Haunt Chaser

Haunt Chaser

Short story: BUY THIS GAME!

Longer story:

The game is still in early access at review point, but I wouldn’t have guessed it if I didn’t know it in advance. What I’m saying is that it’s very well made. Not to forget that it’s a small group of developers making such a great game! The game is ideal as a multiplayer game, as there is 4vs1 (chasers vs entity). So if you are like me and love multiplayer games and keep looking for them - this is definitely a game you should give a try.

It does take some time to navigate around and figure out where you’re going and what you are suppose to do, but after a few rounds you should start getting a hang of it and see some possible tactics to use. The first time you open the game you also get a “how to play” telling you about the different abilities as chaser and entity. I suggest reading these, as they’re a huge help in the beginning. I can’t wait to see how the game expands, as it have so much potential both with customising, extra maps and new tasks.

I’m a big fan of Phasmo and have an interest in most co-op horror games (I watched several of them instead of playing tbh) and I have to say I was impressed by Haunt Chaser.

So what is Haunt Chaser?

There is an entity, a player with special powers.

There are puzzles on the map that the 4-person player team needs to solve and get pieces of a doll.

Once they solve 4, they need to burn the doll.

They do the whole thing one more time and the heart of the entity is revealed and the entity can be killed.

Death Squared

Death Squared

I freaking love this game. Writing a review partially because this game deserves an “overwhelmingly positive” and I’d like to help take it there. I’ve played with 4-5 people in the party mode for a dozen or so levels, and done half the main levels so far playin' with my dad. In terms of a puzzle game, yes, does the job, makes you think, then makes you think in a completely different way, very satisfying.

I think what most makes this game stand out for me is the fun in the actual death and failure, especially playing with someone else. Sometimes you get some deaths in just for fun and to see the animation and dialogue…and to annoy your partner, of course….

A simple idea well executed, a funny co-op puzzle experience.

Co-op puzzle

In Death Squared you must cooperatively solve puzzles. Each player has a cube-character that can only move, there is no other function. Each player has to move to their respective endpoint to solve the puzzle. Along the way you have to stand on switches to change the level, dodge lasers tied to one character, stand on each other’s head to serve as bridge, not die, and most importantly not kill the other! This is a typical game to just start playing! Play only co-op though. You can control two characters with a keyboard, so a perfect snuggle game! Although… it will most probably start a fight…

The crew must defend themselves from previously unknown alien races and navigate difficult spatial anomalies but, in the end, will that be enough to get home?

I have 0.8 hours on record as of this review, though I did play the demo a little bit too.

This is a review for the multiplayer. The game just came out, so I don’t know how easy it will be to get matches down the road - but this game is really fun multiplayer.

There’s tons of customization in your bot and pilot loadout, and multiplayer matches are these epic mind games. You might have a shield bot guarding your other bots and have them all huddle behind it, or go with long range attacks, etc. It’s a real mind game and the meta will probably change a lot.

SUPERVERSE

SUPERVERSE

Playing Superverse is really awesome experience.

Whole universe against you, just like old retro games when we were saving world and universe from bad guys, those were good old times. What can one wish for more.

Excellent graphics and fluid gameplay is something that is typical for this game.

Tested on keyboard which can be playable but i recommend with Joypad. It is totally different experience.

Once you get used to controls it becomes very natural and easy to play even versus tougher opponents.

Have you ever played Gate88? How about Chicken Invaders? Imagine Gate88 space mechanics and controls where you are floating and you can power up your weapons in Chicken Invaders style and just enjoy nice space scenery?

SUPERVERSE will give you all that and more. Although it is an early access game, it is offering interesting content. You are a small space vessel and you roam around different universes and upgrade weapons, Chicken Invaders style where more is better, enjoy the scenery and destroy enemy vessels.

There is a lot of thing that I would like to say, so I’ll try to keep it brief.

Here are some question from new players who I’ve heard a lot:

Is the Learning Curve steep?

Yes. It not just a learning curve, but a learning cliff, on fire and covered in bears. It would take quite some time to get used to the mechanics of the game.

The tutorials only teach the absolute basics (e.g. its (proprietary) build mode controls and AI programming). For new players, Only finish the first section of it and go experiments with the designer yourself. Expect some ragey moments at this stage as it will bombard you with an insane amount of content (even with over 1000+ hours, I’m still considered quite new by FtD’s community standards). Fortunately, the FtD community have very experienced people who are ready to help you if any problem arises (as long as you don’t say the game as a whole sucks), so I advise you join the Official FtD Discord server as most activities happen there.
