Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology
Found this game and it is a diamond in the rough. The second i started the tutorials i realised that brute force and overwhelming numbers don’t work. You have to use strategy, such as an artillery bombardment before your charge, or hitting the enemy in the rear and making there defences useless. The reinforcements system forces you to think about what the attack will cost you, it affects you in the long run. They feature that cought me off gaurd is the ammo system, your tanks and soldiers RUN OUT of ammo, when this happens you need to have a supply truck resuply them, and they have a limited supply, making ware houses (infinit supplies) something to defend as well as your supply routs to the front lines. Further more unlike some games that just copy paste units, every side (even the NPCS) have thier own unique rooster of units giving them an advantage in thier field. Germans: Tanks Soviets: Rocket artillery Americans: Jack of all trades. The graphics arn’t master pieces but they are pretty good for 2005. As the campaigns go on, you steadily start being assigned larger and more important missions, which makes it feel as if you are rising through the ranks from some leutenant commanding a few squads of infantry and a hand full of tanks to a general commanding an army to glory. Over all it is a very realistic RTS, gameplay wise, and it will apeal to those who like a realistic RTS.

No problems on my win 7 laptop. The game does without the core units of the previous game. Instead, you end up leveling up “classes of units”, which gets you slight to very good improvements. Some of the missions deploy you in a bad spot, so it makes it hard to achieve no losses for a particular class. I miss have the sniper as my spotter. I basically used my disposaple infantry as spotter and cannon fodder. The AI still attacks the nearest units, so my entrenched infantry were being attacked instead of my anti-tank guns or tanks. The AI still doesn’t move when being attacked by an unseen force. You are restricted as to what units you can deploy as reinforcements, but you are given a good amount if you just want to zerg across the map. My prefered method of attack would be ground air planes as spotter. mobile artillery so I can move it out of the way of enemy counter artillery, and heavy armor for their sligthly better defense. However, I usually had to use infantry as spotter and medium armor to attack.

Red Comrades Save the Galaxy: Reloaded
Point and click adventure game with a quest to find a Russian symbol.
True to it’s Russian nature you’ll see a lot of Russian stereotypes and clichés which can be fun and annoying.
I do wonder whether I’m walking through some sort of mini-Russia
! with drunks on the streets and being poor with almost everyone asking for money and many things just broken or in a worn down state. To come accross Very rude and impolite people is something I didn’t expect, actually.
The game has a very usable system to interact with the envoirement and a handy map that will transport you trough the game if you don’t feel like taking your characters walking. Beautifully drawn backgrounds and freshly designed lead characters. Still has that olden days Russia look of course. With Russian voices make it sound true to it’s Russian nature. It’s was hilarious to hear them talk in Russian for the first time, luckely the English subtiltes made sense. That’s where this game differentiates from other point&click games, it’s Russia style of handling things.

Well, it’s a russian game. Its main characters, Peter Isaev and Vasiliy Ivanovich Chapaev, were real people who served in Russian Civil War. Then, in 1934, came a very successful and popular film “Chapaev”, so this pair became the stable character of jokes and folklore, being popular for decades the USSR existed. They only lost their former glory in in 1990s-2000s, because of changed times and morals.
And, this game was made first decade after vanishing of that country, in a dark time for millions of people. Among questions that arose then, there was one, kind of philosophical - whither to move? For some people the way to get to the answer was - since the Union’s return in the nearest years seemed to be highly improbable, it’s reasonably to sum up all the previous experiense that country, consisted of every inhabitant, had, to highlest its best, to use it as base for building something some suitable for new circumstances, and then to move on.

Blitzkrieg Anthology
I bought this game in 2003 just after it’s release, now in 2014 I find myself still playing it just as much. A few things to know about this game:
THERE ARE NO BASES - There is something awfully appealing about having a certain ammount of units and being told to capture an area without reinforcements.
The Campaign is fairly repetitive after a while. Essentially you will end up doing similar convoy missions, town clearing missions, defend the gun emplacement missions etc to get upgraded tanks and artillery.

Bottomline:
Probably the best real time tactics ww2 game ibe ever played, certainly the best in the blitzkrieg series imo.
There is no base building, resource gathering, increasing production, or managing whole wars & armies here. Just good old military tactics.
I played this game for 100s of hours years ago, and even though i have my original disk (somewhere) i bought it again on steam.
Graphics are a little dated of course, but still looks good enough. The best part of this game is its gameplay, not its looks so if what you are looking for is flashy shinny explosions, there are better options out there. But if youre after a challenging, realistic and extremely fun gameplay, with complete historical accuracy, this is certainly what you are looking for.

AR-K
I received this game as a part of some bundle I bought way back.
I want to like this game. I wish the development team the best. But unfortunately I cannot recommend it, not even for $8 USD.
There are good, or at least decent, things here. There is some humor, including physical humor, that works. The actual voice lines are mostly fine, and what faults there are there in this audio itself are much more likely on the VA director and/or scriptwriters. Barring one jarring segment of lines I noticed in the 2nd episode where something obviously went wrong in recording or compression or something, but the team decided to use it anyway, which… fits with some of my suspicions about how out-of-time/energy/money they were feeling at the time.

AR-K may be a study in how to have an okay story, okay graphics and good voice-acting and still come out with a bad game - soo manyy problems.
This title consists of the first two episodes of the game, “Gone with the Sphere” and “The Girl Who Wasn’t There”, and the second feels way better than the first. Still, we see a lot of beginner’s mistakes in the handiwork. Basically every aspect of the game is flawed in some way or another.
Note: Review was rewritten to fit Steam’s transparent character limit.
