EverQuest

EverQuest

Firstly, I’ve been playing Everquest for 14 going on 15 years at this point. The amount of hours that Steam has tracked don’t do me any justice. That being said, Everquest has some serious problems. There was a time when I would have recommended the game and I have recommended the game. That time is past.

Pros:

  • A good community. The community overall is full of nice and helpful people. Yes, there is some people who definitely don’t fit that description but they are few and far between.

  • The game being modeled after tabletop D&D. The fact that somebody can have a max level character with all the best stuff in the game and still miss/have attacks dodged by lower level mobs is hilarious.

This game was good 10 years ago.Now it is junk, crashes, log-in issues, lag, and 15 year old graphics are what its about now. EQ is free to play but with conditions added. Daybreak makes new expansions with consist of 75% old zones that have been upgraded to a higher level and maybe 1 or 2 new ones. Mobs are copy and paste from all other zones so no new ones in a long time. All the special events are old ones that just keep coming back. Once in awhile something interesting will come along but far and few between. So after reading this i cant say any thing good about EQ anymore, theres other free to play games that are a lot better. But the one upside to EQ is that it does have a nice community, people are always willing to offer advice that will help you along.

Palace of Cards

The different card games are very well explained. And you can play for free for a very long time. Thumbs up.

But then…

Their prices are downright ridiculous and outrageous. Just for professional players.

RuneScape ®

RuneScape ®

14,480 hours as of writing this review. Proof

The game is definitely not the same as many people remember it. The game has evolved to be more up to date as compared to other MMO’s out there while keeping it’s charm. I’ve had many friends and memories on this game and for that i thank Jagex.

There is a bit of everything for everyone. lets start with skills.

Skills

There is a lot of skills to choose from and they are divided into 4 categories.

Introduction

I have been playing Runescape for a total of 10.000+ hours for the last 10 years. This game is really enjoyable and has so much to offer! Very different from other MMORPG games. Now lets get on with the review.

Runescape

is a game made by the company Jagex. Runescape has been around since 2001. That version is now called Runescape Classic. That version is not available anymore. Runescape can be played in two versions, Runescape 3 and Old School Runescape. I will introduce OSRS in this review aswell. Both games have a very stable and high player base. This version of the game is Runescape 3. I personally play both games because they are very different from each other and offer different content such as bosses and raids. Both games are really enjoyable. This review is made about Runescape 3.

EverQuest II

EverQuest II

I’ve been playing everquest 2 since 2011.

If I could rate the game out of 10 it would be 6. I love Everquest 2 very dearly, it will always be in my heart. Everytime I try to find a different game to play I always come back to Everqeust 2. There are a lot of good and bad things about the game. I gave a 6/10 because there are many issues with Everquest 2 that need to be addressed by the devs and haven’t been. I cannot ignore that despite my deep love for this classic game.

Some of the bad stuff;

Ah Everquest, my first true MMO love; even tho I was a consistent Ultima Online player until 1999 when EQ graced my screen. The EQ universe was my home for the next 6 years, shared only with what I consider another great MMO, Dark Age of Camelot. It wasn’t until 2005 and I peeled myself away from those games to embark on a new journey in Everquest 2.

I will admit, the first couple of years were very hard on EQ2. The steep computer requirements, the very hard game-play and the rise of a much lighter MMO in World of Warcraft created a challenging future for Everquest 2. Yet, the game persisted; made changes and continued to grow its content until now; it is probably of the largest if not the biggest MMO (content wise) out there today.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever stopped playing this game.

Look at my hours.

JUST LOOK AT THEM.

All of my friends are concerned and confused.

It’s taken months for any of them to work up the nerve to even ask me what this game is.

“It… must be very good." they all say.

WELL, IT ISN’T.

THIS GAME IS MEDIOCRE AT BEST.

BUT… I CAN’T STOP PLAYING IT.

Y e s.

I highly recommend this game.

*IF you expect deep insight into the game don’t bother, I’m not sure as far as spoilers go in games without stories but minor spoilers included (probably)

Well first of all I was motivated to write this review(my first) by a promise of 5 mushrooms (in game currency)… (although it did say rate, so maybe I’m mistaken, think I got the mushroms though so I’ll be a good sport and write something) edit here I would like to say that 5 in game currency is not much and the review is not positive because of this, it is positive because i really like this game hence the 55h+ game time*

Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape

I have played this very addicting Java based medieval fantasy point-‘n’-click RNG-simulator (Old School RuneScape) since its launch in 2013 - to this date, I have 4,600+ hours of total time played clocked in. Unlike many others, I do not have any alt accounts (yet) - and yet I’m still not even maxed. Total level 2100/2277.

“OSRS” is a copy of RuneScape from August 2007 (in other words; legacy version of RuneScape) (with game updates until that date; meaning no Evolution of Combat, no trade limit (free trade) or the removal of the wilderness) - but the game hasn’t stayed all the same in the past eight years.

Real player with 1327.7 hrs in game

There isn’t any other game quite like OSRS. It is an open-world retro MMO with many skills to level, bosses to fight, and quests to complete. It is fairly simple in its controls and most of its mechanics, but it can still offer challenging and complex gameplay. There is no central storyline to complete in favor of smaller quests to build the world, focusing more on story and puzzles than just running around and killing stuff. The game has a lot of content to explore and what you go for is really up to what you want to do.

NEW UPDATE: See below

Yes, I still play this game on occasion. I left a review because the developer of this game was trying to quell dissent like a tinpot dictator in the FoF forums.

Update: On March 30th, Rebel_Y attempted to censor this review by flagging it as “Abusive”.

https://i.imgur.com/zntx2OE.jpg

After evaluation by a Steam moderator, this review was deemed compliant with current guidelines.

No content was found abusive.

I have never seen a single developer, in the face of overwhelming consensus, go to such lengths in order to suppress a thoughtful, measured evaluation of their game just because it espouses a point of view with which they happen to disagree.

Why you should play this game,

(You may think that i only have 57 hours, but i have multiple sub-accounts)

Simple answer is, it’s the best cowboy game ever made

1.It’s in source engine, believe it or not, source engine is probably the best engine for crappy computers and have great performance

2.Free to play, No leveling system, no level rewards, no micro transactions, You get everything when you install the game

3. Scoring system, The harder it is to kill someone, the more score you get. For example. Kicking a person off the cliff rewards you 15 Points, killing someone with a one hit kill and overpowered revolver gives you 4 points

TOXIKK™

TOXIKK™

A modern successor to Unreal Tournament 2004 / UT3. TOXIKK delivers that adrenaline pumping arena shooter gameplay you remember with beautiful graphics, familiar weapon and level design, and butter smooth performance.

I’ve played Quake Champions and I think the character abilities change the core mechanics too much, so it didn’t scratch the Arena itch I needed. TOXIKK on the other hand feels just like an Unreal Tournament game.

Unfortunately there aren’t many people playing this game, and unless you’re on during peak hours, you’ll be playing a lot of autofilled matches with bots. Personally I didn’t mind this, because I’m nostalgic for bot matches in UT and Quake 3, but mostly I don’t mind it because I suck and the bots make me feel like I’m way better at the game than I actually am.

Real player with 148.1 hrs in game

First of all: Toxikk is in an early state currently. The first Early Access build has been released about a day ago and the developers included one single map only - on purpose. This is because they focus on basic gameplay and weapon balancing at the moment, which will be done based on community feedback. However, new content will be released every 2-4 weeks. Reakktor have posted a detailed release plan on the official forums, which can be found here:
