TLDR: This is a spin-off of Overcooked using a limited amount of abilities on a cooldown. Suicidal kids, high difficulty. Execution feels much sloppier. Waste of a fun concept.

While I honestly appreciated the overall tone and presentation, the game is not very balanced towards solo play. Having children around is even worse than dwarves in dwarf fortress. They will beeline straight into a danger zone, get an exclamation point going and a few seconds later they are dead. There are 6+ of them and you have usually half a dozen of hotspots to comandeer to successfully complete a mission. That means too many spinning plates at once.

I received Think of the Children in the most recent Humble Bundle. I’ve only played it for about an hour with my partner and we’ve had a decent time with it so far. Despite that, there’s absolutely no chance I could recommend this game to anyone who isn’t getting it in aforementioned bundle. Here’s just a few reasons why.

The game is buggy: Controller support randomly stops working in the menus. I then went to my computer, restarted the game without a controller. Half of the prompts were keyboard prompts, the other half controller. The select level screen was stuck as if my controller’s analog stick was stuck, but my controller wasn’t connected.

What The Fork

What The Fork

What The Fork - the best use of forks since dinner - is here! Jump on your forklift and face the new challenges either alone or in a classic couch co-op for up to four players. Let the electric motors roar and hit the forks!

This game is stacked up …

You thought today was a quiet evening when nothing happened? Wrong, because now the dark drones pose a new threat. Visit the different warehouses and show these windy drones how to stack properly.

LOCAL MULTIPLAYER MADNESS

You can choose, work together and reach the high score, battle it out in vs-mode, or just collect boxes in freeplay-mode.

Its the main objective in story mode to collect as many boxes as you can within a three-minute limit in order to reach three golden boxes to unlock further levels. You have to work cooperatively with up to four players to get each box to its designated delivery station efficiently.

DELIVERY TO ALL COUNTRIES

In the warehouse, on the prairie, in old medieval castles and even on dizzyingly high skyscrapers. You stack your load no matter where!

Work your way through 30 colorful stages with increasing levels of difficulty! These stages are grouped into five worlds, Urban, Asia, Scifi, Western, Medieval.

WORKING WITH PROFFESIONALS

No access? No problem! Uses the latest technologies and trends in crate transport. Of course, this also includes springs, assembly lines, and, of course, cannons.

Use these different gameplay elements to navigate your boxes in creative and efficient ways through the different stages in order to beat the clock!

LiaDS is a very cool game. You are on a mission to restore love to the galaxy in your spaceship, with either one player and an AI helper, or local co-op. It has a pretty unique gimmick, in that you must move your characters from station to station in order to control parts of the ship you’re flying. What this means in practice is that most of the time one person will be flying the ship, while the other moves between the guns and the shields defending you. In special circumstances both players will have to man the defenses while the ship idles.

PROS:

  • fantastic gameplay

  • cool boss fights

  • cute art style

  • 4 campaigns (20 levels)

  • nice difficulty variety

  • a roller coaster of emotions

CONS:

  • no online co-op

Comment:

Sometimes a little gem of a game appears and rocks your gaming life. This is one of those games. Charged with flying a space ship against the forces of Anti-love you have up to seven stations to operate. Singleplayer is doable with an AI pet buddy who you assign to which station he should go to. However, the AI cannot fly the ship for you and some boss fights prove more difficult. Still, it is nice to have AI that actually works and you can finish the whole campaign with. Apart from one achievement you can do the entire game solo. But should you? Well … not really. This game is built around playing with another person (or people) and it shows. The intense way this game brings people together means you will both argue and celebrate together. I can recommend it as a team-building game as well. This comes from the fact that no player is useless. Whether it is operating the shields, engines or weapons, it all is needed to ensure victory. This shows especially true in boss fights. Large amount of difficulty settings helps make the game more accessible to new/casual gamers. But at the same time more veteran players can opt for the higher difficulties for an added challenge. Sadly, there is no online multiplayer. While I get the sentiment behind the point of having a real person play next to you (it is incredibly great) it sadly is not an option for everyone. Therefore online play would be more than welcome. Personally I had a HUGE amount of fun playing this game, in solo play, but especially with my wife and her bro. So much fun in fact that I would dare say this is the best co-op game I have ever played. It mixes all the right elements together and creates an experience like no other. If you have a person (or people) who can come over and play with you this is a must-have game!

Boss Defiance - Heroic Edition

Good couch party game, fun to play and to watch.

Graphics are good , gameplay is perfect with multiple gamepads (but you can use a keyboard for multiple players, in case).

Playable with 3+ friends

Kudos to the team for the price tag, recommended

Great party game! I bought it to spend the evening with some friends and we really had fun! The asymmetric concept is very interesting and original, and the Boss/Heroes are well balanced. The pixel art is simple, but beautiful. I recommend it.

The game is definitely worth picking up for group play and I would say is just as fun when playing alone. the controls set for keyboard isn’t really good and playing with controller is way better .

I found high cats a rather fun little game to play. Its a local multiplayer based game for up to 4 players, but can be played solo as well.

The game requires you to catch a tin of tuna that is runnig away from you. You must catch and eat the tuna before it escapes the level. Why are you chasing the tuna? You are high after eating cat nip. Each level consists of different obstacles you must avoid whilst chasing down the tuna. This progressively gets harder the further you advance through the levels.

Mainly writing this because I disagree with what the majority of the negative reviews are saying, as someone who cranked out 40 hours of gameplay (split quite evenly between online and offline play) and who completed games on the hardest difficulty level. While I have ideas on what should contribute to a negative review, which will come later in the review, but let’s start by tackling the points I disagree with in the negative reviews.

I believe RNG gets the majority of the blame because a random event occurs at the beginning of every turn, and at every new planet, so it’s pretty much in your face all the time.

This game has the potential to be very fun. Myself and a few friends brought it and really enjoyed the game initially. But we quickly realised that this game is too hard, and not even hard in way that challenges you properly. We have been playing on mild difficulty, since the upper difficulty was seemingly impossilbe.

The game is hard beyond the player’s control, since much of the game mechanics are the result RNG. 90% of the RNG is bad! You receive negative effects that can see you wiped out very quickly. For example, we upgraded our shields to the max very early on, but in response, we started taking much more damage from RNG events.

Abracadabrew

Abracadabrew

This game is really fun with friends. It’s similar to other games of this genre, but with the added thing that you have to memorize where the ingredients are, so more confusion and more chaos! And there’s a good challenge to get all 3 stars. I wasn’t sure at first, but after few hours played, it’s really good.

Abracadabrew is a very fun little game !

The point is very simple : you have to find ingredients to brew a series of potions in a very messy room. Quite simple in its core, but, as the amount of potions, ingredients and rules increase, you and your friends must find a strategy to be as efficient as possible.

For me, Abracadabrew is much more a game about communication than memory. Finding a way to communicate efficiently with your partner goes a long way into completing the last levels.

As you understand, I think it’s a game better experienced with friends or SO.
