Northgard
There aren’t many RTS game nowadays. So, this one is like… a rare gem. One of the most brilliant contemporary RTS out there.
The objective is simply to win, by which means though is entirely up to you. You can choose a mercantile clan and obliterate your enemies from the map or a war-mongering one and wins the wisdom victory, for example. It’s possible, but not ideal, but again we have to make do with what we have. The game offers like so many clans to choose from (many of which are DLCs though). Your town hall, the main building, regularly generates your population. One at a time. You construct a building and assign a worker to it. You explore the map, each zone in tile with designated resource(s). You colonize a tile and construct a building you see fit. During winter each year, you suffer production penalty. And everything moves along the passage of time until one clan rises to supremacy, or everyone else falls. Oh, and all the while some special events occur: Kraken attacks, abnormally harsh winter, annoying earthquake, etc. One of the best things about this game is that you don’t have to micromanage your resources and workers so meticulously. The town hall only produces one person at a time and each production building can hold but a few assigned workers, so everything is easy to put under control.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
I would’ve recommended this game months ago but now the team ladder just doesn’t work properly. The team balance used to be good, but now it seems to be based on average score. This is a problem since higher rated players can team up with lower rated ones and play with people in the middle. This has become increasingly frustrating when one member of the other team it’s over 500 points higher than you are and overpowers the other team only because the other players have a lower score. 500 points in age ladder its a lot, and in a 1v1 scenario in a team game, it shows.

Not only the original game is actually good in the first place, but this is likely the only genuinely great ‘remaster’ out there as well with many modern features, new additions, and improvements without significantly changing how the game plays, and also provides thorough tutorials to warm up newcomers into utilising popular strategies used in multiplayer. It also remade all of the AoF campaigns to be of higher quality with the rest.
The only complaint being that the remade soundtracks are hit or miss, but even then the devs still give you the option thanks to mods.

Conan Unconquered
It was a hapless thief that found Thugra Khotan in his hidden grave and awakened the ancient priest and conjurer from Acheron. The priest had survived the destruction of his kingdom by barbarians by magical means. Now, centuries later he raised a huge army under the name of Natokh, the Veiled One. Prepare yourself for endless waves of enemies this formidable conjurer and necromancer will throw against you.

‘Conan Unconquered’ is a real-time strategy game in which you have to survive waves of enemies. Your task is to build and strengthen your base and erect defenses in order to survive oncoming enemies that quickly grow stronger and approach faster with each wave. You must level up your hero, gather resources, and raise an army. This, however, sounds easier than it is.

After a few hours, I think I’m ready to give it a review.
Long Story short, here’s the highlights. 8 pros - 3 pars - 2 fails. Recommended.
First, let’s get the obvious out of the way. Conan unconquered is a RTS style game remenescant of Age of Empires or, IMHO, more like the original Warcraft titles with it’s units synergy and hero class’s experience and artifacts. A tower defense base building a la Conan franchise with population and resource management with great lore. Time is short and waves can be brutal to an unprepared army. There is a pause for those of you that are desperate. Some comics and readings if you find it boring. Seriously. There’s also a coop mode.

Cultures - 8th Wonder of the World
It’s still addictive as Northland; but it’s a step down. The UI is worse, you can’t “give extras to everyone” anymore; instead the game only lets you toggle a switch for giving equipment to new civilians. The weaksauce carrying/merchantry system is not improved one bit; workers lose their carriages the moment you right-click somewhere, there is no easy way to stop unload orders and you gotta micromanage all carrying processes etc. And that’s bad because this game has a lotta “carry goods” missions.

Update (original review removed, rewritten here): Would I love this game this much if it didn’t have reminiscent value to me? Probably not. Would I still, if made to play it, fall in love with the characters, be drawn into the simple yet intricate challenge of village growth and conquering objectives, and be awed at how a 2003 game looks and functions so well even today? Abso-viking-lutely.
These games are worth the dollars, but currently on sale, there has never been a better way to spend $1 in all of Steam, ever. Kick back and enjoy this beautiful world.

Cultures - Northland
A classic game, one of the first videogames I played on PC. My friends dismissed it as a “cardboard-cutout” silly RTS, but despite all that, I still love the game.I’ve recently had the pleasant surprise to find it listed on steam, as I misplaced the original CD, and bought it at a slight discount to see if it still runs (windows 10 64bit). Gotta say, I had to fiddle with the resolution and graphics settings a bit, but I got it to work, and it was worth it.
A few ways in which this game differs from other strategy games: left click is only for selection; placing buildings, setting work areas, taking various actions and whatnot require right-clicking. All subjects have their various needs (if played on easy or normal difficulty) that need to be satisfied. Vikings require signposts to be placed around to go to faraway places. This need can be bypassed by scouts(who place the signposts) and military units.

Childhood game, therefore my review might be subjective.
Very good, old school RTS game with colorful graphics, simple rules, many campaigns and no need for DLC’s. There could be more main missions as well as side missions apart from those at Skirmish mode.
Let’s not forget that the game production is dated as of year 2000, the 2015 is the release date on steam, not the actual production time. As of year 2000, the game can be easily compared to old The settlers or old Anno titles.
Although few aspects of the game could be more extended, such as main heroes. Great example here can be Spellforce series or even Warlords Battlecry where the main hero can use spells, have certain attributes as well as the inventory.

Medieval Kingdom Wars
I like the game. In fact, I like it a lot. There are very few things I could personally complain about, in terms of gameplay mechanics, or graphics. If I wanted something different, I’d simply play something else, instead of asking for this game to be changed to the point it’s no longer the same game.
The reason for the negative review, would be that I’ve almost completely lost faith in the the developers, as well as any hope of improvement on what is currently something non-playable for me. And the reason I’ve lost faith in them, would be due to their approach on how they handle things.

Medieval Kingdom Wars is a Grand Strategy/RTS game that reminds me of a mix of a very simplified Paradox campaign map, with Total War elements, and then very Age of Empires style real time battles in a battle map. This game has a really cool concept, I’ve always wanted a game like this, and after reading the description apparently the 3 man Dev team always has as well, and they’ve made a pretty neat little game. What it lacks in complexity and depth it makes up for in pure fun, and it is fairly addictive as well. It’s not as immersive as a total war game or a paradox game, you won’t really feel Super in the 14th century, as many of the units are still fairly generic, but the devs are CONSTANTLY updating this game, and it’s always getting better with every update. Okay, lets do a quick rundown of it’s features and then some pros and cons:

Mythos: Slavic Builder
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1732910/Photography_Simulator/
Before the missionaries came to the Slavic lands to start writing down the known history, there was the Age of Mythos:
Forests, valleys and fields are full of creatures from Slavic beliefs. Even though they may look like monsters, you don’t have to fight them all. Make proper offerings to them and you will gain powerful allies.
Give your workers a roof over their heads and a good supper and they will build a thriving settlement for you. Do not disappoint your subjects, because dissatisfied people may leave you.
A long spear and a sharp sword will always be useful - your settlement is threatened by monsters, other tribes, Vikings or even demons from distant lands.
Follow Slavic traditions to earn points that you may spend on special blessings from the gods - the warlike Perun, the generous Mokosh and the mysterious Veles.

Send scouts on dangerous missions deep into the Shadow Realm to gain valuable intelligence and find ways to better fight off attackers. Be careful though. If your men stay too long in these tainted, cursed lands they may die!
DISCOVER THE STORY OF SHADOWS
In 1038 a gateway appeared out of nowhere from which all sorts of nightmares started to crawl out. Vast numbers of determined and fearful warriors stood against the army of darkness. They fought and died in huge numbers. The Evil was stopped but… never defeated. Now… they are back.
Discover who or what they are. Look for their weak spots as every shadow has strengths as well as weaknesses. Find the best way to defeat them.
FACE RANDOM EVENT SYSTEM
Each game becomes unique due to random events. Many situations will require your attention. Both those seemingly trivial as well as those affecting the fate of the entire garrison. Take them wisely, as the consequences of some may become apparent only after time. And by then, it may already be too late!

Frozenheim
First, the TL;DR: While the game still feels rough around the edges, it is a fun game if you like games/matches that can last as little as 30 minutes and as long as 3 hours (exploring to get Ragnarök).
GREAT:
-
Aesthetically pleasing with good music
-
Building options
-
Enough maps (4) to play skirmishes, games and 2 campaigns
-
Minor customization (color selection) of your colony
NEUTRAL:
- You colony can expand 3 times, each with prerequisites and materials required, but the expansion is small. Depending on your starting location, it can matter a lot or none at all.

Game, building and personal information:
(Detailed)
- Frozenheim a “serene Norse city builder” that absolutely feels serene when focused on creating a settlement. I begin with just a Jarl’s longhouse and a handful of citizens standing around, and I build a lumber camp, fishing and hunting huts, a gathering station (for stone), and then a training camp so I can begin to create some soldiers. I put down some houses to grow my population, and there are windmills for wheat fields and farmhouses but they won’t generate resources in the harsh winters that cover the world in snow and ice so be aware of that.
