The Last Order: Dungeons

The Last Order: Dungeons

As “Clicker” games go, The Last Order: Dungeons looks excellent! Not only does it look great, but the developers went beyond the graphics to include additional color palettes, excellent scan line options, and even controller support. They also built a progression system into the game and gave you different “outfits” for rewards. I commend the enthusiasm and appreciate the touches that bring more to this simplistic genre.

This overall presentation gives you an idea that there is something substantial to look forward to. It’s kind of like something that drives you to keep playing, in hopes of glimpsing the unexpected from a simple clicker game. Unfortunately, my curiosity for the game fell off a cliff about 20 minutes in, and I never really found out if there was something more beyond Dungeon 1-5. There might have been an increase in the difficulty to blame, but in all honesty, after so many attempts of these mundane runs, I lost interest and didn’t care enough to keep going. I did put my big boy pants on and talked myself into playing about another hour, trying to find out what was on the other side of level 2, but that never happened.

Art is good, music and sound are amazing, much content, not much else to say.

This game has a simple concept, so simple in fact that it is hard to balance it between “So hard that it’s frustrating” and “So easy that it’s boring”. However, after the first patches, they managaed to reach exactly that balance, with level-like challenges, a difficulty setting and a customizable training mode.

Also remember to use your spells! Makes the game both more exciting and easier.

The long-term progression in this game is fucked. Spending days on a run will give you absolutely pitiful rewards and I swear my only options are spending months slowly progressing and purchasing pitiful rewards that won’t help at all, or I would need to play for months without triggering a reset before I would even have a hope of entering the second faction’s prestige room to see what the upgrades there are like.

Let me elaborate a bit: In a few days, I can get between 150 and 200 ashes before things start getting really slow. To get one more ash, I need to multiply my money amount by ten. In order to get a single bonus at this point in the game, I need anywhere from 500-1000 prestige points (barely better than a 1:1 exchange rate with ashes, but saved between resets), and the bonuses I can purchase with those points tend to have effects on the level of “multiply your production or divide ash costs by a factor of 10-100” meaning I get ONE OR TWO additional ashes for EVERY run of the same length. For those to break even, I would need to do hundreds of runs, all of which take multiple days to complete. If I don’t want to rely on this ridiculous system, I could try to get a different faction’s currency up to a certain point, but every subsequent faction has like a third as many producers available, and the exponential nature of the game means it could take weeks to progress a single tier in their factions. I have literally no idea just how long I would have to wait before I could get to a level where I could even find out what rewards are available for purchase to see if the rewards are worth it in the first place.

TLDR: This is a clicker not an idle game, if this game was named “Underworld Clicker” I would give it a thumbs up, but since it is named “Underworld Idle” and it is not an idle game I can’t recommend this game. If you want a very active clicker game then this is for you, if you are looking for an idle game then look elsewhere.

Long version:

I have played this game for a long time now, I wanted to unlock every feature without any forms of cheats and I feel I did so now. At least every feature that is available at the time of this review.

Honestly I love this game. Most people are blasting it for stolen are and what not but its cheap and the devs listen to the community. This game has amazing speed running potential with all of the glitches in it. I find myself coming back for more and I really enjoy the time playing this game. Some of the bugs can get annoying at times but seeing how the devs are actually working on making the game better I would say that they will not be around for long. I do feel like the game needs a tutorial or something to help you understand what you are doing but some people like having to figure that out. With 21 hours in this game I cant recommend this game enough and I feel like this game can really go somewhere in the future.

This game is a zero. I played it and thought it was fun at first. I thought there might be a trick to the “cooking”, but after extensive testing it seems to be random. I thought maybe you could infinitely clear the dungeon and get stronger… But no. Maybe encounter cool and interesting enemies… Also no… Also they STOLE PIXEL ART FROM OTHER GAMES!!! Namely POKEMON. Which is wrong… for a little more info read on.

If you beat the main “BOSS” but don’t save the princess eventually the game will lock you in an inescapable room.

To summerize, if you are someone who goes for something with content and thought then try this out; it’s for literally 50 cents when it’s on sale.

This game’s graphics are higher than the screenshots posted, so don’t be fooled. This version is made for normal desktop resolution so I don’t know why any kid would complain. The design is pretty good for a 2D design, and the effort put in the details in the art were meticulously done and not just randomly copied. Everything to me seems like it has its own cham, the victory screen is cute and pleasant, while the prompt when you lose is unpleasant: as to be desired since this is a game for anyone to play and is meant to be symbolic, hence its accessibility to all ages is a plus.

Purchased for a reduced price of £0.79 so can’t say I’m not happy with the purchase!

In all Senet is captivating and this version acts as a good introduction, it is quite addictive as a casual game.

In way of criticism the game presentation is dated and I get the distinct feeling when moving up the difficulty levels the AI gets ‘luckier’ rather than more tactical. This makes the game short-lived as it soon becomes tiresome knowing the AI will often throw the correct combinations to rapidly progress pieces. Something that rarely happens for the human player!

-Summary

I enjoy this game, there’s not a lot going on to it but it’s still a game which takes a few days in total to almost finish. You take the role of a drug dealer and you have the opportunity to grow marijuana and sell multiple different drugs. You got a variety to choose from. You unlock different areas on the map and upgrade your drug dealers in order to maximise profit and speed up the amount of time it takes to sell the product. You can start a money laundering business in order to produce clean money, as well as a gambling section to buy, sell and unlock different crates which give different rewards which are by chances.

I love the idle genre, and I want to like this game, but there are too many little things wrong with it to recommend it right now. I fundamentally dislike the lootbox mechanic, but even setting that aside, there are some serious flaws for an “idle” game:

1.) Your end game progress is capped by whether you have the DLC (almost every core game feature is level capped, but the cap is higher with DLC). I think the free version would be better advertised as a demo, and you have to pay for the full version (which I have no problem with). Most idle games allow you to pay for faster progress or an early boost, but this is the only game I know of where a free player can’t even approach a paying player in endgame, no matter how much time they invest.
