My Personal All-Time Favorite Game

Hello All :) Yeah ive played this game from Beta days as a Half-Life Mod on the old WON days. This game is like the grandfather of WW2 games , Before COD and all other WW2 games there was Day of Defeat. I have a major love for this game. I also made alot of good friends amongst my battles along the way :) {“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers”}

The game play is a bit older and slower then its predecessor of the day Counter-Strike.The Capture the Flag gameplay and Objective Play enforce strong team work and communication game play. The game has aged a bit of course but the key gameplay is still relevant today.

Day of Defeat for the PC is a World War Two multiplayer mod of Counter Strike, that is a lot of fun. There are lots of levels and even though the overall gameplay is just capture checkpoints just like in Battlefield 1942 this game has something that Battlefield does not, and that is a real sense of realism. It maybe the recoil that the weapons have or the envirmonets, this game just seems to work better than Battlefield.

The graphics are kind of bland, but they do a good job making them look somewhat like the envirmoents look like. There are tons of places to go and take cover and just like in counter strike after you play for a while you really get a hang of it. I will admit though, one thing that I did not like was that you really couldnt look down the sights of any weapon other than the sniper rifle that is about it though, well the British weapons suck, but this is a very fun multiplayer game that is free via steam and a must play if you like World War Two shooters or Counter Strike.

Boundary

Boundary

Boundary is a multiplayer tactical space-based shooter that puts players in the role of a heavily armed astronaut, called an Astroperator, engaging in fierce team vs team zero gravity firefights and executing low-gravity operations on orbiting space installations against other enemy Astroperators and other entities.

Powered by your EMU suit, you can now navigate the harsh atmosphere of space and orbiting installations in order to engage enemy combatants in a 3-dimensional battlefield where threats come at you from all angles. This is astronaut combat more akin to dogfighting where your angle of attack and position can make all the difference.

Personalize your protective space suit and your arsenal of modified weaponry. Be a keen-eyed sharpshooter executing long range kills from afar or get in close and personal as an Assaulter, taking the fight forward. Modify and upgrade your chosen primary weapon from a wide selection of stocks, grips, scopes, barrels, and ammo types to coordinate with your play style and create a weapon and class appearance unique to you.

Heavily inspired by real life industrial technology and space exploration, Boundary features a varied selection of multiplayer maps including a wreck strewn debris field, Solar Farm and so on. These maps provide Astroperators with a range of diverse and challenging combat environments.

Weapon customization, multiple combat classes to choose from, including combat medics, snipers, support, and utilizing special devices like the grappling hook to help navigate complex map design will make your combat more unpredictable and challenging. Gain the tactical advantage and employ cunning strategies in multiplayer combat to gain the winning edge.

Onward

Onward

No doubt about it, the graphical downgrades that came with the quest version are unfortunate and the devs probably could’ve handled that a bit better. However it also brought some improvements and I have faith that they will bring most of it back eventually. It still looks “okay”.

Having a larger playerbases is also certainly a good thing (just look at “contractors” to know why). It’s just unfortunate (again) that this new playerbase largely consists of children that are barely big enough to even play the game properly (without standing on their sofa…). However, it really isn’t fair to blame that on the devs. Bad parenting is at fault here.

If you had asked me in back in patch 1.7 if I recommended Onward, I would 100% agree. Onward was the most realistic multiplayer Military Simulator you could get on VR. It was as close to air-soft you could get without the bruises to show for it.

I would hop on daily, play COOP with mature players and log off satisfied with my experience, eager to see more content and meet new people.

But when 1.8 hit on that fateful day, I would say steer clear. Why? Well 1.8 was an ambitious patch that the developers wanted to make to “Questify” Onward, that is to provide cross platform play with the Oculus Quest 2. This would inject the community with a large player base. Sound great right? Wrong.

Cube Conflict

Cube Conflict

Cube Conflict is a free and open-source FPS where smileys are at war without mercy.

  • 20 weapons from the most rotten to the most cheated!

  • 15 stupid classes to play, from the kamikaze to the junkie or the ninja!

  • 6 themed maps, from the moon with reduced gravity to the volcano and its molten lava

  • Dozens of possibilities to customize your avatar with capes, graves, smileys, etc.

  • 100% free, all skins can be unlocked while playing!

Weapons you said?

Little guns are for kiddies. Nothing like a portable GAU-8, a little bit of atomic bomb, and a rocket minigun!

Class system

Doctor, Soldier? For newbies. No doubt you would rather be a Kamikaze to blow yourself up and kill all the enemies around you or even a wizard to cast magic spells!

Useful(?) items

Ok, you can die fast, but you should be able to escape death with one power armor and multiple drugs!

Maps (for real!)

Incredible there are maps on this game! So, everyone knows rocket jump right? Well, try it on the moon.

A lot of skins

You can look like a badass… or an idiot. But mostly an idiot. Since you’re gonna die (a lot) we added different graves! Like a nice poop for the noobs and gold ingots for the richest players.

Strike Team Gladius

Strike Team Gladius

Strike Team Gladius is a typical Wave Light game, and in my book that’s a good thing. The story serves as the framework for the game campaign’s 40 combat missions, so it’s all about building a team and tactical combat. Finishing the campaign twice took me about 100 hours.

There are 12 different classes, each with a male and a female version. They all have different stats, skills and abilities. You choose 6 of them and off you go. After each mission your units get EXP points and after roughly 5 missions they get an upgrade - if you can keep them alive, that is.

Update:

The game has improved tremendously in early access and a lot of the rough edges have been removed. And the difficulty curve has been mostly smoothed out. A tutorial has also been added that helps quite a bit in getting the player oriented. Two new classes (exo armor troopers) were also added an are a lot of fun! And now it is out of early access!

Definitely recommended for fans of tactical turn based games!

Original Review:

Strike Team Gladius is a solid squad based strategy game by WaveLight games. Your 6 squad members will fight aliens in a variety of outdoor environments, with a large variety of allies and enemies. It is currently in early access and has some rough edges, but progress has been fast on sanding them down. Definitely worth a buy if you are a squad based strategy fan!

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

I do recommend this game, albeit with some caveats.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout is an old-fashioned third-person shooter with 17 missions, across which you get to play as twelve characters total (six each for the Joes and Cobra). The game is obviously a love letter to the original 80s cartoon, and given the comments the developers make in the art book, they worked with what they had and would’ve make a more robust game if given the choice. If you like G.I. Joe and don’t boot up the game expecting a triple-A title, I think you’ll have a good time.

Real player with 17.7 hrs in game

I honestly couldn’t tell you why this game got so slammed at release. I picked it up in a Fanatical Platinum bundle and powered through the whole thing in one sitting - and it was worth every penny. Definitely a budget title, but between the self-aware humor, earnest appreciation for the IP, and damn fun action (even the vehicle sections!), Operation Blackout might actually be the first genuinely GOOD G.I. Joe game!? It basically is like if Volition’s Agents of Mayhem was a linear action game rather than a sandbox grind, and it works so much better as a result!
