Uncraft World

Uncraft World

After seeing Rooster Teeth do a video on this, I bought the first two Uncraft Me! games on the Xbox 360 a couple years ago and found them addictive, despite (or because of) the challenge and the “reward” (wink wink) at the end of each level. So, you could imagine my happiness when I found this game had finally been ported to Steam.

I have found that the game plays easier when using a game controller, like that for the Xbox One. I would not recommend using a keyboard to play this game, or you will find yourself having a much harder time controlling your character, thus causing you to die multiple times, and not beat the level until 20-30 minutes later.

UPDATE: In 2019 I tried to play the game again and saw I was missing 1 skin. Went to the forums to learn where it is unlocked and instead learned that the developers of this game have given up on development. Not in so many words, but that is the long and short of it. So it’s going to be in early access forever.

DO NOT BUY THE GAME.

Ok so after “finishing” the last 2 levels I’m happy to say that I would not recommend this game anymore.

Ok I loved this game before as you can see from my last review. I felt like this game was in not only competeing for the top position in the VR RPG catagory but as over all VR game as well. after this update, it is clearly my favorite! It’s huge! I have spent almost 2.5 hours playing the mountain map and I still haven’t gone down a path or two or fought the boss from the original release! the NPC’s that have been added are great! there is a shop now with weapons and accerssories and potions, and spiders,.. big effing spiders,.. those spider caves man,.. you can hear them scurrying around you from every direction and it’s #creepyAF ! There truley is no other VR RPG that can compete with Karnage right now. It wins in Graphics, sound, gameplay and any other catagory you can come up with. amazing such a small indie team has put together such a fantastic title! Thank you Nordic Trolls! Can’t wait for MORE!!

I’m a gamer from an old-school generation. I remember games loading from cassette tapes. They squealed their loading noises out for minutes until the game was loaded. Patience was a virtue, they say. Good things come to those who wait. Karnage Chronicles is the Golden Axe of VR. I felt a sense of nostalgia at times, whilst revelling in the visceral delight of being in virtual reality. Gather your friends, and begin the Karnage.

The multiplayer action is covered in this review, not the single player experience. The multiplayer is compelling and team work with friendly fire on, of course, adds the enjoyment of the accidental arrow in to the back of the armoured warrior doing notable damage.

Red Alert 3, for the first time in C&C history, featured a full coop campaign for all three factions. The Red Alert Spin-Off of C&C always was my favourite setting and Red Alert 3 didn’t receive the critical acclaim and fanbase it actually deserved. It played exactly like Red Alert 2, which personally is still my all time favourite C&C game right after C&C Generals.

The FMV scenes were cheezy as always and George Takeii did a brilliant job just playing himself in a samurai robe.

I have many fond memores for Red Alert and it still plays marvellous today.

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is The Family Circus by way of Spencer’s Gifts, a game with long, earnest quests about how darn good coffee is punctuated by gore and gun violence. Borderlands 3 walks by dog poop, points at it, and laughs, and then sets it on fire. Borderlands 3 stays up until 11:30 pm drinking soda and googling crass Flash animations, taking detailed notes.

It’s stuck in the late ’00s, when surface level vulgarity was enough to qualify as edgy—Borderlands 3 is seriously obsessed with turds—and when the series was first conceived. It’s stuck in a time when memes lasted months rather than days, when referential humor was still a novelty and not exhausting, when you could point at something the slightest bit abnormal or gross and call it a joke. Simpler times, not necessarily better times.

Let’s talk about the positives first, the graphics as everyone would expect are a lot better, the devs managed to keep the comic/cartoony look of the past games which gave the franchise more character. The combat is faster and more chaotic, the shooting is far better and the mobility of your character is a lot smoother. The guns are better, there is more variety with cooler designs and mechanics.

Now about the negatives, oh man where do I even begin… First big oopsie, I felt that the game doesn’t care about almost any of the loved characters of the previous games. Half of the past characters appear for 1 or 2 hours (or not at all) and the other half that plays a major role are treated with no respect. Like where the fuck is claptrap?! You cant have a borderlands game without Claptrap playing a major role. The second big oopsie is the villains, they are so cringe… literally. I mean ok, everyone knew that it’s hard to compete with Hansome Jack, but these villains are so fking bad, probably the worst villains I have ever witnessed. Their character feels so forced, they tryed to make them cool with all the memes but the execution is so bad. The DLCs are a lot better than the main game and part of the reason is SPOILER the main game villains don’t appear in any of them.

LARA CROFT AND THE TEMPLE OF OSIRIS™

LARA CROFT AND THE TEMPLE OF OSIRIS™

I’ve decided to write my thoughts after seeing a mixed public opinion on it. TL; DR version is at the bottom.

Temple of Osiris is the sequel to the action-adventure / puzzle game “Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light,” which holds an overwhelmingly positive score on the Steam store. Both games are played from an isometric perspective and have a heavy emphasis on solving environmental puzzles with some action-shooting thrown in for good measure. Gameplay-wise, the two are very similar in controls and mechanics, such as the use of the grappling hook or rolling spheres to certain locations to advance. The big difference, however, is that Temple of Osiris can be played with up to 4 players in comparison to Guardian of Light’s two-player experience, and Lara Croft now uses Osiris’s object-altering staff to assist with puzzle-solving instead of Totec’s spear.

Intro

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is an action-adventure game with puzzle elements. Despite the Steam store page saying that it’s a sequel of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, I didn’t find any correlation between both games at all. The only similarity lies in the gameplay, with some improvements on the “sequel”. The game also offers co-op mode, both local and online, for up to four players, but since I finished the game solo, this review will be based on that.
