Zero Sum Future
These are my first impressions after 2 hours also known as The Point of No Refund.
PROS:
-
Space capitalism is perhaps even more cruel and brutal than direct conflict seen in classic RTS :) I really like the core idea and the name is incredibly fitting.
-
Planets have rather intersting terrain as opposed to being boring spheres. This adds to challenge of efficiently placing buildings.
-
Being able to see others planets in the sky of your world is really awesome!
-
Game is fast paced, yay \o/ I didn’t play a real human game yet, but expansion is fast and so is the end when you run out of money.

I have massive respect for the development of this game. There is a lot of effort put into this game and I just love the complete feel of the game experience. Truth is I have not won a single multiplayer game and I am ok with this. I learn more and more about the game as I play.
Playing the tutorial is fun and informative. It does not give you more than you need to know to make the next step successfully. There even some humour to be found in the tutorial.
The game play is super fast paced based on your opponents.

WAR PARTY
I’m always looking for new RTS games since they are a rare thing these days. However, Im often very dissapointed by what I find.
Well, that is NOT the case with war party !!!
This game is only on early access but it’s impressive how good it is ! it’s easy to understand as it possesses a lot of classical RTS mechanics but also some new stuff that make the game deep, fun and challenging.
The + :
- cool and unusual universe (caveman x dinos x vaudou) : You can produce some T-rex ans some mounted velociraptor or go with some witch doctor and zombies

As a long time supporter going back all the way back to the alpha, here are my thoughts about the game as of launch.
The strengths:
-
3 asymmetric, visually distinct factions.
-
Will have a campaign in the full release.
-
Dedicated servers are near-flawless. Forget about desyncs, laggy gameplay due to peer to peer etc.
-
League-rank system just like in Starcraft 2.
-
Excellent matchmaking that expands search, starting at your ELO. This makes for close games once you stabilize your ELO.

BANNERMEN
Disclaimer: I recommend you to buy this game, but as of launch month, do your research before you commit. It may or may not be up to your standards.
Pros:
-
Classic RTS formula. We seriously need more of this out there.
-
Key hero unit, and creeping/leveling mechanics add to the usual “by the numbers + rock papper scissors” game.
-
Very good basic mechanics. The UI and controls do everything they need to, and everything in the game is crisp and responsive.
-
Cool setting, and awesome unit designs derived from the setting.

I wanted to like this game. I REALLY wanted to like this game. I played in some of the earlier Alpha tests and I saw it had some great potential once they fix some of the rough edges. The only rough edge they seemed to have fixed is that now there is a matchmaking system. The rest of it still feels like an alpha build and they’re charging $30 for it.
PROS:
-
Decent graphics
-
Unique ideas
CONS:
-
Average 6:00 queue time and it’s still new.
-
THERE IS NO CHAT. None. Anywhere. Pass the long queue times by chatting with other players? Not in this game, buddy. Want to ask how your opponent does their build? Too bad, maybe you can find them in Discord. Want to “GG” and not rage-quit? RAGE QUIT ONLY IN THIS GAME.
