Hellbreachers

Hellbreachers

Hellraizers is a new action-adventure platformer game from indie studio Omcor, creator of ace of space, set in a fantasy medieval setting.

The game meets us with a plot, atmosphere and, of course, gameplay. Everything in order.

The plot of the plot is that you acquired an island, knowingly knowing about the riches and treasures located there, but upon your arrival, a demonic incursion happened to your own island and now you, left penniless in your pocket, set off to destroy the heresy, demons and xenos that were waiting for you in the bowels of the island.

Not a bad game. Even on the hardest difficulty, I was able to run through the monsters and idly click on the bosses to destroy them. I didn’t feel any real incentive to collect the gems until after the game ended.

5/10 game for the quality.

9/10 game for the price!

James Peris: Sin licencia ni control - Edición definitiva

This is a Spanish language (with some English translation) classical point-and-click adventure game with a hand drawn cartoon art style, and various bad taste jokes throughout the game. Looks like I get to write the first English review!

The concept isn’t bad and the hand drawn cartoon art is reasonably well done. The key problem here is that despite a 2012 release, there’s no widescreen support for the game (was it developed on old 4:3 CRT monitors??), so it falls below minimum standards for a PC game, then and now. I certainly hope the artists and writers go on to do better things, and it’s a shame the game doesn’t meet basic standards for modern PC games.

FINAL FANTASY V

FINAL FANTASY V

This version does not have the additional content found in the GBA and Mobile versions, but I still think it is a great experience.

The redone music is a real treat, and the upgraded backgrounds during battles are also very nice (especially in ExDeath’s Castle after the illusion is removed).

The colors and graphics are sharp, as are the new cutscene animations (ie. crystals shattering, etc.).

Some features included in all FF Pixel Remastered editions:

►Hold down B (on a Nintendo-type controller) to run, and in this game when you learn the Thief’s Sprint ability, it makes you run even faster when you do this. Granted, I find both of these can make your character run a little too fast, and you might make mistakes in some situations. For example, when you are trying to escape Castle Karnak before it blows up while getting every treasure chest and learning Aera and Death Claw on your way out, your character might dash past turns you meant to make. Update: This was patched on Nov 24, 2021.

FINAL FANTASY III

FINAL FANTASY III

I had actually been dreading this version of Final Fantasy 3, since Square Enix’s releases of mobile games on Steam have been very hit or miss, mostly the latter. So, I’m honestly surprised to find myself recommending this release, to the point it might be the best version of Final Fantasy 3 to date. This game has tons of smart changes that make this the most definitive way to play this game, the finest of the Famicom released trio. With a lot of nice QoL changes, this game plays like it has the best features of the 3D release and the original Famicom version.

Final Fantasy III is a NES game so ambitious it feels like a SNES game. While it has the tropes of old like the Dragon Quest combat, the party of blank-slates, and Vancian magic-system, it stands as a highly ambitious work that measures up with the classic SNES trilogy.

After the stinker that was II the series went back a step and took to making a bigger, better, and more original version of I. Four light-warriors, four crystals, but now twice the length in a world twice the size.

You have versatility. You can change your job at will. You can swap magic around instead of forgetting expensive spells. You could make a lot of weird party combinations work.

I found this game through a video by Seycara (the composer of the OST). I received a code by supporting the development via the paypal link on the developer’s website, before the Steam Release. The team behind this game has a lot of heart and I admire their dedication to making this game the fantasy BR/survival experience that has been lacking in the market. I highly recommend participating in this game’s early access if you’re interested in helping Homage Studios make this game the masterpiece I know it can become.

  • The game is extremely enjoyable if rough at the start, learning curve is massive, YOU WILL BE ENDED by anyone who has any idea of what they are doing.

  • Classes are vastly different from each other, each with ups and downs and counters.

  • Battles feel like something out of a fantasy book with shit going EVERYWHERE even in small fights from 1v1s to 3v3s or more depending on how many teams are ingame.

  • Crafting and upgrading is how you all weapons and armor it’s simple but, works well you get your gear and choose to either start hunting or more scaveging to get upgrades.

Crystal Project

Crystal Project

Explore the world, find Crystals, and fulfill the prophecy to bring balance to the land of Sequoia.

…Or maybe you’d rather spend your time collecting neat equipment and artifacts? Or tame strange creatures and fill out all the entries in your archive? Or perhaps you’d rather hunt down every monster and conquer the world’s toughest bosses. Or maybe you’d rather travel to the farthest reaches of the land and uncover the world’s greatest mysteries.

The choice is yours, as it should be! Or is it? They say that those who stray out of line will be punished, killed, or worse. Maybe it’s for your own good that you stick to collecting Crystals, just like everyone else. But where would the adventure be in that?

  • No random encounters!

  • Manage Threat to control which party member a monster will attack.

  • No hidden information. Preview turn order, damage, and probabilities like in TRPGs.

  • Discover and unlock new classes.

  • Assign sub-classes, pick passive abilities, and equip all kinds of special items.

  • Invent unique team compositions, or stick to the MMORPG Holy Trinity.

  • Uncover the mysteries of the world all on your own.

  • Metroidvania-style progression.

  • No invisible walls! Try to jump and climb anywhere you want.

Venaitura

Venaitura

Very solid NES style JRPG, with more strategic depth than many of the classics. Most enemies (I think it might be all) are weak to a certain weapon type, but most characters can only equip a few of the weapon types. There’s a also a slew of very useful status effects when brute force isn’t working.

And to round it out, the writing here is pretty good. It’s not going to win any awards, but important characters are fleshed out enough to be interesting, and some of the dialogue is genuinely funny. The random NPCs are plentiful and build the world quite well, but don’t waste your time with pointless dialogue.

Real player with 37.1 hrs in game

Venaitura is a short, fun, charming and sometimes serious game with a good balance of ease and difficulty. With twelve character classes and an absolutely huge variety of options for party balance, my first play through might just be a little biased since I chose Wiseman, Savior, Druid and Companion.

I am one of the early playtesters of this game and although I have not found any bugs, I’ve heard from a few other players there are some, BUT the game dev, Ephiam is very active and I haven’t heard of any game breaking bugs.
