Arx Fatalis

Arx Fatalis

Highly recommended for those that have played and liked games like Ultima Underworld or Dungeon Master (Legend of Grimrock).

The developers wanted to created Ultima Underworld 3 but were unable to get the license from you know who, which is a shame. With stronger resources this game could have been very special indeed. For an old game (2002), the graphics are pretty good and sound in some instances quite amazing, the game engine has aged well. I played the game of Steam and in Windows 7 and it was more or less playable apart from some memory crashes - I learned to save often using all the save slots - you need to do this too, especially when you move between levels. It is best to play the game without any background noise such as the TV/ music or radio - believe that. Not only will you get immersed in the game world, beautifully crafted by the designers, you won’t miss key information said aloud by your character and then never repeated!

Anyone who has played Dishonored 2 will have trouble believing that the same company that made that game also made this one, a few decades ago, and I mean that in the best of ways (in the best of ways for Arx Fatalis, the comparison doesn’t favor their later projects). And just to be clear, this was the first time I played Arx Fatalis, I had no nostalgia goggles to affect my judgment.

Arx Fatalis is a metroidvania First Person action-oriented RPG, that “can” be played entirely as a First Person Stealth game, similar to the Thief series, but equal focus has been put into its other playstyles. The medieval fantasy world of Arx is an underground network of caverns and tunnels, as the world goes through an apocalyptic winter above-ground. Goblins, Trolls, Humans, sexy Snake Ladies and recently genocided Dwarves call this place their home, and somewhat coexist.

Subway Simulator

Subway Simulator

First of all, I paid for this game. It’s fun, and I WILL continue to play. However, the paid version has annoying glitches. For my first 2 stops, passengers board and alight as they do in the free version. On the third stop, they board and alight only after you press i for the “please stand clear” announcement will platform passengers board. But then, the box showing passengers stops showing passengers. Subsequent stops show people boarding/alighting only after press i, and no on-screen credit for, or information on them. IT SEEMS, however, that if you finish the route then choose Depot, then you will see credit for the passengers that boarded at the stations in question. There are more bugs to discover. I paid, so I just want it to work properly. However, it’s fun, and I play.

The game only acts in subway view. Would like to get help from Steam/ Valve, or someone. there is no manual

to help. I do not like the Discussions. Take a long time to find your problem. Take your money and do not offer any solutions, except to refer you to a third party. Well I bought this game on their advertisement and now I cannot get my money back because they said I have played it for 4 hrs. That 4 hours was spent mostly trying to get the game working. I would not recommend this site to anyone!!

Super Motherload

Super Motherload

Great game!

I feel its even better than the original however, like almost anything, there are downsides.

The multiplayer is local co-op, no option. Thats not too bad, plenty of games function fine local like Magicka and Gauntlet. I feel Super Motherload behaves the same in that aspect, especially with controllers (Plays best with gamepad, Comrade!). The game also seems to lack in content to me but thats remedied by the high replay value. Honestly, thats the only real downside I see and I feel they can easily make it online multiplayer and may even be planning on it.

This game is truly addicting.

A game that is truly addicting is a rarity. Smotherload uses textbook skinner box incremental numbers to keep you playing, but it does it so well and so flawlessly that you barely notice. For once, making those numbers go up is truly fun. It’s FUN.

Too bad it only has a lifespan of about 2 hours, and very little replay value.

Motherload is a pseudo-rogue-like game where you dig down down down and collect ores ores ores in a randomized crust of minerals on Mars. Sell the ores, upgrade your miner, mine more ores, sell more ores, upgrade more parts untill youre strong enough to dig to the core and uncover a conspiracy. It’s great, incremental gameplay with a solid ending.
