new or exciting to the table. Standard cover-shooter stuff.

PAYDAY™ The Heist

PAYDAY™ The Heist

I have Payday the Heist and Payday 2 and after almost 5500+ gameplay hours still loving the simplicity of Payday the Heist. If i have to compare part 2 with part 1 then Payday 2 is more a CARRYBAG SIMULATOR wich is litterly a cashcow with everymonth new DLC. Overkill is so ORIGINAL that they even copied the Wolf Pack DLC from Payday the Heist to Payday 2.

What i also dislike from Payday 2 is that you have to choose what armor and what gun you gonna use depending on your playstyle (Loud or Stealth). And giving point to Skilltrees to your character. In Payday the Heist beside a silenced handgun doesn’t it matter what armor you take or gun compared to danger meter. There is no Stealth or Loud meter in Payday the Heist. That is the main reason why i like the simplicity from part 1. Not much weapons, but good and challenging enough.

Started to play this game without too much expectations when the game was free for a day, since it has only a limited number of maps. I certainly didn’t expect that this game would be fun even after 1k or even 2k hours. Admittedly this game has lots of flaws, but in part that’s what makes it such a great game. The random elements in the game, spawns, enemy pathing and to a lesser extend the objectives, make the game unpredictable and failure is always around the corner. Unlike some Co-op PvE games out there, you actually have to play tactical and watch your HP (using “shoot and cover”) to complete the heists on the higher difficulties (and for beginners even on the lower ones). Failing to do so will get you punished (although you can get away with it to some extend when playing with a VERY good team) and in all likeliness gets your character killed.

PAYDAY 2

PAYDAY 2

Payday 2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. If the idea of sneaking through a heist and cleaning the place out without anyone knowing you were there appeals to you, then you will likely enjoy this game. If the idea of mercilessly slaughtering any guard or cop that stands between you and your payday, with anything from a comically large spoon to the unrelenting force of a minigun appeals to you, then you will likely enjoy this game. There are a great selection of heists, with often multiple methods to complete the various objectives. This game isn’t just a co-op game and can be just as fun playing solo. For how cheap this game is, I would definitely recommend trying it.

New players may find the different “profiles” and “skill sets,” two different menus to mix-and-match, to be a tad confusing. Otherwise, it is simply a fun game that can get addictive. Game-play aspects can be simple enough to understand, aim and shoot cops while stealing money, while creating builds, and understanding the less-intuitive mechanics like “dodge,” help to also make the game complex. With the continued support by the developers, and funny vr heisters waving their arms everywhere, this game is worth getting.

This game is beautiful. I was immersed every second of it and it gave me the feels.

Playing it with a best friend or someone you’re very close to hits on a whole different level.

It’s one of the best experiences I’ve had so far, it makes me crave more games like this.

If you have a close friend and you’re looking for something to co-play together, this will be a wonderful time for you.

Disclaimer: I was a closed beta tester for this game starting from October 9, 2018-June 18, 2019, so some information might be outdated. No compensation of any sort (other than a beta key) was provided to me.

Updates: I just got off of a shift after a traffic duty mission where I frisked a suspect and found a switchblade. He was arrested shortly after. Was not taking an emergency call, just doing proactive beat work. Also, the plate information for illegally parked vehicles in traffic duty show up on the PDA, but not on the computer. Also received word that others have arrested those with warrants outside of missions and calls.

Quite an entertaining game. There is a ton of repeats with missions which can get a little boring over a longer period of time, but it’s a good thing they have Multiplayer. I’ll state the pro’s and con’s as well as what could/should be added in the future. I will state some things that may confuse people, but I will try and explain them in brackets. This is of course because I am an Officer in real life and I like to point out things that would be obvious to other officers.

Pros:

  • Has a realistic form of Conduct

Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine

Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine

Imagine if old GTA games, Chip’s Challenge, and Oceans 11 all stumbled into a blender owned by a Lego man.

Boy what a mess that would be. Thankfully, Monaco is ‘not’ a mess, but rather, a stealth heist game in which you and up to three other thieves band together to plunder the money of a variety of facilities in and around Monte Carlo, everything ranging from Casinos to Hospitals to High Security Prisons, being represented.

The game’s two virtues are its deceptive level of gameplay depth, and its humorous design aesthetic. It’s the personality hidden behind the neon pixels that at first attracts one to this game–the perplexingly simple yet expressive character designs go along with the frantic piano ragtime and silly french NPC voices, to be extremely memorable. You’ll laugh as your little colorful lego thief pees in a toilet, wiggles their hands to hack a PC hollywood style, or hugs a wall and takes deep, ragged breaths after being shot–to the accompaniment of bloodied footprints left in their step. And as your little Mr. Pink dies from that one guard who peaks just inside your hiding place to bop you with a wrench, they explode into a neon pink colored skeleton, and the music thuds to an abrupt halt–only for the music to pick up again where it left off, once your fellow criminals put your guts back in (to the sound of hilarious squishing noises).

Real player with 2575.5 hrs in game

Probably one of the best co-op (local or online) games out there. The stealth mechanics manage to fit well with the generally arcadey feel, as the guards aren’t super perceptive, so they can be avoided if you’re careful (and sometimes if you aren’t!). Stealth playthroughs, especially in singleplayer, are satisfying and tense. However, Monaco is just as fun when you don’t try to be stealthy, as you can get into crazy and action-filled situations as you’re forced to escape oncoming guards after you trip an alarm or get caught. The AI can be punishing, though, and some enemies, such as shotgun toting Gendarme, are not to be taken lightly. Multiplayer tends to lean towards the more wild approach unless you’re working in a two-man crew or everyone is trying to stay on the down-low. You’re given the pick of (once you unlock all of them) eight thieves, each with their own unique abilities, all of which are useful. This is another reason why the game shines in multiplayer, because each thief can tackle different situations that others would have trouble with. There’s also a good number of equipments which provide the player with some tool that can get help them get the job done, like smoke bombs, shotguns, C4, and EMPs. Monaco has a ton of standard campaign levels with unique settings and good variety, and there’s also hundreds of user-made levels, some of which are almost as good as the standard ones. The level editor itself is fairly easy to use once you understand the basics, and there are a couple of really extensive guides on the community page which can help get you started. It’s also got a sweet noir style piano soundtrack by Austin Wintory, the guy who made the Journey soundtrack.

In It Together

In It Together

In It Together is a puzzle platformer inspired by classic platforming games that makes you complete puzzles with a lot of different mechanics and with varying difficulty. The game has a lot of content with 50 stages in single player, and 50 more stages in co-op. In addition to this there is a Battle mode, which is really fun to play with friends. The Battle mode has 15 more stages, and several different ways to play, so there is a ton of replayability. If you like platforming games with a bit of challenge this is definitely a game i would recommend picking up. If you want to test out the game before purchasing it i would highly recommend downloading the demo as it lets you get a sense of how the game is played.

So I decided to check this game out as it was made by a YouTuber I used to watch when I was younger, it was cheap and it didn’t seem to get much attention. I’m glad I did because this is a legitimately great puzzle platformer game. Your objective is to go into a small level to collect briefcases and gold bars by picking up and throwing objects that will help you get to your objectives. For example throwing plants to break glass. Sounds pretty simple but each level introduces cool new mechanics and things to pick up that expand on the formula in clever ways, but the level design doesn’t waste any time in getting you to grips with them without ever getting overwhelming, so you’re constantly getting those “aha!” moments you want in a puzzle game without being bored by tutorials or being stuck in the same section for too long. I’m only on World 3 of I believe 5 but I don’t see the game getting any worse (I like it enough to review the game now). The levels themselves are fairly short so it’s a great game to pick up for a bit and put down but it also can be pretty addicting to go for another level right after finishing one. The game also has a pretty cool sense of style with its character designs and white outlines over a dark environment.

Mini Thief

Mini Thief

Very fun, spent hours on it already and still keep coming back. For a $3.99 price tag this is much more than I expected. And in early access? This game is my favorite at the moment!

Please don’t listen to the bad reviews complaining about losing items, if you kept everything even after being busted what would be the point or the challenge!?!?

Sometimes I have fun trying to loot and escape with no items navigating houses while setting off multiple alarms. This game is fanastic some bugs still, more so it seems in the multiplayer. But again it’s in early access so you are warned. Right now I am up to the City Bank. A hefty amount of levels for early access, I would be content if this was the cap. But I know we’ll probably see more. Already well worth the money!!

In this game you will assume the role of a thief that is behind on his rent and resorts to doing what he does best; whilst doing this you will be able to purchase equipment to help advance with each level but be warned that if you get caught, you could lose all of your equipment.

I had a great deal of fun with this game and whilst it might not be a long game, one level in particular had me stuck for at least a couple of hours. There are a total of 12 stages that need to be completed 3 times each in order to progress to the next stage. As you can imagine the final round of each stage is the hardest and my prediction is that stage 11 round 3 (The one that took me the most time) will most likely be the one that determines if you will finish the game or not.

Saints Row 2

This is still a great game even when put up current gen stuff. I love it because the voice acting is excellent and it captures the feel of classic GTA3 oh so well. Even though this port has a problem with periodic “random” crashes, it’s still worth playing. Also, you really, really should bother to install the Gentlemen of the Row mod; it is worth the trouble for the quality of life adjustments alone.

I wanted to play this because I loved Saints Row 3 & 4 and Gat out of Hell. I knew it would be different, and more like GTA than the others but I wanted to try it anyway. I’m glad I did. It’s now my second favorite in the series after #4. I am looking forward to playing it again when the “MEGA Patch” is eventually released.

Saints Row 2, man where do i start.. Its a really good game but id recommend something since this thing doesn’t have achievements: cheats, use them all the time and i recommend installing Gentlemen of the row to put modification of the game called ,,Ultor Rising'' where, you are the law and try to stop all the gangs, if your looking for something extra in the ultor rising mod, the nuclear power plant is the place of fun.

But yes Honest review of the base game without mods is a 9/10 for me.

Only issue was frame drops nothing else so yeah very good game.
