Zork Anthology

Zork Anthology

If you’re looking for a real challenge in gaming, ZORK is it.

We’re all accustomed to seeing the setting, or having map markers leading the way, or straight forward Skyrim Dungeons, while ZORK is a cryptic puzzle of a dungeon not meant to be easy, or quick. You are given a detailed backstory on the lands you are adventuring, and a basic instruction manual describing how game play works, and that is all. No maps, no signs, no help menu, nothing. It’s up to you to figure out the layout, to figure out how to get where, how to defeat enemies, how to solve puzzles, and only using the text given in game, and the commands you input at the prompt, and eventual get all the treasure and points in as few moves as possible. It is super hard, and super fun.

**West of house

You are standing west of a white house with a boarded front door.

There is a mailbox here.

Back in the early 1980s, graphics were primitive. The best story telling was just that – good writing allowed you to imagine fantasy worlds of fire-breathing dragons, evil trolls, glowing magic swords with mystical runes… and computers that someday will have ONE FREAKING MEGABYTE OF RAM! This is an anthology of several text adventures, and the early works of incorporating a graphical info display to go along with the text. The Zork series are like a tongue-in-cheek fantasy RPG, and Planetfall is SF. You type in text commands to interact with the game world, and get a description of what happens. Think of these as novels as compared with modern First Person games which are more like Pixar movies.

Impossible Quest

Impossible Quest

This is a simplistic text-based game. The game offers four different stories. Each story has various endings that you can unlock. I do like that the game has a setting to delete the save file, although I’m not sure how much of a replay value this game might have (unless someone else in your house would like to play the game).

The biggest issue I had with the game is that there was quite a bit of grammatical errors. Some of the sentences needed a bit of work, not to mention some words were either misspelled or missing a letter. I didn’t see many bugs in the game, but the one I did spot had me going through a loop. It would make the biggest difference if the devs double checked the entire game for errors!

I must admit that I thought “Dull!” after the first few seconds of watching the trailer video. Then I saw that the game has more to offer than just clicking text boxes, like ‘Racing’; I ended up buying this game, which I didn’t regret: the game is inspired by the Impossible Quiz (series), has a lot of fine humour and at least knows some (great) references to

! (my favourite) series Lost: 4-8-15-16-23-42 ((un)lucky numbers), dynamite, which was found on the Black Rock (boat) etc. and HP and the Philosopher’s Stone; Chessboard Chamber ;-) It’s a Memory Game (remember what you chose towards an ending!), it’s fun and challenging; it also requires some out-of-the-box thinking if you want to make it to at least the most endings. Speaking of which, I considered a few endings unfair, especially because I’m not Russian.

EPIC. SERIOUSLY. My review is quite late, but if your wondering to buy this, buy it. The storyline at the end all connects and just clicks, it’s got amazing graphics that it can even run on a windows 10 without any problems. The only problem i see with this is that.. its quite short. I complete this game almost in 3 days and i already have 80 achievements. I still enjoyed playing through this game, its really amazing but sad, because this is going to be the last henry stickmin game. I find this also really useful for showcases because its got all the games in one, so you dont have to go onto newgrounds or something like that to find the actual games, they are all there. And the amounts of bios is INSANE. I cannot collect all of them in completing the mission and i only have like 208. I definately recommend this to any youtubers out there, this game is still popular and might give your channel some potential, JUST IN CASE theres gonna secretly be more… So, small youtubers, you can try to grow your channel a little bit with this game! This game also contains alot of references to diffrent games, and actually contains HUMOR. I sometimes actually chuckled on these fails, they are hillarious. 9.9/10 game, its a little bit short, but amazing. Would recommend this game to anyone.

! i had to get a mouse for this game to right click the bios

To be fair, the game itself is short. And yes, you can essentially “experience” the whole thing on a youtube video. But the amount of dedication and time made into making hilarious situations and parts to trick the player are so funny and entertaining to see. The developer obviously poured their hearts to make this masterpiece, so I would recommend getting it to support them and be tricked by options that make absolutely 0 sense.

Angels of Death Episode.Eddie

Angels of Death Episode.Eddie

It may not be a long game, but it is a good one. If you played Angels of Death and felt like you wanted to know more about B4’s floor master Edward Mason, then you will not be disappointed. Unlike Angels of Death, this game does not include puzzles and the only choice you have to make is at the very beginning of the game. This game relates more to a movie than it does a video game in the sense that it is all about the story as opposed to being about the game play. If you have not played Angels of Death, then I encourage you to do so before playing this. Even though the events of this game occur prior to the events in Angels of Death, this game will make a lot more sense than if you play Angels of Death first. For $6.99, I am not disappointed, however, it is worth pointing out again that this game is not very long especially in comparison to Angels of Death.

In contrast to the first game, the main titel, Episode. Eddie is rather poorly written, resting on a lot of melodrama and overused character clichés. Everyone is either angry, overly sad while their entire character is solely based on their tragic backstory. The game WANTS you to feel sorry for the characters, which fits with the character of Eddie, but makes the rest of the cast and the flow of events rather predictable. Eddie also constantly talks into nothingness, explaining events and motivation to the player, rather than showing anything. Those moments literally happen on a black screen with text.
