Projekt Z

Projekt Z

What is Projekt Z?

Projekt Z is a free-to-play first-person shooter set in a WW2 Zombie scenario on a secret German island. The game focuses around the “Projekt Z”, a project run by the Nazis to turn Zombies, which have been discovered on the island earlier, into weapons to turn the war around in Nazi Germany’s favor. On the Island, you will discover various secret Nazi projects related and unrelated to “Projekt Z”.

Projekt Z Core Gamemode

You have the HUB, you can craft weapons, ammo, and other consumables here. You will also be able to build things inside the hub (similar to Fallout 4’s settlement building). From the hub, you start missions. Missions belong to a story arch and can influence each other, depending on the order in which you do them. An example: a mission where you clear the island’s sewer system will lead to different zombie types appearing in other missions that otherwise were trapped in the sewer system.

Story arcs have a beginning and an end and shall not be stretched indefinitely. After all, the best stories are those that were planned with a definitive end in mind.

During missions, you can find items, building materials (for the hub) and recruit personal for your hub.

Missions can be repeated for gathering more materials/loot.

Projekt Z Wave Survival Mode

The Wave Survival mode has nothing to do with the game’s core mode. In this mode, you have to fight for your life, kill endless waves of zombies and upgrade your weapons on your workbench.

Level up your character in every round with drugs like heroin, alcohol, or cocaine!

Project Terminus VR

Project Terminus VR

By far one of the best VR story games i’ve played. Yes it may be quite optimized to fit with quest limits but it is a very good story so far. Got scared a couple times too. Very immersive with a lot of movement needed which is great. I hope there is more to come to this because i love it. Also just a cheeky promo, streamed my play-through with a friend at twitch.tv/controvr :)

I enjoyed the first hour with a friend then stopped playing to gift the game to another for 3 player co-op. We had a couple of problems with one person being disconnected at random but by the third restart, everything worked great for the next hour and a half. This game has a Phasmophobia type feel to it. There are many items/weapons to store and interact with. Has a great looking horror atmosphere and game elements that come together to create tense moments. You are free to explore wherever you like besides the locked door or puzzle elements keeping you from progressing. Supports up to 4 players Co-op campaign but does not support in game chat at this time. Played on HP Reverb G2 with Knuckles controllers

Arizona Sunshine®

Arizona Sunshine®

A bit rough by modern standards but revolutionary for the time, basically invented many conventions of how VR FPS works. Arizona Sunshine walked so that Boneworks could run. I do miss certain niceties like the backpack introduced by Island 359 and as noted, all the physics shit from Boneworks and Alyx. Gun reloading is especially weird and simplified compared to Alyx or, say, Pavlov. But that’s all just nitpicking the mechanics.

The game itself is entertaining. It has some good moments. The writing is nuclear cringe. None of the jokes land except maybe the one about the cow. Maybe that’s intentional characterization? Maybe the protag is just a dad joke kinda guy. He seems self aware about it once when he says he needs to get better jokes, but actually having better jokes would’ve been preferable.

This game is a amazing vr game to play solo or with friends.

The only big downside to this game is that if you want to play with a friend you both have to have the game on the same platform. For example you either both have to have it on steam or oculus store if one friend has it on oculus but you have it on steam you can’t play together which sucks.

Other than that the game is a 8/10 in my option and it can be scary at points in the story where zombies come running at you.

Too Many Zombies!

Too Many Zombies!

It’s actually quite a lot of fun, even solo. Mix in the ability to add up to three friends on Steam through Steam Remote Play and they don’t even need to buy this game via Remote Play.. and this game seems like a decent value.

It’s got a tutorial, and two modes, survival and campaign.

The controls are good, the campaign stays interesting with new different objects to complete besides just blasting zombies. The crafting and resource collecting add fun and value as well.

Blazing Chrome

Blazing Chrome

Let’s state the obvious - Blazing Chrome is a great game. It’s a good Contra clone and it clearly took inspiration from Contra Hard Corps, but also Shatterhand and maybe a little from Metal Slug. It’s NOT a perfect Contra clone and not ideal run’n’gun game, but it’s great in its own terms. To understand what I have in mind I’ll have to be pretty nitpicky. I’ll go into details why it would or wouldn’t interest you, and while we’re at it, look at it from perspective gaming was 30 years ago. I can’t give straight answer no matter how hard I’m trying to break it, because the game is awesome, yet has some quirks that might make you wanna drop it whether you’re Contra fan, you were born with mouse in your right hand or you like Contra hard, which doesn’t mean much today anyway.

Note: I received a key from the publisher.

My introduction to JoyMasher took place years ago through a game called Oniken. It’s a retro platformer in the style of games from the 8 bit era. Most of the game involves melee combat, but there’s one mission that plays more like Contra. After playing that mission I remember wishing JoyMasher would create an entire run and gun style game. That wish finally came true with the release of Blazing Chrome.

Blazing Chrome is run and gun that draws inspiration from several classic series. In addition to the obvious similarities to Contra, there are close range melee attacks like Metal Slug, and mechs that aren’t unlike Mega Man X’s Ride Armor. Although the influences are easy to see, the end product is a game that feels more like an original creation than an attempt at cloning any of those games. Fans of Oniken will, no doubt, be happy to see that there are several references to it as well.
