Reactor Tech²
A game about watching number rise. But what is life, if not watching the year count rise and your bank account dwindle?
Now, I’ve just finished my first “complete” playthrough and there are a few things I want to talk about. Let’s start with the most important: most of the negative reviews are old. The UI isn’t perfect but it’s not bad and same with the tutorial. In my entire playtime I’ve only found what I think was a bug once.
The artstyle, music and sound effects are gorgeous.
DO NOT buy this game expecting something similar to a city/base builder. Actually you build very few structures, and spend most of the time upgrading your existing buildings, changing the engineering cells and min-maxing the different configurations.

It has the marks of an interesting, fun little game, however…
Be warned:
it’s not really release-ready, regardless what they claim.
The game is full of annoying bugs and overlooked illogical elements, the controls are inconsistent, the whole thing is sorely in need of a UI/UX overview, it’s hard to navigate, hard to sort out what’s what.
Currently expansion is impossible, due to a heating issue.
And in my personal opinion it does not look good.
I’ll persist, maybe it’ll be a good game; currently it’s a beta, that’s not very playable.

Per Aspera
It’s rare for a city builder / logistics game to have a good story, but this one sure does. Through monologue and dialogue options we follow the self-discovery and existential ruminations of the player character, an AI tasked with terraforming Mars. The planet visuals are beautiful. It’s incredible to zoom in and look at the contoured terrain and watch it change as it fills in with water and plant life.
Gameplay is less elaborate than most city builders and the logistics are not even close to the level of complexity of something like a Factorio style game. Managing the interconnected temperature and atmospheric composition is interesting. The end result is a casual, relaxing builder with a memorable story.

===SUMMARY===
This is my favorite game of 2021. I like simulation games as a group, and this is a beautiful installment of this growing genera. I love what simulations teach me, being spoon fed facts off a list. I love that (having played Per Aspera) I know the landscape of Mars better. I know some of the names, sure, but grokking the SCALE, the oddness, sparking my curiosity about Noctis Labyrinthus, just from working on the planet is priceless. I became familiar with Mars in a way that Surviving Mars never did (though I played that a lot too).

InfraSpace
Lots of reviewers are throwing out comparable games. The first thing that came to mind for me was Anno 2070 but with actual traffic and less frustration. I loved that game, so this is a plus. I also got a huge whiff of Surviving Mars, again with actual traffic and less frustration. I was not a fan of that game, so I’m happy to say I enjoy InfraSpace more. If you liked either game, you’ll very much like InfraSpace.
If you enjoy solving traffic problems or even just watching traffic in Cities Skyline, then this will appeal to you. If you enjoyed solving logistic problems in Shapez.io, this is a must have. If you strive for logistical efficiency and optimization, well that’s most of the game.

At this time, I DO recommend this game, but, there are still lingering issues that I’ve found. See bottom of post for my “rant”.
[EDIT-Seems as though the #48 news corrected the issues I was experiencing. Everything else looks to be “my” problem with the routing and design of the roads]
Things I like:
-
I like having a system that I have to continuously replenish, such as the residential zones.
-
I like how in order to grow the residential, you need different components to create more dense areas

GREAT lil starter game, it has a smooth flow to it, and the tutorial quests do a fine job preparing you to play freely. The graphics are a touch on the low end, but that can help when dealing with larger ship builds. I enjoy the duality of how simple the economy works, with the possibility of growing to a complicated and profitable enterprise.
It’s far from perfect as it has a few game melting bugs, but i like it, and so far the developer seems to be very open to suggestions, and responds quickly.

You can also join the game’s community on Discord:
In a world where mysterious plants are spreading all over the earth, emitting toxic spores as they grow, a small group of survivors seeks shelter on the back of a giant, wandering creature they call ‘Onbu’.
Become their leader, build their settlement and form a symbiotic relationship with the creature to survive together in this hostile, yet beautiful post-apocalyptic world that now surrounds you.
Build your village
A functioning village is the basis of your survival. Build your settlement and expand it over the creature’s back. Plan production chains and optimize them to utilize the limited space as efficiently as possible. Create a society that can overcome any challenge.
Live on the creatures back
Living on the back of another organism comes with its own set of challenges. Will you live in symbiosis, bond with the creature and survive on mutual trust? Or will you become a parasite, only aiming to ensure a better life for your villagers? The choice is yours.
Discover different biomes
Travel through a multitude of different biomes and adapt your village to their unique opportunities and threats. Scout your environments and send out foraging missions to gather rare resources and ancient artifacts.
Research new technologies
Remnants of the old world hold knowledge that has long been forgotten, but can be unearthed by your villagers. Find and research these technologies, but use them wisely, as progress can be a double-edged sword.
Survive the wastelands
Ensure the survival of both your villagers and your Onbu, even though poisonous spores, merciless weather, bloodsucking parasites and many more challenges mean that the odds are often stacked against you.
Thinnest Judgment
Specimen
Little paper people, or Specimen, are sentient beings made from a mixture of paper and the souls of millions. These little guys will be your only source of company. Nobody seems to care about you. Nobody ever visits or sends you nice letters, but Specimen always seem to be by your side. Maybe one will write you a heartfelt letter from their paper-skin.
Each Specimen has its own personality which will influence their actions. These actions play a monumental role in the Habitat. There are 8 attributes: strength, constitution, dexterity, intelligence, charisma, sanity, perception, and luck. Each of these attributes affects whether an action is successful or not, and what the consequences might be. A Specimen can also have up to 4 traits, selected from a large trait pool, they have modifiers on attributes, and may also assist in specific events. Some attributes might also become negative with negative traits.
Habitat
An island that exists to immortalize the Specimen that enters, or at least until they die. New Specimen are dropped into the center, and they begin their lives by migrating outward. Specimen will attempt to form or join groups, and then they will begin working together. As their technology advances, so will their infrastructure. You can boost their progress by sending them some resources, but inevitably it will be cooperation and time that pushes them forward. Reach one step closer to utopia by carefully selecting each citizen, or go the other way and incite chaos with as many psychopaths that you can find, or make.
The Sorting Station
A conveyor belt encircles the room. Items from all over the Facility are fed into this station. The goal is to move items into their proper receptacles. Some items have multiple correct destinations. There are 4 outgoing destinations: recycling, the Habitat, reporting, and R&D.
Resources
Collect resources by recycling items, fulfilling requests, or advancing the Habitat. Resources are responsible for developing skills, fueling automation, advancing the Habitat, and fulling some requests. They’re easily obtainable with the endless supply of materials atop the active conveyor belt.
Requests
Receive requests from R&D to send them specific items with specific attributes. Get rewarded with rare resources.
Automation
Unlocked using skills, automation buildings allow for advanced configurations to be utilized during sorting. When an item passes through a detector, if it passes the user’s filters, it can send signals to other buildings to target the item. Automation can be useful for disarming traps, scanning Specimen, sending unwanted items past you via teleportation, and dispensing into receptacles.
Defusing of Specimen
Some Specimen have a tendency to meltdown. Especially on the conveyor belt, where the motion seems to trigger passive instabilities within Specimen. When one is showing symptoms, you can begin to defuse them. The process varies for each Specimen, but the procedure is always the same: locate the instability within the Specimen, remove it, and isolate it. The instability within Specimen typically stems from an unbalanced amount of souls packed into a single area that would cause an explosion, but it’s also possible that the paper contains a substance that induces a volatile reaction with the souls that causes them to rapidly expand and explode. As long as the instability is removed, it can safely explode in isolation.
Items
A cluster of items plagues the Facility, all for your taking. Just make sure you aren’t holding onto contraband, as the list is ever changing. Being caught with illegal items will result in your reeducation.
Food
Everybody needs to eat, but it’s not as if you’re going to die from a couple of weeks of fasting. Nevertheless, make sure to eat and avoid the strange side-effects of slowly becoming a corpse. If you’re having trouble finding food to quench your hunger, try a vending machine!
Avoid eating spoiled food and leaving it out for too long. The spoil will spread, not just to other food, but to the air as well. Take a gasp of the fetid air and regret your breath as it’s your last.
Traps
Trying to pick up traps will hurt, but you can acquire skills or use automation which allows you to pick them up. Being hurt by an active trap will cause your vision to temporarily distort, but even the distortion can be reduced with skills.
Medication
Just because they’re on the contraband list of illegal items doesn’t mean they aren’t medically approved for usage. Need something to ease the pain, or to slow down the world around you? Perhaps you want temporary superpowers? Consult your local doctor, Dirty Conveyor-belt, and get prescribed today!
Decorations
Find some cute decorations to liven up your stations.
Notes
Residents of the Facility have written down their thoughts and you’re free to ponder them.
Tapes
It appears some residents have gotten a hold of a tape recorder, have a listen to what they have to say.
Skills
Use the skill-tree to unlock new abilities, passive and active, to optimize your operations of the stations. Skills require resources to unlock. More advanced skills require more and rarer resources.
Crafting
Use raw elements to product compound elements which are used to craft items. Most items appear on the conveyor belt, but some might be incredibly rare and it might be easier to craft them instead of waiting for them.
Twitch Integration
Your Twitch chat can enter the world as their very own Specimen or influence events through voting. No authentication is required - an anonymous bot will connect to chat purely to read it, so you would only need to enter your channel’s name.
Naming
When a user types “!join” in chat, the next Specimen that enters the world will have a special skin with the name of the user. If that user is banned, any reference to them will be expunged. Timed out users are not treated this way - they are left alone.
Voting
Events that are randomly triggered normally can be forced to cause some chaos by users that type “!vote” followed by the number on the screen.
Development Note
More information will be added as the development progresses. Current information may also change. I apologize for current categories that do not contain much information. Some features need to be planned out more thoroughly, and when the concepts have been properly structured, they’ll make there way into the description!
