Battle Realms: Zen Edition

Battle Realms: Zen Edition

Ah, Battle Realms… How long had I been waiting for you to return? The time has come at last. Of course I’ve got an ode to this game prepared for this very special occasion.

A grievously underestimated RTS, a hidden gem! If you ever came across it, you struck gold right there… knowingly or unknowingly… Raw gold… like… a big nugget, a li’l rough around the edges, but nonetheless shiny and valuable… :)

I had been playing this game competitively (Gamespy/GameRanger) for almost 10 years, long before its arrival on Steam. It truly shines when you play against smart players who come up with all kinds of tactics. My advice for every player would be to try getting into the multiplayer aspect of this game.

This game is the underdog since it release close to war craft 3. As a fan of RTS, I say this is NOT an entry RTS, but it is VERY unique in a sense that only seasoned RTS fans can appreciate (more so if you are a fan of Total War). Overall a solid 8/10, recommend if you like RTS and wants something familiar but creatively different.

SULVER’S JOURNEY

SULVER’S JOURNEY

Sulver’s Journey is a fantasy adventure series that follows the warrior Sulver as he searches planet Maroth to collect 6 Divine Stones and 6 Galactic Crystals and keep them out of the clutches of the space conqueror Genesis. However, Genesis has acquired one of these 6 Galactic Crystals, which is known as the Planetary Crystal.

Genesis has shattered the Planetary Crystal into 8 shards and scattered them across planet Maroth. Genesis gives Sulver a chance to join him and his cause to try and use the crystals and stones to usher in a Genesis envisioned utopian era with Genesis as the ruler. Collect all 8 shards, open the Lost Dimension and stop Genesis from using a duplicate Planetary Crystal to transform planet Maroth into the Lost Dimension.

  • Upgrade Sulver with a wide array of enhancements, bought through Rutho’s Shop.

  • Collect 8 special weapons, all with 3 levels of upgrades!

Central City: Sulver’s home base and location for Rutho’s and Dot’s shops and Doctor Birtton’s Labboratory

Razor’s Field: The field that provides access to Mount Oro, The Wizardly Woods, Mount Oro, Poseidon’s Bay and the Ancient Ruins. The Hawk watches over the field. Watch out for Hunter Razer patrolling the field as well and try to find the aura boots. They will help you dash through Razer’s Field.

The Wizardly Woods: A mysterious and dark wooded area inhabited by the Elders and a group of sorcerers, as well as other spirits. The Dark Wizard Cloak haunts these woods and must be stopped by locating Sapphire’s Wand.

Mount Oro: The ice ninja Borge awaits at the top of the mountain for a much anticipated battle with Sulver. Try not to get blown off the mountain or get buried under any forced avalanches. Find the ice gauntlet to help you scale Mount Oro.

Poseidon’s Bay: Sharkoid has taken charge of Poseidon’s Palace. The Divine Hammer will help fight off Sharkoids army but make sure you have your special breathing item from Rutho’s shop before taking the plunge into the bay.

Pharaoh’s Desert: The ancient long thought dead king of the pharaoh’s, Rahma Dao, is still alive and rules with an iron fist. No one is allowed to enter the deepest part of the desert. Find the Eternal Blade and battle Rahma Dao.

Future City: Ledges, traps, surprise enemies, a space shuttle and the maniacal Doctor Iron await Sulver in the Future City. The Galactic Energy Beam will help Sulver navigate past some of the more dangerous enemies. But Sulver has to find it first.

Blazing Canyon: Make sure you have purchased your heat resistant armor and found your damage reducing armor before entering the Blazing Canyon. Waves of fire, intense heat, fiery enemies and the ancient dragon warrior known as Blaze, all plan on stopping Sulver’s journey once and for all. The Raging Ax will aid in Sulver’s mission to subdue Blaze.

Ancient Ruins: The homeland of the ancient warriors that possessed the power of Sulver. The dark souls and dark energy of all living beings hover over the Ancient Ruins which energies enemies and creates craters and constantly shifting platforms. The Ring of Destiny will help Sulver maintain balance and hep him do battle with his evil counterpart.

The Lost Dimension: Genesis’s domain. Fight your way through Genesis’s Village, Genesis’s Dungeon and Genesis' Fortress. Take down the Dark Hunter, stop Trivoid and finally foil Genesis’s plan to use the planetary crystal to transform the Planet of Maroth into a land filled with the dark and unstable energy of the Lost Dimension.

    Includes BONUS levels and mini-games!

Bonus Areas consist of: Sorcerer’s Summit, Savage Falls, Stone Village, Sapphire’s Castle and the Future City Race area.

If you are a fan of the Mega Man X series you will love Sulver’s Journey. Sulver will feature a series of fun weapons and classic upgrades throughout the game.

Not a bad concept for a city builder.

I’m enjoying it so far.

I will say tho.

The buildings need an area of effect highlight when positioning them.

Buildings can have a positive or negative effect on housing development.

Some have a blanket effect, others the effect is over multiple rings, or in the case like the Markets they need to be within range of functioning storeage buildings to be active themselves.

This isnt a bad thing but as the Market description implies, it both boosts and reduces housing while needing to be within range of buildings that reduce housing development. Neither effect is displayed so theres no ideal way of knowing if the storage is within range of the markets while being out of range of the housing.

I downloaded this because it’s getting harder and harder to find a good City Builder now a days. they are all becoming apps with pay to win, and they either focus all on economy, or all on combat and pvp. sometimes you just want to play alone, and not have to fork out money to make the play smooth. Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of empires, Ceasar, and a few others were great for this, it’s a dying breed of game it feels like for me.

anywho, I saw this ans was super excited. I played it immediatly. about 6 hours into my play time I ran into a few road blocks. some things weren’t working properly, and they littlerally haulted game progression. (example, being able to appease Ceaser’s requests was broken) among a few other things like crashes, and games not saving.

Great game but needs a few things that might and might not make the game better but just before I say them it’s a great shooter I love the retro style I really wish most games that are being made could have an option or be set to retro automatically and you can’t change it

The list

  1. Multiplayer) any good game needs multiplayer

  2. savegame option) I would really like to save my game (this might be added without me saying it)

  3. ther is nothing else lol that’s all I can think of atm solid game

The absolute bare bones of an experience are here.

The shooting is alright. There are “power-up” weapons with limited ammo you pick up. They are okay, maybe even kinda cool. The movement feels slow, but that’s mostly an issue when you are running around cleared rooms etc. During combat it works.

As you clear rooms, more enemies start appearing. A bit too many actually. You can get into a situation where there is a horde after you and unless you get lucky with a weapon drop, you’re going to take a hit (because you can’t kill them fast enough and there is no way to kite them).

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

Serious Sam is the best first-person shooter to ever grace this planet. Why?

Unlike Doom, there’s no stupid complicated mazes.

Unlike Duke Nukem 3D, there’s no goddamn keycard hunts.

Unlike Quake, there’s more colors than brown, black, and gray.

Unlike Unreal, there’s no dumb enemy placements.

Unlike Half-Life, there’s great music playing all the time.

Unlike System Shock 2, there’s no needlessly complex interface.

Unlike Call of Duty, your guns are all unique.

Unlike Battlefield, there’s no dumb realism that slows the game down.

**This review was written for 1.01, future patches may (but will hopefully) remedy the problems listed here.

Due to a character limit, the map-by-map bright island sections have been cut from this steam review, you can read them over on the full review here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tTJAdl7j-TJO8KsECwI1FmSWq_Z3RPVTWn3rE3-AwUA/edit?usp=sharing **

So it has finally come down to this: a day I had not seen coming.

Revolution is finally out of Early Access, or so we thought.

I’ve been playing it with my knowledgeable old timer friends, and we all agree this is just mediocre. The best way I can describe Bright Island is as the 2nd coming of Dark Island.

Arakion: Book One

Arakion: Book One

The game takes the old dungeon crawlers features and takes new mechanics from others games like minecraft or fornite (weapon crafting, town building). Combat is challenging especially in hard dificulty, but if you want to enjoy more from crafting and exploration, or if you are new in this kind of games I recommend you the easy mode. Some features are in developing yet, is an Early Access, but is not a problem for enjoy the adventure (are only aesthetic things in character creation menu).

Character progression its like Final Fantasy X (you have some branches and need shards for increase your stats or learn new skills). You need to craft your own weapons, armor, camp… to progress in the adventure.

Honestly I’m really enjoying the game, its difficult on legend/ironman mode. Loving the crafting, but the stamina in combat kinda irritates me, feels like I spend more time dancing so I dont get beaten to death, while i’m waiting for my stamina to regen. Then I lose out on the bonus xp for moving, at least im guessing thats what the multiplier bar is when you are in combat. The game is amazing in so many ways, but when I keep falling through the ground and either dying or getting stuck, then having to use Mr.Maker, and sac 30% of my shards. it’s pissing me off. If you can get by falling and losing shards at random, or having the permanent debuff that you called upon Mr.Maker. Then buy this, you won’t regret it. If not, wait till its out of early access.

Kid Baby: Starchild

Kid Baby: Starchild

I really liked the look of this game and after a long time of having many platform games released that have been any good but the bad first.

1. The difficultness ramps up very quick indeed and in fact on world 1-4 it is very unforgiving and you find yourself re doing certain parts over and over again to the point of getting fed up as you get put so far back in the game.

2. If you lose all your lives in a level no matter how far in you are you end up right back at the start of the level and have to go through it all again maybe an option to continue would be good here.

Real player with 4.2 hrs in game

The groundwork here is remarkable! This is a very well made and fast paced platforming action game that doesn’t do the hand-holding you’re used to with some really clever ideas. It’s a bit too unforgiving in places where a single misstep throws you back quite far or bonus stages that are lost until repeating the whole level but it’s exciting and the colorful graphics look amazing. Performance is great too.

Good Night, Knight

Good Night, Knight

At $15, this game is an excellent alpha title. I’d say it’s better than many beta titles in development. The game is charming, the soundtrack is decent, and I laughed at the light humor sprinkled throughout the game.

This game is similar to many top-down Zelda titles but with a fleshed-out, challenging combat system. The stealth mechanic is handled wonderfully, the equipment system is fun and allows an enormous amount of customization, and there is a shocking level of detail to the game. Grappling enemies adds much needed depth to the combat system and is quite satisfying. See that pot? Pick it up, fill it with water, and huck it at the nearest enemy for a decent chunk of damage. Or skip the pot and grab the enemy, drag them to the water, and casually drown them for extra crafting materials. Not enough? Push them into a bottomless void or throw them into other enemies. The random generation makes levels replayable and interesting. There’s also a multiplayer mode which involves serious cooperation, though it has some bugs for now. I had so much fun with my friend coordinating stealth attacks and accidentally suplexing each other into oblivion.

Real player with 32.8 hrs in game

I so far have so this to be a tough but fair game with many different types of creatures and obstacles for the player to face. Though I will admit the a good amount of the game for me has been grinding lower floor. The first two bosses are challenging but fair though so far on fighting the third boss that is where the challenge is. Hopefully I’ll be able to defeat the cyclopes soon, but it will be way more challenging then any of the other.

Alright its 6/28/21 found out how to kill the Bug Queen and found a glitch basically when she starts shooting out eggs press rt on an xbox controller to throw it back at her. As for the glitch apparently after giving the shell of one of the bug queens egg to the old man there will be an axe that appearances and his hand and then the whole game will freeze. Seems to be inentional for now.

One can fix the bugs, glitches and even contents with enough patches. However, one cannot fix bad gameplay design decisions no matter how much one can pour its money and time. The new Moo is the prime example of the latter.

I had been maintaining weapon mod list thread in the official Moo forum until I gave up on the game.

This game massively suffers in three areas: combat, content, and game design which is terrible.

I am not even going to talk about the tactical battle being real-time instead of turn-based, or staranes instead of free movements, because those issues are actually trivial issues compared to what I am going to discuss here.

Pretty but Dull.

Because of the fixed and predictable tech tree each game tends to unfolds the same way.

Your opponets don’t have any unique and destinctive tech, they have what you have, or will have or use to have. Hardly makes it woth spying on them.

Combat is dull:

You start over here, they start over there and you charge one another. As there is very little input from the player you end up being a spectator in your own game. yay

You don’t decide what to shoot or who to shoot at, the AI does that for you.
