Resident Evil 4
This is a genuine masterpiece.
I’ve been playing this game for 175 hrs on my PC and at least 300 hrs on my PlayStation 4, and I’ve completed Leon’s and Ada’s stories for at least 20 times, but I’m still not tired of it.
This game has been released for approximately 20 years meaning it’s quite an old game. Therefore, some glitches would pop up occasionally, and it looks inferior to many games which are produced within the last decade.
In a word, Resident Evil 4 is a legend, at least to me, based on the era it was created.

One of my new favorite games, such a satisfying experience to play through, and replay a few more times to master, find everything, and become as efficient with your resources as you can.
The first third of the game is such a fun, atmospheric journey, slowly navigating your way through the village, finding new items and searching for hidden treasures, managing your resources and sorting your inventory into order. Second third, while losing a lot of the atmosphere and intrigue of exploring, is still very fun, even if it’s a bit more action focused. The last third, or maybe more like last quarter… that’s when the game starts to lose me unfortunately, it loses pretty much everything I loved about the game up to that point, but it does not detract from my love for the rest of the game overall.

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition
The narrative of this game is absolutely frightening. When I first played it some years ago, I was blown away by the attention to detail and twists and turns of the story. When I replayed it more recently, I instead felt that I was looking out my bedroom window, as though the writers had seen the future. I don’t know where Warren Spector is hiding his time machine, but I’d love to have a chat with him about it.
As for the game itself: if you’re willing to deal with some truly awful gunplay and some questionable controls, this is easily one of the greatest games ever made. It’s extremely difficult for me to describe the amazing feeling that comes from playing a good immersive sim; being able to hack specific ATM accounts because you read someone’s personal notes, reading newspaper articles that describe and flesh out the world just like a good book, the choices you have when it comes to conversations and interactions with both main characters and side characters; it all feels so real. I’ve truly never felt anything like it. I realize how cheesy that sounds, but I simply don’t have the talent for putting into words how incredible this game is underneath the dated exterior.

Arx Fatalis
Highly recommended for those that have played and liked games like Ultima Underworld or Dungeon Master (Legend of Grimrock).
The developers wanted to created Ultima Underworld 3 but were unable to get the license from you know who, which is a shame. With stronger resources this game could have been very special indeed. For an old game (2002), the graphics are pretty good and sound in some instances quite amazing, the game engine has aged well. I played the game of Steam and in Windows 7 and it was more or less playable apart from some memory crashes - I learned to save often using all the save slots - you need to do this too, especially when you move between levels. It is best to play the game without any background noise such as the TV/ music or radio - believe that. Not only will you get immersed in the game world, beautifully crafted by the designers, you won’t miss key information said aloud by your character and then never repeated!

Anyone who has played Dishonored 2 will have trouble believing that the same company that made that game also made this one, a few decades ago, and I mean that in the best of ways (in the best of ways for Arx Fatalis, the comparison doesn’t favor their later projects). And just to be clear, this was the first time I played Arx Fatalis, I had no nostalgia goggles to affect my judgment.
Arx Fatalis is a metroidvania First Person action-oriented RPG, that “can” be played entirely as a First Person Stealth game, similar to the Thief series, but equal focus has been put into its other playstyles. The medieval fantasy world of Arx is an underground network of caverns and tunnels, as the world goes through an apocalyptic winter above-ground. Goblins, Trolls, Humans, sexy Snake Ladies and recently genocided Dwarves call this place their home, and somewhat coexist.

System Shock 2
The cult classic sci-fi horror FPS-RPG has returned.
System Shock 2 is an interesting game to review in 2014. When it first came out in 1999, it was met with a lot of praise from the gaming press, winning over a dozen awards, including several “Game of the Year” titles, and since then it has appeared on several “Greatest Games of All Time” lists. However despite the praise, not many people actually bought and played it.
It feels like System Shock 2 has been granted a second chance though. The success Irrational Games has had with BioShock and BioShock: Infinite has interested people enough to want to check out System Shock 2, which was the first game Irrational created. This is great news, because while you might not expect it, I feel that System Shock 2 is the best of all the “Shock” games. It makes you realize that for all of the steps forward we have taken in terms of technology, in a lot of ways modern gameplay has taken a few steps backwards.

System Shock 2 is a first-person science-fiction exploration-based action-adventure horror game with RPG mechanics developed by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios using the Dark Engine. Taking place after the first System Shock, the player-character awakes aboard the “Von Braun”, an empty starship devastated by a biological mass commanding an egregoric hive mind.
Whereas System Shock 1’s intimidating, obscure control scheme and sheer age would unappealingly cling to it as the years went on, its sequel’s reputation is of a kinder, more accessible game for modern audiences. System Shock 2 is often played as a standalone title, which its story and presentation gracefully allows, and historically this is often viewed as the preferable option. Yet in a number of significant ways, System Shock 2 can be as esoteric and uninviting as its predecessor. The start of the campaign, for instance, is marked by a pronounced learning curve, albeit mitigated by a tutorial, and there’s an unflattering chunkiness to the visuals, intensified by jerky, stretchy 3D animations. Oftentimes the presentation requires the player to mentally fill in the gaps themselves, projecting detail and significance where there is none. Much of the gameplay’s mechanics are abstrusely informed to the player, requiring uncomfortable guesswork or guide-consulting. Before even beginning the adventure, for instance, the player is forced to choose between multiple progressive tiers of precious skill points before knowing any details about what they do. In-game, multi-part objectives are often dumped onto the player all at once and out of order, creating an alienating sense of halted progression. This isn’t to say the comparison to System Shock 1 is unfounded. On multiple levels, System Shock 2 actively strives to be more inviting, understandable and instructive than its precursor. In other ways, the sheer gap of time and innovation between the two titles solidifies it as having more modern sensibilities. Unmissable tools exist to helpfully identify collected items, and there’s no shortage of exposition to elucidate details of the environment. An objectives tracker mercifully updates itself, keeping the player up-to-date on what they still need to do. The music and sound design are of a standard which is more refined, effective and deliberate than the first game’s implementation of the same, and the progression of the story is more carefully directed than would be achieved in any first-person action games from the prior title’s era. And it goes without saying that the control scheme supports mouselook for aiming and shooting, aiming generally to put the player’s attention on the gameworld itself, rather than the HUD.

School Owner
Very excited about this game, but unfortunately, it’s not ready for Early Release. There is a lot of potential and the concept, to my knowledge, hasn’t been seen in a very long time. The objects and modeling looks like they were rushed but also looks like they will be more polished as development continues. Looking forward to updates.

8-20-20 EDIT: this is better/worst then before. i got pretty far and decided to save and come back later the same day. all of my teachers and staff was gone. i tried to load it one more time, and my entire school was gone. then i closed the game reopened the game, and there was no save game data….. this is still not able to be played, and still a very bad game…. I would love for this to work correctly
when is this game even going to be playable. this is a very bad Development. I wish i could refund this crap.

The Corporate Machine
The first thing I need to say is READ THE MANUAL! If you’re like me and tend to play a casual game or two to get the hang of things it’s very easy to have no idea what you are doing and lose the game. A quick skiim of the manual will give you an idea of what is what and how the game runs.
I very nearly wrote a bad review after my first game after giving up in just five minutes, I hadn’t read the manual and had no clue what I was doing.
The graphics and sound options on the game are not great, basic graphics and no volume control are something of a turn-off, but you can do what I did and turn off the game’s music and ignore the graphiocs quality.

I got this with stardock legends pack, so it was so cheap. It works on my win 10, and I don’t update it unless it asks me so it works perfectly on win10. First with the cons, the training isn’t working as it shows when you press f2 ( it’s been showed in help, f1) so I played a game at beginner than “difficult in pain”. After few lose I managed to own the world. So there should be some ways to endure the others. Ok you will say me to use cards and lucki but cards require too much resources for a losing company. Maybe I’m telling this because MOBA games and their competitive game strategy is popular now, however, I still think there should be balance. Also I wish to have suggestions to continue after 55% global market sharings. Or there would be other choices such as technology winnig. And pros, if you like this kind of games you will like it. You really need to control market, demand and sellings should be balanced very well, otherwise you lose. I really liked it. I wish ppl upgraded it till now, but this gem also lost itself in the marketing :/

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is slavjank at its finest. While the game has aged relatively well, one must still keep in mind that this is a game produced with shoestring budget and had a somewhat troubled development cycle. The caveats in mind, STALKER is an excellent semi-open world shooty-survival-y romp with a decent story to it. The story is told through a few cutscenes, but mostly through either someone radioning you and telling something has happened, or through a dialog box before or after a mission.

Honestly an absolute legend all around, theres always things you’ve missed or hidden spots you havent experienced after you’ve played the game leagues of times, and the lore only goes deeper from here. One of my favorite games of all time, and the beginning to a legendary series.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
Now, Part 2 of the revisions. To recap after the 1st stalker game revision….this is based on the vanilla experience.
Ah, the prequel. Also, the game that the stalker community thought was forgettable. Me? I personally LOVED this game. Sure, it’s missing a few things….namely hunger, and an all-around creepiness with some of the environments. But to counter, this game introduced some features that proved to be worthwhile; for instance, the weapon and armor upgrades and repair. Do the weapons and armor still degrade? Yes, but now you can enhance them with more armor plates, flex the durability, and even add protection against anomalies. It’s needed because if you ask me, this is the hardest of the 3 stalker games. Just as is with the first game, once you get to a certain point, there’s no turning back. So, be prepared for ANY situation again.

This classic game works great in Linux with using a proton 3.16 but you have to make some tweaks to fix fullscreen/window issues:
1. set launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% in game’s properties
2. launch protontricks 20510 vd=1920x1080 windowmanagerdecorated=n windowmanagermanaged=n with your screen resolution to place the game in special borderless window
Game is good, it has a good story, but there are many unresolved bugs:
- to fix bug with USB flash drive I was obliged to unpack game’s resources and manually edit a script to add quest item into the inventory. This is the shame for devs! howto

Barn Finders
I do recommend the main game, just not the DLC at this point (Sep 22, 2021) since it is pretty buggy.
(They did releases an update 12 Aug 2021 though but not everything is fixed)
The main game is not perfect, but it is fun, IMHO. I enjoy the auctions, and the selling, tending the place. I’ve been playing recently but in total I have about 62 hours of game play. I try to always haggle to make more but you’ve gotta be quick with the button.
It shows icons for who is at your homestead during sales (top left) and I’ve seen a glitch with it but usually it’s accurate. You can move things from one shelf to another if one empties and the other has a few more things. You can customize the place and truck (but make sure you can afford it. I’ve saved most of that for when I’d already had enough for the trips and auctions) I still have things I can change :)

Many people already claim that simulators has become an exhausted genre of games. I do not think so… and Playway, the ultimate simulator king, has a different opinion as well. In their newest title, Barn Finders, you take the role of a redneck shopkeeper who, along with Uncle Billy, runs a store selling antiquities (or old junk, depends on the point of view). In the game, you scavenge through old (surprise, surprise) barns or similar locations, participate in auctions, bid wars, or even meet aliens. Combine it with cheesy (yet witty) humor, and you have a perfect game for long and casual evenings.

Diggles: The Myth of Fenris
Very surprised Diggles/Wiggles has appeared on Steam, but VERY happy it did!
This is an unique game; nothing really compares to it then (20 years ago), and since then no game has been published (to my knowledge) that comes even close to it. So i almost immediatly bought it (again).
Didnt play Wiggles for years as the original sadly wasnt compatible with ‘newer’ Windows-version. (Could play the official Demo a bit longer though.)
Although graphics is a bit outdated and gameplay is quite slow, the game concept is so good, it was and still is the best game i ever played.

WTF!?! Who’s feet do I have to kiss for finally bringing this game to Steam!! If you ever played and enjoyed, Oxygen not Included, and the new early access game, Hammerington, then you will like this game as well. I even purchased those aforementioned games in the hopes to fill the hole this game left in me decades ago. While a bit dated on graphics (released in 2002), the game still has its same charm and is still very playable. By the end of the game, your dwarves will be riding around on hover boards, and brandishing light sabers. How can you go wrong with that? Thank you
